ken kaniff
Vancouver trades RW Jannik Hansen to Buffalo for C Steve Ott -We get a great 3rd line centerman who win faceoffs, hits and can PK exceptionally well. adds grit to our team. -Buffalo gets a great winger in Hansen, who can play 2nd line as well as 3rd line. both are in the final year of their contract. we need a 3rd line centerman more than a winger. Vancouver trades LW David Booth and 2014 4th round draft pick to NJD for D Mark Fayne. -We get a big gritty RHD as well as freeing up cap space -NJD gets a winger to add to their depth. with the loss of Clarkson, Parise and Kovi they arent looking good in depth. they have Jagr but he is getting old, slow and wont be as effective anymore as he once was. Hire Manny Malholtra as our PK/Faceoff coach in Utica. Signings D Chris Tanev 3 years @ 1.75mill cap hit D Andrew Alberts 1 year @ 800 000 RW Brad Boyes 1 year @ 2mill C Jordan Schroeder 2 years @ 1mill per Roster breakdown: 1st line: classic 1st line, Burrows works well with the Sedins and is our most effective line offensively 2nd line: giving either Jensen or Schroeder a shot as the 2nd line LW. Boyes can feed Kesler the puck from the wing. 3rd line: Ott and Kassian add grit. Kassian can round out his defensive game with 2 great shutdown players in Higgins and Ott. this line can also contribute offensively 4th line. Typiucal 4th line from last year. Ricahrdson takes less penalties that Lappy though. Sestito and Weise can grow into the system more 1st pairing: our most effective pairing a couple years ago. reuniting them would benefit the team bringing in a true shutdown pairing 2nd pairing: Tanev can be Edlers rock. Edler can focus on offense while Tanev is the stay at home d-man that can cover for him. with Tort's new system, Edler might improve defensively either way. 3rd pairing: Garrison gets a big RHD who can feed him the puck. either Fayne or Weber can be that player. Garrison's bombs from the point would happen more often. RHD to LHD ratio is even. FORWARDS Daniel Sedin ($6.100m) / Henrik Sedin ($6.100m) / Alexandre Burrows ($4.500m) Nicklas Jensen ($0.863m) / Ryan Kesler ($5.000m) / Brad Boyes ($2.000m) Chris Higgins ($2.500m) / Steve Ott ($2.950m) / Zack Kassian ($0.870m) Tom Sestito ($0.750m) / Brad Richardson ($1.150m) / Dale Weise ($0.750m) Mike Santorelli ($0.550m) / DEFENSEMEN Dan Hamhuis ($4.500m) / Kevin Bieksa ($4.600m) Alexander Edler ($5.000m) / Chris Tanev ($1.750m) Jason Garrison ($4.600m) / Mark Fayne ($1.300m) Andrew Alberts ($0.800m) / Yannick Weber ($0.650m) GOALTENDERS Roberto Luongo ($5.333m) Eddie Lack ($0.750m) ------ CAPGEEK.COM TOTALS (follow @capgeek on Twitter) (these totals are compiled with the bonus cushion) SALARY CAP: $64,300,000; CAP PAYROLL: $63,366,667; BONUSES: $0 CAP SPACE (23-man roster): $933,333 Prospects: -Gaunce becomes our #3 centerman after next season. -Kassian, Jensen or Schroeder takes Boyes's spot after he is a UFA -Corrado takes the 3rd pairing RHD spot for Fayne and Weber after contracts up Possible 2014-2015 lineup without sigings D.Sedin-H.Sedin-Kassian/Jensen Burrows-Kesler-Schroeder Higgins-Gaunce-Jensen/Kassian Sestito-Richardson-____ Hamhuis-Bieksa Edler-Tanev Garrison-Corrado Luongo-Lack

Aladeen
Stopped Reading after seeing trade Hansen. First off Hansen won't get you Ott, next Hansen brings a lot to the table at a very very reasonable price. Although people who watch the Canucks nightly see and appreciate Hansen for a skilled hockey player with incredible work ethic, outside of our fan base Hansen is the guy with the concussive elbow who tried to headhunt Hossa. Or some will say the mother of all forearm shivers.
ken kaniff
^^True homerism. Hansen is a great player, i love him him. but he is expendable. you dont want to give up anything good to get players. only Booth, and other scraps are available right? every player on the team is available. you all thought Schneider was never going to be traded either. well this is entirely possible. Hansen good for maybe 40-45pts. good on the PK, shutdown and forecheck. Ott good for 35-40pts. good on the PK, shutdown, forecheck and FO. yes i think this is more than even.
