Yeah I think he'll be a 40 point guy minimum. That with his speed and hitting ability is well worth the pick imo. Can find players like Ehlers and Nylander every draft, but not too many players similiar to Virtanen. He's one of the most powerful hitters I've seen and has elite speed and shot power. Has to get his accuracy back, but that will come while he gains more confidence.

he can hit like a freight train but his confidence for making hits seemed to take a huge fall when he was penalized for a late hit and went to the sin bin, needs toget his timing right to make hits on the move vs people running into him and him knocking them on their asses.  I cant wait to see him come out and knock players over left, right, and centre.

I can get used to seeing more of  this. For now I just can't stop watching this...

I am looking forward to seeing alot more of this for the foreseeable future whether it is overseas or in a Comets/Canucks uniform.  He used the same manouver in the SO didn't he, he can probably change up and shoot before going backhand to throw the goalie off.  Now get him some swedish meatballs stat....

Gaudette suprised me, and tbh Pettersson/ Horvat/ Gaudette doesn't look to shabby....Gaunce I haven't given up on yet fully, but he may be our 4C in the future....Now all I can say is we get lucky next year or the year after in the draft. Still take the best player available.

No no it doesn't does it, that's a pretty solid 3 centres for the Canucks future.

I'm of the belief we need to stay at or close to the bottom, and draft top five, for however friggin long it takes to collect a group of similar ages players who are good, and there are a couple elite guys in there too.  It's like the top Cup teams have two elite guys close to the same age, who are supplemented by a few more really good players near that age too.  We had the Twins, and they were supported by a core group of guys a few years younger, but they mostly grew as a group together.  We need to get to that place again.  I think Pettersson is a special player.  He's one.  Now we need another one.  Hopefully we get him next draft.

I agree, stockpiling prospects and high draft picks is what this team needs to do.  This team is at least 3-4 years away from being in contention and with Benning making the picks, let them marinate for a bit before they make the show, activate them in call-ups to see how fast the game is and go from there.  How long has it actually been since we had a really good prospect cupboard, (a long time if ever)?

  6. Love this pick, I was disappointed we didn't get Robertson or Ratcliffe but when Gadjovich was announced as our pick I kind of forgot he was still out there.  He has the skill and shot on top of being big and nasty.  He will provide the grit to our skilled forwards and will benefit from playing with either Pettersson or Horvat.  Horvat must be loving the picks this weekend.

The more I think about this pick, the more I love it. drafting 2 'power forwards' in the 2nd round just did wonders solidifying some size and toughness into a prospect pool that was finally developing some skill but lacked some hard nosed physicality. Guys like Virtanen, Lind, Gadjovich, and even Lockwood can hopefully supply some much need sandpaper to this future lineup.

The future is starting to look bright here, it's amazing how different our prospect cupboard looks after just a few years on Benning compared to when he got here.

This is the team Benning envisioned building when he took over, skill and grit, man that's a good prospect pool.  Will only add to it with a high pick again next year, oh and Jim please don't throw away picks in next years draft.  Please.

Robertson is a poor skater based on the scouting reports I have read so far on him. Isaac Ratcliff would be a much better optin than Robertson. Jim is high on speed. Hence, I am pretty sure that Robertson is not on Jim' List at #33. I admit that he is an excellent sniper.

speed can be taught, Horvat wasn't the fastest skater when he started
