Why didn’t Boeser try to bank or flip the puck off of the goalie’s back or helmet & in or something from his position next to the low post down there?
There was was the possibility of a rebound ugly-puck opportunity, at the very least - am I right? -

I’m also not putting any stock into the fact that DiPietro let in nearly 80% of the shots taken upon his net during the warm-up, either.

Bruce is clearly hell bent on trying to get Petey’s confidence going & bring him around. It was totally a reputation nod.
What about playin’ the odds & going with the players who show that they are being confident marksmen or are having a hot night.
Reward Mott, Podz even Hogz. They all need the experience one on one vs the best goaltenders in the league, too.
And, with Hogz being so creatively-shifty & a virtual unknown to other goalies, I can’t help but think he’s capable of becoming a shoot-out specialist.
Who knows? ‘Bruce There It Is’ sees all during SO drills in practice. -
