i had a surprize visitor last night.
young j.i.a.h.n. dropped by on his way to rupert. had a nice chap. 2nd time he's stopped by. we both agreed that deb was canuck's #1 fan.

a weird thought. what if the west finals were between vegas and seattle? the 2 newest teams in the league.

if ALLVIN can trade miller and boeser and attain 2 d-men, this will be a great win. hi-ho allvin.
then if the owner allows a OEL buyout, walla.
-
imo, players should also carry some risk for their futures.
say a player gets an 8x8 contract
..their base salary should be 5 mil with bonuses to take it 8 mil.
then if their skill decline, so should their bonus money.
-
You'll never get the players to agree to that...
also while it would be a great incentive, which metrics would you be able to use to calculate, what they should be paid, if they played in a team not winning the cup. Or even worse, a team at the bottom of the league.
Petey or Quinn would never re-sign in Vancouver if this was the case...

any team that tanks on purpose shouldn't be able bto draft first or second.

Its a dream, that will never be realised...
The idea is to keep the league competitive, but totally agree on your sentiments... its rotten to see teams come out and say they'll tank on purpose, and not very competitive...
Big issue also, how do you administer, who tanks and who's just rank rotten...

i'll have respect for management when instead of saying what is wrong with the team, they actually do something to fix it. if it's the coaches, let them go, if its the make up of the team, change it.
if it's ownership, put the blame at their feet.
-
after their poor start, i started asking everytime they got the puck, what are you going to do with it? answer was always, give it to montreal. i fell asleep when it was 4 0. don't know if they played better in the,3rd. hard to watch.

who skates with bedard?
c 2nd line?

my great horse picking lives on. my pick not only came last, the jockey fell off. hope deb did better than me?

why wouldn't JT not sign for 8.250 mil over 6 years 49.500 mil.
retire at 37.
-
Probably because he could get additional 2x 8.25 on the contract.
He may even still retire at 37, if he falls off a cliff edge. But players want as much as they can, unless there are outside reasons for them to take less.
Sedins as they wanted to remain in VCR and probably didn't fancy being seperated. Some players wanna 'come home' (Garrison/Hamhuus) etc.Don't think that is Miller unfortunately, as he has been around and seen what youngsters are being paid straight from the go... probably a little envious even. But it would be great if that was the out come.

sort of JBish so far. i was hoping for fireworks.

on locked on nashville, apparently nashville has inquire about miller. they say they would love to get miller but are nervous at what it would cost them.
-
That's exactly the way most teams will feel about going after Miller.
He is an ageing player, you may want to purchase, but if it is going to cost you the future, they will be apprehensive...
Hence my concern, we will not get a Kingdom for him....although that's not to say we won't get anything good coming back.

canacks listening to proposals on both miller and boeser according to drager.
-
could we be looking at a colorado sweep?
-
am i missing something? is huggy a terrible scorer that he never get used in shootouts?
-
can you trade miller and boeser and completely change this team into a playoff contender?
-
You're right Deb, and until yesterday, I was on the let us run with horses, and maybe |I overreacted to the result, but I just thought we are really thin in the group, and we are only and injury to Miller away from the card house collapsing.
Petey a slash away from being out of the picture, Brock devoid of confidence etc etc
If we end up getting a poor return for Miller for a single playoff run, which I'm not even sure will materialise, I think we will be kicking ourselves for years to come...
Trust me, I'm sick of losing, and would NEVER advocate losing..
Bruce coming in and getting the team some success, has made me get up at 3am most nights, as it's been so joyful... both watching and the banter on CDC... .
Actually didn't think I'd get so invested in the team and CDC when I started, but there are so many great guys and girls posting here, that its become my favourite past time.
And again you may be right Deb, as Miller is the one player, who actually shows some life and emotion during the game... at least he cares...

True Deb... and there is no guarantee in sports and especially in team building. Hit and misses... Nobody expected JT to become such a sensation...
However, the team seems 'thin' and are in need of upgrades on several positions, and they won't come cheap, hence we need to take hard decisions...
Keeping Miller would be nice, but feel it will come at the expenses of an upgrade on the D... Will be interesting to see, how Alwyn sees it... and if there actually is a deal of value out there to be made... it takes two to tango...

I have finally made my mind up as well Joe...
I am also in favour of a smaller retool. I am not sure Miller and Brock will be enough as we to shed some of of D to make room for the improvements... I'm not pointing to anyone in particular, but obviously QH is an untouchable unless something ridiculous comes up.
OEL is probably also going to stay as no many would fancy taking on that contract, unless we take some dump back... so think it leaves Poolman, Hamonic and Myers... Think Burroughs and Schenn makes too little to make a difference,
On the forward end I would expect the team to try to an get bigger (stronger) and faster, so I would not be surprised to see Dickinson and maybe Hogs fave the chop as well... Or it could be Garland instead...
Finally Would be surprised to see Motte traded together with one of the aforementioned in a bigger deal... Gotta give to get...
Some of these trades could happen this years TDL or off season, and some next year... But I would not be surprised to see some serious changes to the line up, if they are true to their word.

I think you gotta re-sign Motte if you can get a competitive deal done.
Everything he brings is an asset to the team/makes a difference.
I do think there’s a bit more offensive upside to him if he can stay healthy.
Either in a match up role on Bo’s wing (like Leivo) or keep Lammiko’s line together and make that your third line/ build a new 4th line.
Discuss.

When can we be happy
