So first off, the Canucks have only played 30 games (of 76) vs teams that are currently in a playoff position. :bigblush:

Garrison is -13 in these 30 games. In games that mean the most, and are allegedly used to show the best just where you and your team stand in this league, he is -13.

Some say the (+/-) stat is useless. But its not. Especially when its spread out over a whole season. It is rating of how you play 5 on 5, which is the bulk of every game. Some say, a guy just steps onto the ice, on a bad change, and get a (-) and its not fair. What about stepping onto the ice and your team scoring. Is this fair? It all evens out in the end when using a large sample size.

I did this with Edler and Bieksa too and not surprisingly the same thing happened. In fact this might be true for most dmen in the NHL.

  2. Unrelated but hilarious

dude have you seen ours its 10x worse than the leafs in fact its the biggest drop on the entire graph

its the red graph that is near the top and then falls all the way close to 0% then has a tiny rebound not sure if anyone can see but the top is easier to spot then the bottom.

  3. Feel free to share with us what teams were willing to offer such returns for either goalie. Oh, you don't have any sources to back that up? Ah, that's ok, I knew you didn't. I've seen or heard almost all the reliable rumours that were around for both goalies.

And that's the problem, as much as not moving either goalie to avoid the controversy was an issue, it's not like he was swimming in offers and declined trades to try and get an unreasonable return for either goalie. Not only were teams not calling with offers of the 9th overall pick, an underrated 3rd line center and a former 'best outside the NHL' goalie prospect with some question marks, the only teams that were calling either had owners who couldn't back a deal without us taking back or keeping significant cap dumps, or called with lowball offers almost to the point of ridicule which they then pulled from the table just prior to deadlines.

If you think Gillis is a bad GM because he didn't get all that in one trade, then you'll think the same of pretty much any GM in the league.

+1 you just owned the guy

  4. Basically a must-win at this point.

I mean, it's almost impossible to make it now.....but the little ray of light will still be there if we match Phoenix's win with one of our own.

Law of the canucks: If it is a must win game then you must lose

    Example:

    • Game 7 in the SCF in 1994
    • Game 7 in the SCF in 2011
    • Trying to make the playoffs in 2007/2008

Therefore, expect a loss, a blowout loss.

  5. What pisses me off is that the lack of updates on Alberts, last time I heard he wasn't doing to well, I hope he recovers quickly.

don't we have like only one loss with him in the line up? He has the Jeff Tambellini effect on him.

  6. What from I am reading here, the basic argument is that Mike Gillis is a good GM because he drafted better than Dave Nonis...

    That's not saying much.

The fact that the Canucks had both Luongo and Schneider here a year ago and now have neither of them is enough in my opinion to have him fired.

The fact that the Canucks signed Lou to such a ridiculous contract is proof to me that they had no foresight at all regarding the future of their goaltending. In addition to that, they ended up being 'penny wise and a pound foolish' by writing the stupid contract to lower the cap hit, when in fact they ended up handcuffing themselves for years to come.

Vancouver used to be an attractive place to play for Canadian free agents, but I would say management's style of handling their assets has caused the team's reputation to take a bit of a hit.

Most of Gillis' acquisitions aren't anything to write home about either. The fact that Luongo and Schneider trades combined only fetched one NHL roster player (Matthias) is pretty sad. (I still don't consider Markstrom a roster player, as Vancouver can't even trust him to start one game since acquiring him)

I also think Gillis' attitude towards fans in general stinks. Management does nothing to reward the fans that already pay too much to watch this product, and season ticket holders were basically told a bunch of half hearted BS regarding the team's current status, but oh hey, guess what! Prices are going up!

Give those poor bastards a coupon for a free beer or Big Mac or something. My advice to season ticket holders: Get Giants tickets instead. Cheaper hockey and less BS.

  7. Torts announces that Lack gets the start. Markstrom finally decides enough's enough and scraps with Lack in the hallways before the game, camera's see everything, both are suspended six games after a hearing in new york and the canucks lose the remaining games and miss the playoffs.

  8. They haven't choked yet they are still in a playoff spot but if they lose their next two games.....

Considering how good of a series they had with Boston I wouldn't mind seeing them make the playoffs cause we all know choking is better in the playoffs. :)

  9. Since Henrik is being honoured at the beginning of the game for his 1000th game thought I'd find his best goals. Third video is the best by far.

(watched this one live was my first NHL game)

If there is anymore you can think of post them
