I can’t believe no one’s said Game Eight against the Bruins. It was a great game in its own right, but the implications felt huge.
CoHo’s bar down slap shot behind Tim Thomas was so satisfying, and I truly believed that we’d be able to get back to the finals and win that time.
Thanks for sharing that, was a great game. Too bad Marchand had that scum-bag cheap shot on Salo. Forgot about that...
Also, we were on long PP's for a-lot of that video. Maybe if the refs in the finals had been tough on Boston like that night it would of been a different story... but i digress.- 1

Saw some people posting about games from before 2010, and game's that they saw live, so I figured I'd update the Op and will add it to this discussion..
What was the first game, and the best game you've been to?
- The first game was in Tampa Bay in 2012. Was on vacation at the time, tickets were dirt cheap. Quite the game, that ended with us on top in the shoot-out.
Highlights for anyone curious!
Best game attended -
I've been blessed to go to 30+ games in the past 9 years.. alot of them were great games.. but it was an easy choice.. I picked because the whole game had a vibe to it - the next Vancouver super-star has arrived. You could feel the excitement, and the standing ovation gave me chills. I'm glad I was apart of it.
What was the best game before 2010?
This one I am limited on, as I am born in the late 90's haha
but the Dallas game 7, where Henrik scored is a classic to me -

Would probably have to be Game 7 vs. Chicago in 2011. Probably caused permanent damage to my heart and arteries but it was worth the pain and nail biting in the end.
It was the most stressful game and series for the Canucks ever. From the high after Game 3 to the feeling in the city after Game 6.. it was do or die for alot of Canucks coaching and management, players, etc..
That Luongo save on Sharp in OT, felt like it was going in 1000fps slow motion.. To lose from 3-0 up, It could of been a huge stain on our franchise... but it turned into one of our most memorable victories.

That kind of PP punishment felt so satisfying.
I loved that game. Watching that live was nothing short of amazing. Miss Salo and his ability to just rip the puck into the right area.

Hello everyone!
Bored as can be (as im sure alot of you can relate) during this quarantine and was watching old games..
They bring back a great deal of nostalgia and love for this team.
My question is what your favorite game of the last decade is.. playoffs or regular season..To start, here is my favorite game.. Game 2 in the WCF against SJ..
EDIT:Saw some people posting about games from before 2010, and game's that they saw live, so I figured I'd update the Op and will add it to this discussion..

I did, I predicted we wouldn’t be in the playoffs with Green as our coach.
And we would of been, if the season wasn't canceled.

You really think it was the virus that killed him?
You just said we can’t trust communist countries.
Well.. he shared a picture of him holding his ID on tube oxygen support to the internet and China tried to cover up his death due to the outrage online, delaying it and confirming it many hours later. So do I think he unfortunately died from the same virus he spoke out about, got arrested for and was on the front line's fighting. A modern hero.

With all of this happening, its important to remember the sole reason why this has spread this badly.
China.
They are still falsifying their numbers regarding this virus, a multi-billion population country and they think we believe they only have 100 new cases a day now?
If they were honest about the numbers from the start the rest of the world would of been better prepared and would of taken it more seriously. Can never trust a communist country with telling the truth.
And for those of you who think it only kills old people: one of the first whistle-blowers in China that was arrested, Wuhan doctor Li Wenliang died of the virus, non-smoker healthy 34 year old...
Prepare for the worst and hope for the best fellow CDC'ers...- 1

Good thread.
I think we are pretty much on track to clinch.
To me, P% is the most telling stat - we are 12th in the league in that regard, and 4th in the west, 1st in the Pacific.Simply stay at the same P% pace and we coast in, if we dip a bit below our average we still have a good chance at top 3 in the division.
Oh almost forgot *knocks on wood*

Liked what I saw from him. Played well with skilled players. Big, mean and above average skating.
Perhaps one of the better moves we could make this deadline, is off loading someone and making room for him. I think he is ready for a top 9 look.- 1

