He took a Risk on Christian Ehrhoff who was a -12, but paid off. Check. Offensive puck mover acquired. He wanted more grit. He added Raffi Torres Check. Grit and toughness acquired. He wanted a faceoffman Check. He added Malhotra He wanted a more versatile Defence. Dmans that can play on pp pk, and play on both ends of the rink. Check. Hamhius and Ballard both have played top minutes with previous teams. Mike Gillis needs to analyze what he needs to do this year, he might need to even blow it up a little, and go back to basics and rebuild the foundations. When he made those trades, he wanted to make the trades that can get his team to the Stanley cup finals as he quoted. He needs to approach it the same way. On top of that, sending out a memo to his players, telling them at any moment that the team might ask them to waive their NTC's for the best of the team, and also the players future. Would we not have another controversy one day if Eddie Lack proves he's a #1 guy? If Gillis can corral solid pieces that can reinforce/rebuild the bottom six he should do it! Could you imagine? Ott AND Lappy? And were already the most hated team in the league.... Yeah I dont think San Jose could pass on Torres if he continues to play like he is... Pyrene Posted May 9, 2013 Author Share Posted May 9, 2013 Honestly trying to make an offseason proposal after an emotional letdown of a year, I find that Gillis really solidified our team already and it was hard to make changes. the one thing we can still do is if Booth doesn't pan out, we still need a top 6 scorer.
