Just got back from work, and saw Stamkos get hit and kneed.
I liked Montreal yesterday, but doing that to Stamkos made me lose 100% of respect to Emelin, and a chunk from the team. And seriously Canadien fans? Booing the injury?
Classless.
I think they thought he was faking it (can't blame them after all cause there are a lot of players in the east that do that to draw calls).
-
its similar to that disallowed goal against Dallas with Vancouver in that the refs told a confusing reason for disallowing the goal but made the right call. In fact its exactly the same in that lethonin initiated contact which is why the goal was disallowed.
I guess if your a goalie and someones in your goal crease and you bump into him then a goal goes in then it is in a way goaltender interference but fans have trouble understanding that unless they actually play goalie.
Bottom line. The right call was made.
-
Price hit the guy in the crease so it makes sense. Killorn also put price to side of his net and if you look at it from the refs prespective this is already goaltender interference. So two reasons the goal shouldnt count but only one that is made which is right since price somehow recovered.

What a game. I like how both teams are generating lots of scoring chances. Atmosphere in Montreal is best in the league.
As for the disallowed goal its a tough call cause you need to understand the rulebook to get it.
At first I thought Tampa got robbed of the goal but when Friedman and Maclean explained the rule its clear the right call was made. The refs need to explain calls like that like Friedman did cause most fans don't have the nhl rulebook with them.

Nice goal.
That's what a puck mover can do for your offense.
I can't believe how management didn't realize how crucial Ehrhoff was to the Canucks offense
I heard he lit it up in buffalo. Salo>Ehrhorr
The worst team in the league?
He actually put up good numbers there considering who he was playing with.
Deniro I believe Canucks73_3 was replying to how relevant Ehrhoff was to our teams offense which is what you were originally taking about. In that case he is surprisingly correct. Ehrhoff's effect on the team is misunderstood on these boards.
2011 With Salo(Played 27 games) and Ehrhoff #1 PP, #1 Goals For
2012 With Salo(played 69 games) #4 PP, #5 Goals For
Watch what happens next year to the league rank when Salo leaves
2013 Without neither Ehrhoff or Salo # 22 PP, #19 Goals For
That fall from top of the league to bottom is huge and if you look at the roster changes between 2011/2012 and 2012/2013 the only major one was Salo leaving so it's clear he is clearly more valuable to the teams offense then Ehrhoff who as we all know didn't play a single game for us in 2011/2012 as he was no longer part of the team (In theory all MG needed to do was keep one of them and he would have been fine but we all know what happened).
2012 was Salo's healthiest seasons since the lockout with the canucks so his effect became even greater that year. Salo was with the sedins since the entered the league so the chemistry they both had was out of this world and when the sedins emerged as star players salo being there behind them to know how to feed them the puck properly made their point totals even higher, combine that with AV's intelligent use of the sedins and that is what made them succeed.

Can you spot the fail?
Should be Rene (haha ray bourque came out of retirement)
-
The losses of Bishop and Palat are really hurting them.
Not really both games have been relatively close if you don't look at the score for the second one.
-
This is by far the best series in the playoffs. The tampa fans and organization create a great playoff atmosphere that all other series fail to have and despite the score this game, these teams are pretty even. I hope this goes for seven games.
I think Tampa can easily come back cause price doesn't look that good in net, his defense has bailed him out many times in the last few games. Can't wait till next game in Montreal (always a good playoff atmosphere there).

How about Messier as GM?
don't ruin the mood dude we are all in good mood right now.

