[Signing] Canucks sign Tucker Poolman

I'm not the biggest fan of the term but at that avv could be a great signing and a contract that shouldn't be too hard to move. -
[Report] Canucks G Holtby To Be Bought Out

Not ideal but not the end of the world. I rather do that than add assets just to dump the contract. -

[GDT] 2021 NHL Expansion Draft
Analyst82 replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in General Hockey Discussion
If the list that was leaked is true.... The kraken must have trades or big UFA signings happening because this expansion draft is very underwhelming. -
I know there is a lot of negativity on here right now but I didn't think we played that bad. Mcdavid just had himself a game! If we caught a few breaks we would of been tied 4-4 after the second. I knew this was one of those games when they scored with 0.8 seconds left. Im usually supportive of Jake but today... I honestly thought he didn't even want to play! It's too bad really! The oilers should be worried tho! They are a 2 player team. Yes they have 2 support players in Yamamoto and RNH but outside of that they are extremely poor. It was clear that Mcdavid was upset with his last outing and he went out to prove a point. Lets move on to the next one. Jake better wake up and bounce next game!

[Signing] Blue Jackets re-sign Pierre-Luc Dubois
Analyst82 replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
So apparently he's extremely upset with the jackets!! Who knows what happens in two years. -
[Signing] Sabres re-sign Sam Reinhart

I wouldn't mind adding him next year ... depending on the $$ of course. -
[Signing] Flames sign Louis Domingue

This is too good! -
[Signing] Sharks re-sign Kevin Labanc

Kinda thought the same think. I wouldn't mind giving him 3 Mil. The hope is still there that he will mature and start taking his fitness seriously. -

If Labanc nets 4.725 AVV, what do you think Jake is worth? -
[Rumour] Alex Pietrangelo to test free agency
Analyst82 replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Honestly, you'll have to ask me that question once everything is settled and we have a better idea of what our roster will look like. -

There is no issue going after players with a reasonable contract term and money. The problem becomes when you go too hard after players that won't make a huge difference. I say add a few short term pieces but let the youth play. There is no point signing players for the sake of signing them. No matter who we sign we won't be cup contenders right now. In a year we have a bunch of contracts coming off our books (yes, I know it will to to EP and QH). In 2 years we will have another bunch of money coming off the books, including the bs cap penalty for Bobby Lou. We are in decent shape right now. Yes we lost good players but let the youth develop and catch to when we are ready to challenge for thr cup. -

I have no idea what Vegas is planning on doing since they only have $1,875,896 in cap left. I feel like JB is holding back waiting for teams to desperately start unloading players they don't want to unload just to be compliant with the cap. I love that approach. So far, I've been happy with JB not biting and waiting this out. -
[Signing] Flames sign Christopher Tanev
Analyst82 replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
You are to emotional about this. Tanev is replaceable and so is Stecher. Don't forget that when the Canucks signed Stecher and Tanev they were both undrafted and no one really took a shot. Stop pretending like they were both 1st round picks and are franchise players. They are good players but not good enough to handcuff the team with term. Yes, I want to see Juolevi play. We will never know what we got until we let him play. I would also like to give Rathbone and Rafferty an extended look. Also, who knows what will happen with Woo. -

Its not JB's fault that there is a pandemic and the cap did not go up. Tanev and Markstrom are getting older and the terms they got just wouldn't work. JB is holding back on the term because it got us in a crunch. We have decent young D man who need to have a shot. -

Yes, because he had a crystal ball that told him that Louie will be garbage..... -

This might not be a popular opinion but the term is just too much. He is getting older and extremely injury prone. Sad to see him leave but happy the Canucks did not bite on the 4 year term. Good luck Tanev!- 658 replies

[Signing] Flames sign Zac Rinaldo

Let hope that two way keeps him in the AHL ? that is if his indefinite suspension has expired. -

Great, here comes dirty plays against the Canucks. -
[Signing] Flames sign Jacob Markstrom
Analyst82 replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Especially with Demko and Dipetro coming up. No reason to sign a 30 year old to that contract. Also, It not like he has been elite the entire time he was here. Markstroms requests felt like he was forcing the Canucks to announce him as number 1 goalie for years to come and ignore Demko. Overall, I am happy with our current goalie situation. Good luck to Marky who played his butt off for us and good luck in Calgary. -

I love Markstrom but damn that contract is difficult to digests with all the contacts that we currently have plus the upcoming signings of EP and QH. -
[Signing] Canucks sign Braden Holtby
Analyst82 replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Really like this signing! Love the term and the fact that he can be exposed in the expansion draft. I also love the fact that, unlike Markstrom, we shouldn't feel obligated by giving him majority of the starts. Should be a great mentor for demko as well. -
Yes, thanks, because I compare real hockey to NHL20! Give your head a shake. You need to manage a game better! Change up the lines. Use the press box for those so called scrubs. Let the young guys learn from their mistakes and not bench them because they made a mistake. Green constantly gets out coached by veteran coaches.
-
That's exactly what I'm talking about! The scrubs are being dependent on way too much by green. (they are veterans! They can close out a game, etc). The players you mentioned would of had those seasons no matter who they were coached by. Hughes is just so skilled and talented that giving green credit for his achievement is kinda undermining Hughes. Miller is having a career year is because he is finally getting the top minutes he deserves. It's not his fault he was playing in the shadow of superstars for years.
