Love it, thank you Benning. Makes things less gloomy.

Kole Lind must be licking his chops this offseason.
With the Canucks losing out on Toffoli leaves a glaring spot beside Bo Horvat on the rightside. I don't know if Kole Lind is ready for prime time, but if anything our lack of activity in FA so far has open a door for Kole Lind to potentially seize. I hope he does. i think his overall game would really benefit Bo. Kole has the skill to get pucks on the sticks of players. He also developed a really good gritty sandpaper game which allowed him to win a lot of puck battles and touches with the puck.
I was hoping in 2 years time he would be groomed for that position beside Bo, but seems like the future is now for the Canucks.
Totally fine with it, play the kids.
We need to inject ELC's into our lineup now.

A bit of an overreaction.
Yeah it sucks we lost our UFA's but Benning obviously has something in the works behind the scenes.
It must good enough to lose Tanev, Marky, and Tofu to free agency.
Let's wait and see what happens.

If we offer Cernak 4.2mil/yr, Tampa won't match it because they're more focused on Sergachev and they will get a 2nd round pick back (which they're missing in 2021).
In my mind, that's a no brainer.

Not a bad idea tbh.
That said, I'm not sure NJ can afford to trade him, he's their only leader on the blueline.

Maybe something in the works with TBL to package Cernak with TJ?
There must be a trade involving RFA's and we need the cap space to sign the newly acquired player.

I get what you're saying but 4.25x4 for 20 plus goals a year is not an anchor....
A very good deal.
Great $ and term for top 6 goal scorer.
Not sure why we couldn't sign him, when we have 8mil in cap space.
-
None of this makes sense. What is Benning up to?
-
So far this off season is a giant L.
All I can think of now is Benning wants to get younger and needed the cap space for upcoming trades.
Time will tell.

Yup just make it work somehow someway. I wouldn’t be afraid to give petro a big contract. Guys not gonna slow down for 5 years imo. Defencemen of that caliber have more longevity then most. It would be a game changer.
So important, specifically for mentoring our young defenseman. I really hope Benning makes this happen.

2.5mil is fair. Pay the man.

2x 1.7M AAV

I don't blame him at all, best of luck Troy!

Canucks have had no intention of signing Stecher and our offer is likely less than other teams.
I don't blame him for signing elsewhere.
We'll see though.
-
Honestly, I'm glad we didn't sign him.

They would want more than that, so we may as well offer sheet, but NYR have the cap to match any offer, so it's kind of pointless.
There's no way they let him go.

May as well sign Tofu now

Good luck Tanev.
I wonder what JB is brewing.

I'm surprised he's still in the league tbh

Nothing is confirmed yet

Very interesting, good for him

Wait is this not confirmed?

We offered him a deal but guaranteed this is all about a NMC.

[Trade] Golden Knights trade Nate Schmidt to Canucks for 2022 3rd-round pick

From what I'm reading, hes a very upbeat guy, loved by Vegas fans. Can contribute offensively and is solid in his own end. Just some flaws here and there.
Sounds like an upgrade to me.
Hughes - Schmidt
Edler - Myers
Juolevi - Rafferty
I like it.
