  1. Given that this team plays a fairly disorganized game, I'm in the camp of getting this team playing the right way, winning games so some of our players like Garland and boeser aren't being sold low.

To many underperforming players on this team is because of POOR TEAM PLAY.

Get that straightened out first, then start to restructure our roster by moving out unwanted players to give us a more balanced lineup.

How long will it take RT to do this?

This is a sacrificial year we work on coaching our players to play the right way, then slowly move out as many players as we can either at the deadline for picks or in the off-season. Then we can look at players moving up in our system and ufas to build the type of roster we want.

What was the issue with Bear other than the size? Both OEL and Hughes were far better with Bear than they were with their usual partners.

Bear is also built like a fridge and isn't exactly a soft player. In my eyes he kind of solidified the belief that hes a strong choice for a 2nd pairing.

We need someone who is reliable and is a budget player.  He fits our needs right now. If we were to manage to be in a good cap position then maybe we can upgrade from him .  I'd sign him with no trade restriction and then he's tradable for a pick when  our cap space is solved.

  3. When the team has struggled over the last two tears they look very disorganized as a whole. There is just an unusual amount players playing bad or not up to potential.

So the systems need to be sorted out first before proper player evaluation can be determined.

I personally believe that if that is fixed then we may see a better OEL, Myers, boeser and Garland. That said there is also a personal problem. There is not enough a**holes on this team. Or maybe none.

    We have a pushover team.

Hard to evaluate a d core when your goaltending socks, team structure is bad on you have a bunch pansies on your team. That's why guys like Burroughs and JT are important to this team.

    Team structure

    Grit and a**holes

Then let's move forward from there.

  4. We have enough talent as is to ice a good team.

Priority 1 (if we can't get anything for BB and the shrimp as is)is to get this team playing the right way and boost the value of those players. Be patient we will get something for them.

I have a hard time believing Myers is so bad Noone will want him once his bonus is paid.

Beau isn't part of the problem and doesn't need to be traded. He's worth his hit and plays the right way.

We can only hope oel bounces back to the point where he is decent until such point as buyout makes sense.

The issues with this team have been primarily mis diagnosed.  So many players have appeared underperformung because this team plays the wrong way. A disorganized mess. Get them playing the right way then work on changing out certain players for some Bonifide douchbags and a stay at home roughness dman .

We are only about 3 players away from icing a contender.

Are they really catering to the two of them? Or is management recognizing the skill and ability these two have, which is elite, and building a team with them that is formidable? I love how Seattle plays. They have a team that plays for each other, with a pack mentality, much like Vegas and Florida. They've been successful because the focus hasn't been on one or two players but on playing as a unit and winning.

The teams that are top heavy with gargantuan contracts generally don't get very far because you have some really top end pieces surrounded by spare parts. What is the identity of the Laffs or the Soilers? Do they even have one? Clearly part of their identity wasn't being hard to play against, as both Florida and Vegas played a harder, heavier game and beat them. The Canucks need to focus as much on getting players who play a physical game, as they do on making sure they have enough players with speed and skill. People keep on harping on the idea that larger more physical players are on the way out, yet every time the playoffs happen, certain tyoes of teams usually make it through to the conference finals and beyond.....

I've been harping on this for two years now while everyone harps on our need for d , you win cups with Ryan Kesler not Marcus naslunds.

  6. I need to see how he performs in a canuck uniform

We are in a position where we can't rebuild and wait for picks to develope because of where we are at with Pete, Quinn and demko

There are to many good pics here to rebuild.

Our main thing is cap, no gritty douchy players and a great stay at home d.

But we have a great few players to build around.

That was the reason for the trade.

Matthews $11.6, Taveres $11.0, Marner $10.9, Nylander $6.9 = 45.4% of the Laffer Cap. I won't mention Rielly at $7.5 or their tender Murray (not even dressing) at $4.7 M. Almost half the Cap going to 4 players says a lot about icing a team with little secondary scoring. Obviously Seattle didn't buy the Laffer play book. I can only hope that Allvin doesn't either as he heads towards resigning Petey and Hughes. Look south and not east Patrick!!!

People seriously underate the value of 3rd and 4th line players. Top line players eat up all the cash. It's a little out of balance at times.

I think it's funny that people think that what they have done at the end of this year will really translate to next year. It just doesn't. Who says we played so well at the end of last year, let's continue on playing like that. There are too many months in between and new players that will be added to think about the way they played February to March. They just need to get off to a hot start. They seem to always trudge along and only kick it into high gear when a coaching change is made. Big holes to fill this summer. I am not sure if it is possible to do so.

It's equally funny to think they could tank on purpose and then come out flying next year.

The whole idea right now is to use the games to get the players to play the way he wants them to.

Sure it's no guarantee that if they end well they will start well.

Big holes to fill. Got to empty a few or we can't fill anything.

I never have and never will cheer for my team to lose. Any player on the team not trying to win shouldn't be on the team.

How would it affect the team going into next year if they were setup to lose going down the stretch this year. There is enough talent on this team that we shouldn't be losing anyway.....something else has been wrong with this team.

The last 20 games this year is our training camp for next year. It's structure time and player performance reviews for next year.

If we were in rebuild then it may be different, but were not.

I'd rather take the route they are taking and drop 5 spots.

    Just draft well.

    Excuses.

Horvat was making just under $16000.00 per day every day of the year.  Think about that for a minute. !!!

That's money that comes from fans in one way or the other. So it was hard for him here. All that stuff is part of pro sports.

And if this team ever won a cup the support here would shake mother earth.

There are too many people on this forum that take their biased beliefs too seriously and want to be proven right over other posters.

It was Miller vs Horvat here for a while and Miller lovers just won't stop and they will turn blind to Miller's weaknesses to dump on Horvat. I think the latest nonsense was how he would refuse to fight for Garland being punched in the face. It's a f*cking bull$hit that a man has to stand up for another man to earn respect in this league. What kind of f*cked-up fantasy world are these people living in? I feel like a lot of those people are living their fantasies through these players and get overly attached to certain ideas.

Bo wasn't the most physical guy but he did his job and put up the numbers like a 2C. And yes, he is overpaid at 8.5 mil and it's a good thing that we traded him. Why can't we live in a world where both of these are true and just move the f*ck on?

Maybe because he was supposed to be our leader and Garland is about three ft tall.

In another 20 years player will be wearing leotards and Stan Smyl will be watching football from his rocking chair.

Tyler Myers needs to be converted to a forward.    I see the potential .
