  1. I hope so, but that is so very unlikely and unfair to say he could possibly be one of the top 5 decorated dmen in NHL history. Juolevi played on two teams with absolute stacked forwards, and probably had a lot or room because of this. This pick scares me honestly. I will be a fan of his not matter what, but I am not sure this addresses our team needs when we already have #2-7 D and I don't think Juolevi is an NHL PP QB. If he doesn't turn into that PP QB, I think it is a pick that should have been used elsewhere...I hope he is, and wish him nothing but the best of luck. I'm sure he will be a fine player.
  2. I agree. The new one looks like an airplane logo. "come fly with North Dakota Airlines..."
  3. Next year isn't worth "tanking" for anyways...supposedly a fairly weak draft.
  4. Beartschi and Etem/Virtanen, I think we sign two FA wingers. Sedin-Sedin-FA(Eriksson/Okposo) FA(Lucic)-Sutter-Hansen Baertschi-Horvat-Etem/Virtanen Guance-Granlund-Virtanen/Etem If we trade Hansen or only sign one FA winger, Vey slots in 4th line RW and the rest move up.
  5. I expect Bo to improve points per minute and +- drastically from last year, especially at home with our choice of line match-ups. If healthy, with Sutter in the lineup and taking more defensive zone faceoffs, Bo will not be lined up with the opponents top line (reason for his poor +- and our soft awful 2015-16 defense) like last year. This will give him some offensive freedom to forecheck deeper, throw more hits, and not be so worried about getting caught up ice with the opponents top scorers on the bench. The third line will also get a lesser defensive opponent (this is why the Kessel-Bonino line is doing so well imo) Add Gudbranson, Tryamkin, Edler, and remove Biega, Weber, Bartkowski and you get even that much more freedom to take some risks in the offensive zone. Every line will have one of Tanev/Gudbranson/Tryamkin as the last man back. Horvat had little freedom and mainly defensive starts last year and he still got 40 points after a crappy start. This line-up now, if healthy should be tailor made for his production per minute, and his +- to improve.
  6. You said Hutton nor Tanev should be in the top half of the d corps this season...I assumed you must have meant Tryamkin because I can't see how Tanev isn't on our top two pairings. Tanev is a third pairing d man to you?
  7. Great addition. Obviously didn't like giving up McCann and a 2nd, but you don't get a big, mean, stand-up-leader who's 6'5" 220 at 24 and RH for any less. This team, during the Markstrom-Demko era should be extremely hard to score against. Gudbranson should be a big part of that.
  8. For me to be a fan of the player, I also need to be a fan of the person. Brock makes this easy. As a father who had his daughter at Vancouver Children's Hospital and Ronald McDonald House, I look forward to having him in our community. I can already tell that he will offer more to our community than being just a good hockey player. Brock's parents must be proud of this young man.
