  1. dc, n seattle for sure

i should clear my thing about us being overrated

between ousted and our defense I think we are rated fine. One of the best in the league and toughest to play against.

Koffie and laba great dcms and tiebert is a great sub.

most of our wingers are still young and have protential so don't mind them playing alot (manneh, techera ect..)

morales imo is a bit overrated from last year. his passing ability is there just he hasn't been as good as last year.

striker though. I am not sold on rivero, he is still young and works hard but feel he is a solid bench player. Hopefully he makes me eat my words but he is no 20+goal scorer imo.

I feel without that striker we can't complete with the best in the league. People saying we are contenders are overrating our team. We might make it farther in the playoffs but not gonna make the final or win it imo. In closing we are a solid team just imo most of our goals have a lot of luck in them.

    predicting 2-1 win against montreal

I wonder if reo coker will play

Yeah no I completely I agree with you. I just don't think people think that our strikers are that good, not enough for them to be classified as overrated and make the team in general overrated.

But I see where ur coming from

  2. kah 3 goals in 2game. I wonder if he has more goals then manneh, and morales? Watson I still feel need to be causing 1-2 chances off corners with his fame. Overall really happy with the preformance and if we play up to our potential we are a contending team. I still think we are overrated as a team.

Nahh i disagree. We're potent af and every time i watch a game i feel like we will for sure pull off a W.

    DC United is overrated IMO.

  3. I could swear he had a second not long after. Same behind back kick. Although not as dramatic.

What are the odds? Ha.. his face never changed the whole time.

Haha yeah I saw that too. A bit more subtle then the first one though and no one seemed to notice.

Performance by Caps was awful though today...

  4. Brady and the Pats would have looked so much better if they had just let this one go from the start. Admit it, it's over, no drama, no stupid stories or jokes about deflated footballs or anything to do with this at all, and maybe a reduced suspension from the league.

By being stubborn as hell, even though evidence is so concrete, they've not only made themselves look like cheaters, but also liars. I can get past a team using defleted footballs nbd (seriously who cares it's a deflated footballs case not a murder case), but by continuing to deny this with new evidence seemingly surfacing every day makes them look even worse and makes me lose much more respect for them for trying to cover up and lie. From a team standpoint as well, there's absolutely no logic for trying to ruin your reputation even more, as well as negating your chances of getting the suspension reduced.

I'm getting soooo tired of hearing about deflated footballs, so hopefully the Pats are smart enough to just let this go and just end for the sake of everyone, literally everyone. Garoppolo is more than a capable quarterback on a team as talented as the Pats, with a coach as good as Belichick, shouldn't really make too much of a difference anyway.

  5. Rimando puts himself in the position to make very tough saves. Gotta give credit to him making those kinda saves, but they're completely unnecessary when you have a keeper like Ousted who's so good at judging and cutting off crosses into the box and making the easy play instead.

Not to say Rimando is a bad keeper, his footwork and reflexes are second to none in the MLS.

  6. Meh, over a PPG. Won gold at the WJC, and got some AHL playoff experience. All while not getting to train last summer. While I won't argue he could have had a BETTER season, he also could have had a much worse one. Looking forward to see what he can do with a good off season of training.

It doesn't make one a hater to state a fact... His season was disappointing and I don't see how you can argue with that.

Dear Sour Grapes, have you ever had shoulder surgery? If not keep the wine to yourself.

That's the definition of homerism right there.

Now if he was drafted by another team then he probably didn't play up to expectations right? And if his season wasn't disappointing then tell me what your definition of disappointing is. The kid was a 6th overall pick...

He ABSOLUTELY had an underwhelming season which was plagued with injury and had him pinned down in the depth chart. I am excited as well to see what he can do with a healthy shoulder and training this offseason, but just because he was drafted by my favourite team isn't going to all of the sudden affect how I think his season went.

