  2. Probably Sergei Chibisov. “I’m a defensive dman who can join the rush once in a while,” Tryamkin said. “I can handle myself in a fight and protect my teammates.” “It may be easier for him to play in the smaller rinks,” Chibisov said. “We’d like him to get more mean, in a positive way. Cited from: http://blogs.theprovince.com/2014/06/28/canucks-can-draft-russians-again-and-they-get-a-huge-one/ I like how he thinks and how Chibisov wants Tryamkin to develop - along the lines of Chara...but "in a good way". Just do not want to see Max Pacioretty type hits...too much potential for injury and after the Bertuzzi incident we don't need black eyes like that again.
  3. DeNiro. PLEEEEEASE. Don't let him back on the bandwagon. I'm starting to get a headache from wanting to cut loose on him with four letter invective. Love how he steamrolls an opposition player. Skilled player with an abrasive edge. I like it.
  4. Good breakdown of what Benning could have used to determine his pick at 6. Sorry - can only +1 once.
  5. FFS...Just GO AWAY! Guess what. There's a team that needs a guy like you as their fan. You might know of them. They could use you in their fanbase. I think DopeyBrashear thinks he has a medical degree in arthroscopic surgery. Oh my F*NG god... I give Benning credit for having a SCOUTING background... YOU not so much!
  6. Dear God. Stop with the damned national puns. After hearing all of the country puns...Iran... Back on track... I like the fact that all three are on the same page. Now whether it translates to the on-ice product, well...we'll just have to wait and see.
  7. OK... "Bandwagon Fans". All off at the next stop! Both management and players have to be on the same page to be able to work towards the common goal. That's the recipe in every successful business. This is the most hope I've seen in 44 years. The Canucks are in good hands and I look forward to this season...as I have for the past 44 years. Maybe...just maybe... we'll see a Cup in our future.
  8. God almighty, that gave me nightmares of the 80s...
  9. For a "proven" GM; telling a head coach he can't "pick his assistants" - (if that's true); ranks up there in stupidity like Quinn calling Gretzky and telling him to "make a decision". Yeah, I'm sure Pittsburgh will be fine too...but I'll enjoy gloating over the fact that Rutherford got turned down for a while.
  10. Rupe. You're only as old as you "think you are". I'm 44 turning "14".
  11. Looks like PIT won't be trading with VAN any time soon. ~evil laughter~ First Benning, now Desjardins. Rutherford: "I thought we had a deal, then he decides to go the other way." Look at it this way, Jimmy, if Benning signed with PIT, you'd be out of a job opportunity.
  12. OK...Let's not go overboard here. I've been sitting here watching for 43 years and have yet to see one despite many changes. Hopefully this "hope and change" is different and we do see results.
  13. Despite the fact that he was a 1994 Ranger, Tick was one of the guys who embraced being a Canuck as well during his short time here. I choose to overlook the 62 games in 1996-97 before he got traded to the Rangers. Part of that problem I think was Tom Renney.
  14. LA up 3-0. How's that again? All flash; no finish. SS:DT. (Same s***; different team) "It's a team that's well?built, that is tough to play against. They find ways to win and they've certainly done that so far." Well, gee, I thought I was listening to a rebroadcast of the press conference AV had when he was coaching against the Bruins in 2011. Call me when AV has the Cup. AV may not have been THE problem, but he certainly was a contributing factor to THE problem.
  15. I remember that one. Yep. Probably the first time the Tick was speechless.
  16. Anybody wanna see if "Benning trades half the core for the first thru sixth picks." <--- Now that's just being silly.
  17. Well, considering Babcock's meteoric rise with Anaheim (going to the Finals with them in 2003 in 7 games losing only to the NJ Devils); let's hope that if we take a chance on Desjardin with the head coaching position, that we have the next Mike Babcock who can motivate his players; teach the young players the ropes and singlehandedly get them to where the Canucks have a shot at the Cup (the playoffs). But that's a hell of a load to put on a coach who hasn't had much NHL experience in an assistant coach position let alone as a head coach. Anaheim rolled the dice on Babcock considering his lack of NHL experience and Detroit reaped the benefits. Call it a lucky break. We, on the other hand, may not be so lucky.
  18. So what's "Dejardins moustache's" coaching stats like. Is he related to Willie Desjardin? How would the Canuck's veterans take to being coached by a moustache? And does his moustache have the experience to be an NHL coach, after observing from such a vantage point in the CHL? Seriously though, would assistant coaching two years at the NHL level be enough after only being in the head coaching position of the Texas Stars for ONE single season? Looks to me like another "Let's get Dallas Eakins" bet to me. Let's just hope that Desjardin learned from the backlash when Eakins shot off his mouth at Torts (regardless of how anyone feels about Torts, that was a blatant lack of respect comparative to what Torts has done in this league and what Eakins has done as a rookie NHL coach - Just shut up and coach!). My money is on hoping that LA says that the Canucks can talk to Stevens and we get him.
  19. Compared to the 2011 post-Stanley Cup locker-room clearout where he was non-committal about coming back.
  20. I think it was because I was always interested in everything that my parents were doing. Octopi tend to like to grab things.