Given his history, Trevor Linden was probably going to be President someday. This is super fast tracked though.
.... In Trevor we trust.
Considering how gillis basically let go of Linden, Naslund and Morrison in his first year and 6 years later trevor has a successful business and gillis is fired, I think this is the perfect time.
-
I didn't know much about Trevor before today because my first time watching this team was 2006/2007 playoffs and (missed most next season) but from what I have seen today I realize why he is beloved by this fan-base.
He is such a great communicator and has so much class. During the one on one interview with Sportnet, John garret asked a question that basically asked him to brag about himself and he answered his question but at the end he said "That being said I still got a lot to learn" and then went to explain how he would do it. From that question right there it showed how accountable, confident yet classy he is.
He has this contagious positive energy around him and I hope it leads to the team being mentally tougher cause as we can all sit here and debate how injuries and bad luck ruined the season, if the team is mentally tough like how Ottawa was last year and Detroit this year we would have done a bit better even if it means a few more wins.
Staying on the hockey Trevor also said that he thinks the style of play should have an equal emphasis on both defense and offense in his words "Play sound hockey without compromising the offense".
Overall got a great impression of him today and if that's the impression he makes on everyone I like this move for the future of this team.

What are Bob Nicholson's credentials for the GM job? President sure. But what makes him a great candidate for the GM job?
I don't see it.
this has to be worse than AV's firing(team struggled to score after and got hit with a load of injuries) and letting Salo go (PP took a nosedive after he left)

Goddamn it!
The Canucks always do something big when I have a ton of work to do!
This firing has me HOURS behind schedule...
Must...close....browser.....window.....
LOL

What MG said in his 1040 interview is perfectly described at 1:54 of this video

Go on Bettman's personal facebook page and hire random friends so he won't dare screw us anymore.
LOL

I don't know how to feel about this yet. Came as a shock, expected him to get another year.
same cause this is his first time missing the playoffs.
-
Feaster at least has a Stanley Cup on his resume....
so does torts and carlyle? How are they working out? When people come north of the border everything changes. Thats why firing MG was a huge mistake.

Huge mistake...mark my words.
Prepare for dark times CDC unless ownership have a really good GM lined up.
your not the only one that thinks that. we all know they are coming now. Just can't believe they let MG go after he missed the playoffs once. Also the deadline for season ticket renewals are tomorrow. This is more of a money move then a logical hockey move. Gillis was just trying to rebuild and he never got his shot.
Now it's crystal clear ownership wanted torts as MG was never on the same page with him on his style of play.

Guy misses the playoffs 1 year in his entire run as GM after having the most success this franchise has ever seen & ownership fires him HAHAHAHA.
What a joke this ownership group is.
Deadline for season ticket renewals is April. 9th look at the date today. This ownership is going to lose a lot more money from this firing in the long term just a bad bad move.
Ownership is the problem.

I agree.
People here have no clue...including me. We don't know the issues behind the scene or what develops under the surface. People want to chant something and glom onto whatever it is in a hot ticket item deal. Rah rah rah.
Fire AV. Fire Gillis. Vote for Rory. It's never ending.
I, for one, feel MG did a good job for the most part and think we keep looking for fall guys and a process of elimination means we have to have replacements. They aren't always guaranteed to be upgrades. We'll see, but I am apprehensive and don't feel the urge to rejoice here.

Mike Gillis will win a cup with another organization before the Canucks win the cup.
If only you could downvote me all to hell!
totally agree with you firing AV and gillis have to be this organizations worst moves in their history. Now it's basically a guarantee we will suck for 5-10 years. Gillis was just starting to rebuild this team (kassian, horvat, shinkaruk, Maithas,) they fired him to early.

I am absolutely astonished at this damn fan base.
How many people are saying this is a mistake now? Give me a break.
We've been calling for his head for 2 years!
Mike Gillis, is a classless buffoon, and this organization can finally get back on track without him at the helm.
You tools need to wake up.
The stupid people were the ones calling for AV's head and that resulted in his firing which has been a disaster so far. Now that gillis is gone the queit people who supported gillis are expressing their frustration since they know this is bad move.

ADSF: (2) Tampa Bay Lightning vs (3) Montreal Canadiens
in General Hockey Discussion

Are you from Boston?
Anyways as bad as it would be, it is quite likely if you look at it realistically considering,
So everyone expecting Montreal to beat Boston just remember all of that. But this series was fun to watch too bad its over...