Once again, it doesn't make anyone a hater for thinking/realizing Virtanen had a disappointing season, and if anyone thinks otherwise, then idek what to say

Also, to "one night," his shoulder surgery is part of the reason his season was disappointing, and I'm sure you'd agree with me

Yes, you can write all you want about Nylander and whether he'll make the NHL in the Nylander prospect thread, wherever you happen to find that thread.

It has nothing to do with Virtanen's development.

Compare and contrast. No one would be talking about Nylander if we had drafted outside Toronto's pick last year, so it does have to do with Virtanen, since we could have picked Nylander.

  8. A strong 14-15 season? Someone should inform some of the haters who claim he had a disappointing season.

  9. Something I found interesting is if you look in their draft update video they have some rankings in the background with Boeser at 12. Don't want to read too much into as it looks like Nattinen is at 13 but interesting.

Also looks like Ek is right above Boeser...

    Interesting... where is this?

  11. Travis Sanheim-17th overall pick for PHI had a better statistical year than his teammate Virtanen, and he's supposed to be a physical, defensive defenceman.

    Just pointing it out lol

  12. Playing on the 1st line in WHL this season...? Someone didn't follow his season at all...

Lol sorry, my bad. Does he play on the 2nd line?

I've seen clips and portions of Hitmen games just assumed his line was the first line

  13. You are right grape. Not only that, but if Virtanen gets a spot on the Canucks he takes it away from Alexandre Grenier who is the third best forward in Utica, developed on the farm and produced well, and is at the age where he really needs to get an opportunity before he is too old.

Considering all that he has accomplished plus his physical attributes it would suck to see him not penciled in on the 4th line to see what he can do.

I agree 100%. Couldn't have said it better myself. Grenier's waited long enough and has really improved other the course of his career through basically every league, would definitely have him over Virtanen.

  14. This raises a point, though I'd differ in approach focussing on where he'll best develop instead of where he deserves to play. Earning your spot is just one of the factors to consider in a player's development.

Some think NHL players develop best in the NHL. Imo that is best for some and not as good for others.

Virtanen physically is capable of playing in the NHL. I suspect that mentally and defensively he's closer to being ready than some give him credit for, but for other reasons wonder if he might be better in Jr again. Those are:

-offense-between his shoulder injury and his commitment to work on his defence, and possibly other factors (I've seen coaching and playing a different wing mentioned as potential factors in other CDC posts) his scoring didn't go up like one often sees from top prospects. It might not do him any harm to do a bunch of scoring in junior-in fact it may be good for his offensive creativity.

-some have mentioned that it would be nice if he isn't expected to carry too much of the team's deterrent weight in the NHL next season.

otoh, Virtanen's strength and speed are perhaps overly dominant in many situations in junior.

It will interesting seeing what happens in training camp.

Yes, he has all the physical ability in the world to play in the NHL, and playing in the NHL is probably the better way to develop him, but that's the case for about every prospect. However, if he can barely score a point per game in the WHL playing on the first line, and also go on a decline in goal production after being drafted, I don't see any reason for everyone to be so optimistic thinking he'll definitely succeed in the NHL next year, I can't seem to find the logic in that.

People can argue "Oh well he is more NHL ready than anyone in his draft class," well if that's the case why isn't he dominating the much more smaller, weaker, slower, less complex, CHL? The NHL gives you much less room to maneuver and if Virt can't play up to expectations in Calgary than he shouldn't be up in the NHL.

Wait till he starts dominating the dub and then we'll see what he can do up here, but that's just my opinion.

  15. With 100% honestly, and completely unbiased, I do not think it was an intentional hit.

Burrows was looking for the puck when Gaustad turned, and I know it sounds cliche but I really think he was trying to protect himself when he moved his shoulder ever so slightly. I think he tried tucking his shoulder in more than he tried leaning in with it. Either way, I just don't see how a player trying to attack another player can just run into him so smoothly like Burrows did without any change of direction. Plus, there was absolutely no motive for a headshot like that. It's incidental contact and there's no question in my mind that that's true.
