  1. Use Sutter and Beagle as the bottom 6 C's and top PK guys.  Interchange Sutter with Granlund or whoever is the 2nd line C when they need a switch-up.  Move him for a pick/prospect or both to a contender.

I think they swap Leipsic and Goldy in/out of that spot until they tire/slump etc and in goes the other guy. Other guy gets a break in the press box. Short leash indeed. Ideally one guys stakes a more permanent claim over the season and we move the other (or one of Baer, Granlund etc).

Don't see Sutter playing with EP40 personally. I think we see some combination of EP40, Gagner, Granlund or Gaudette at C on that line and Sutter C'ing one of the two match up/defensive/counter punch lines personally.

I would be all for Sutter staying out of the top 6 period, have him and Beagle center the 3rd and 4th line and handle PK duties.  Would rather have Granlund over Gagner between Baertschi and Pettersson, so underrated offensively and has a nice shot he can get off quick with some nice feeds by Elias.  That is a good idea to swap in/out Goldy and Leipsic, both bring their own qualities to that line.

  3. Does Goldobin get 1st shot at LW on the top line this year?  He does have some nice passing ability to setup his linemates but his leash is so short with Green.  Let him play through the mistakes Coach and let the line develop some chemistry.... put Baertschi on the 2nd line with Sutter and Elias.

  4. Just out of curiousity, do you think if Jake played with Elias, Elias could bring out the goal scoring from Jake?  We know how nifty Elias passing can be and if Jake can get himself into scoring position for some cross-crease passes, he could be in line for a definite uptick in some goals.  Not if but when Elias draws the opposition towards him, he can thread the needle to a wide open Jake for some one-timers.

  5. went back a few pages, looking for any updates on his size and weight if any one has this?  elite prospects has him at 6ft1 and 185lbs but I am sure he is heavier than that

  6. We all know Woo was a ppg player up until his injury, and then he lost his spot to Clague when he got back and this was the reason for his drop in the draft...  does he get top pairing minutes next year?  Will he continue with his offense from prior to his injury?

  7. Have you seen his passes??  Boeser is a 30g scorer in his rookie year....  now he is going to receive some of these tape-to-tape passes and with a quick snap of his wrist, instant goal scored!!  Boeser might just be a 50+ goal scorer with Hughes feeding him seeing eye passes right to him in his office

Wow.   I had no concept if him falling this far to Vancouver.   I honestly think he could be the best player out of this entire draft including Dahlin.    I am tired, been up since 6 AM my time yesterday but am currently very pumped that Canes got the best forward and Canucks may have the best Dman.

Quinn is likely a year away but I would not be shocked if he made it out of camp either - his WHC showing was impressive and he did not look out of place.   He has an edge and will become the league's next Ryan Ellis in my mind.

Wow, I am so surprised.    I think short of winning the entire lottery and taking Dahlin, this may have been Benning's pick at 2.

Shocked and very happy for the Canuck organization.

when Svechnikov was picked, and they started talking about people talking about lying about his age, hahahaha, he looks like a fully grown man, and then he started talking at his draft interview and he sounded like a 28 year old man ahahahahha

Lowering opponent touches also comes from playing with better linemates and improving our d-core significantly. I think his takeaways are a good sign too. He is so dominant and quick that he gets the puck back at a pretty high rate. The other team can't afford to take liberties with the puck. Jake forces them to move the puck quicker than they'd like because of his speed and the likeliness of him laying the body on you (which despite popular belief Jake does NOT shy away from hitting people). There are more ways of dominating the puck than being a Sedin and holding the puck for a minute in the half boards. He forces the offensive team to make bad plays with the puck with his presence alone.

Yes!!  This exactly...  His speed, size and hitting are exactly what this team needs.  He has been smarter with his hits versus looking for the big hit and when he plays like that, other teams look for him when he is on the ice and that takes them off their game.  Those takeaways are not going unnoticed by Coach Green either, so hopefully Jake can come out blazing and have the Coaches trust right away.

  10. Granlund is such an underrated player.  Just don't put him with Sutter.  He would probably be a really good complement to Boeser and Horvat or playing with Pettersson.  I can see why he was paired with Sutter as he is a capable defensive forward but in doing so just sucked the offense right out of him and in a contract year too.  I hope he stays, I like what he brings to the team.

I'm liking what I'm seeing... quick hands and practicing it regularly. Hopefully lots of shooting accuracy work too !

More backhands too please!!!  Nice stickwork, keep up the hard work and training, it will pay off.

  12. Whats the ceiling for Gadjovich?  3rd liner that plays well with puck distributors, as he did with Suzuki, but from what I read on him in the past, he put up alot of shots while playing with Suzuki, so that's a positive.

I'm hoping Benning adds Roussel to play on Sutter's LW. RW could be any of Granlund, Eriksson, Virtanen etc

Roussel and Virtanen on the same line!!!  Imagine the hits from that line, maybe switch out Sutter for Leipsic though, at least he could feed both of them.

  14. Most likely spends the next year in Utica but if he has a good year this year could be a injury callup, can't wait to see what he can do for the Comets!!!  Let him acclimate to pro hockey and learn the ropes before putting him on the 2nd line with a good centre.

  15. does anyone know who Dipietro will be competing with for starters duties at the upcoming WJC's?  it should be his with his valuable experience from the Worlds but just wondering..

  16. Less blocking shots and faster outlet passes but that is easy to say and harder to do...  seriously though, Tanev is so good at absorbing hits when retrieving pucks and taking the hit and moving the puck out a split second before, but it definitely takes a toll on his body
