Canucks_fo_life
SNOWFALL WARNING: Greater Vancouver Issued at 10:34 PM PST THURSDAY 11 DECEMBER 2008 5 TO 10 CM OF SNOW IS EXPECTED OVER THE FRASER VALLEY AND THE HIGHER TERRAIN AROUND METRO VANCOUVER FRIDAY THROUGH FRIDAY NIGHT. 2 TO 4 CM OF SNOW IS FORECAST OVER GREATER VICTORIA AND EAST VANCOUVER ISLAND EXCEPT 10 CM OVER INLAND SECTIONS FRIDAY THROUGH FRIDAY NIGHT. THIS IS A WARNING THAT SIGNIFICANT SNOWFALL IS EXPECTED OR OCCURRING IN THESE REGIONS. MONITOR WEATHER CONDITIONS..LISTEN FOR UPDATED STATEMENTS. An explosively deepening low pressure system will move inland near the US border on Friday. Precipitation will spread overnight from Vancouver Island eastwards to the lower mainland in time for the morning commute. With overnight temperatures hovering near zero, very wet snow is expected in most inland areas and over higher elevations with a rain-snow mix closer to the ocean. Fluctuating freezing levels and precipitation intensity add to the complexity of snow amount forecasts for this storm. However higher elevations of Metro Vancouver can expect 5 cm of wet sloppy snow with a mix of rain and snow likely near sea level, 5 to 10 cm are forecast over the Fraser Valley and 2 to 4 cm of snow are expected over Greater Victoria and east Vancouver Island except 10 cm over higher terrain and inland sections there. When winds shift to northwest directly off the relatively warm ocean near Vancouver later in the day the snow may change back to rain before the event ends in the evening. An Arctic front moves onto the coast from the interior for the weekend. Strong outflow winds may produce localized snow squalls along the east coast of Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands through Sunday while the rest of the coast remains sunny very cold and locally windy. Common sense
FIXED it for ya. True dat. I remember last year when the UBC Biology building was in lockdown. My friends and I were joking that the guy probably got pissed off that there was no snow day and so took it out on us lucky saps inside.

nucksgirl*
Great and I have to head to SFU at 11:30. Are you busing or driving?? If you're driving, I hope you don't get stuck on the road for 3 hours like I did because they had to close another road.... but I guess better safe than sorry! Chris19
I am going to bus up there and I don't want to risk getting into accident if I drive. I can have a excuse for getting there late if my prof ask. Edited December 12, 2008 by Chris19