CANUCKS (30-18-5) at BRUINS (31-10-12)
The Game
Division leaders will try to extend their point streaks when the Vancouver Canucks visit the Boston Bruins at TD Garden on Tuesday.
The Pacific Division-leading Canucks are 5-0-1 in their past six games following a 4-3 shootout loss to the Carolina Hurricanes on Sunday. Vancouver is 14-3-1 in its past 18 games.
The Bruins, who are in first place in the Atlantic Division, have won their past three games and are 7-2-1 in their past 10.
Boston forward Jake DeBrusk will try to extend his goal streak to four games. He has five points (three goals, two assists) during a four-game point streak.
Players to watch
Canucks forward Elias Pettersson has seven points (two goals, five assists) in his past six games.
Bruins forward David Pastrnak has 29 points (12 goals, 17 assists) in his past 20 games and leads the NHL with 38 goals.
They said it
"I think it's something we look forward to. It's something we can easily get up for and it's a playoff-style hockey game and we want to be in the playoffs right with these guys and we want to compete right with them." -- Canucks forward Adam Gaudette on playing the Bruins
"They're a great team. Deep and they're playing some great hockey. So expecting a tough matchup for us. Again, they have a lot of players that play the game the right way and play hard, and also some young players that are really skilled. So you know we have our hands full and we just need to go out there and play our game." -- Bruins center Patrice Bergeron on the Canucks
Status report
The Canucks will use the same 18 skaters who dressed against the Hurricanes. … Kuraly replaces Nordstrom in the lineup for Boston.
Stat pack
Miller has nine points (four goals, five assists) during a six-game point streak. … Hughes has five points (three goals, two assists) during a three-game point streak and leads NHL rookies with 39 points (eight goals, 31 assists). … Rask has not lost at home in regulation this season (10-0-6), the longest such streak to start a season for a Bruins goalie since Gilles Gilbert in 1973-74 (16-0, one tie).

Stop making trade proposals involving Boeser...
God you would think we had it so good the last 5 years. Are we that soon to forget how awful we’ve been over that span?
Now we’re gonna trade one of our young stars who’s a character guy and a key piece to the team?
Give your heads a shake.

I'm actually going to this game -- rare for me.
Is there a way to stream the play by play while watching the game?
Is it worth it or is there a time delay?
I think it's a going to be great either way but just wondering.
You can use the NHL app to listen to audio.. there is probably going to be a 10-15 second delay however! Have fun!

Does anyone else notice any parallels between the Chicago Blackhawks power house years and the Canucks? Of course it takes time to completely fill the potential, however I do believe this core could be a contender for the next 5-10 years.
Kane = Pettersson
Toews = Horvat
Sharp = Boeser
Hossa = Miller (maybe a stretch)
Keith = Hughes
Crawford = Markstrom
You can keep going forever and keep trying to make comparable's, but these 6 are the ones that stand out to me. I feel the only position we are missing going forward is a 1st pairing RD (Seabrook). Depth wise we match up fairly with those Blackhawks teams that won cups (maybe slight edge chi).
If we could somehow land Dumba from minny (Boeser?) and Podkolzin/Hoglander become top 6 wingers we are going to be a power house.
I believe we have the foundation for a perennial contender. Skill, youth and two-way play in all the important positions.
Half baked thoughts, could be way off.
So if your post is correct, we should see Horvat and Hughes fighting each other at practice soon....

no im not disappointed in Brock but those three players I listed play with speed and have about the same amount of raw skill. Different degree of skill in different areas in their game.
All three are like Brock top six wingers.
Which would probably put up around the same amount of points , if they played here in Van.
I think most people still think he could be a 40 goal scorer. I know I do.
Brock Boeser is only 22 years old. Think about it for a second.
Lets have this discussion in 4 or 5 years, when he enters his prime, and we all know actually what kind of player he is..

There is nothing wrong with Brock. Feels like some of yall forget how young he is lol. He could and probably will become a better and more rounded player in his prime.
Complaining about a young PPG RW.. seriously??
I can name 30 other NHL teams that wish they had this guy.- 2

Myers was pretty terrible, he was the reason for the 3rd goal, and he was puck watching on the 4th goal instead of covering his man... also Edler with a brutal game and Markstrom not looking himself.. unfortunately if all 3 of these players are having an off night like tonight, we will rarely win.
Hopefully the team can bounce back and play hard next game. Lets go boys.
