Avatar: The Last Airbender

The series follows the adventures of protagonist twelve-year old Aang and his friends, who must bring peace and unity to the world by ending the Fire Lord's war against the other three nations. Avatar: The Last Airbender is set in an Asian influenced world wherein some are able to manipulate the classical elements by use of psychokinetic variants of Chinese martial arts known as "bending".

When the series debuted, it was rated the best animated television series in its demographic; new episodes averaged 3.1 million viewers each. In 2007, Avatar: The Last Airbender was syndicated to more than 105 countries worldwide, and was one of Nickelodeon's top rated programs. The series was ranked first on Nickelodeon in Germany, Indonesia, Malaysia, The Netherlands, Belgium, and Colombia. The four-part series finale, Sozin's Comet: The Final Battle, received the highest ratings of the series. Its premiere averaged 5.6 million viewers. It has the highest rating on IMDb of any show in this tournament, with a rating of 9/10 based on over 72000 votes.

Toriko

Toriko is a Gourmet Hunter searching for the most precious foods in the world so he can create his full-course meal. A man with inhuman ability, he utilizes his incredible strength and knowledge of the animal kingdom to capture ferocious, evasive, and rare beasts to further his menu. He is accompanied by the weak and timid chef Komatsu, who, inspired by Toriko's ambition, travels with him to improve his culinary skills and to find rare ingredients. Toriko and his friends often fight against the Gourmet Corps, who seek to take control of the world's entire food supply and are looking for the highly-sought after ingredient GOD, which the legendary Gourmet Hunter Acacia used to end the war that took place five-hundred years before the series began.

Carlo Santos of Anime News Network, praised the action, saying "For over-the-top action, it's hard to beat the thrill of Toriko punching out a swarm of giant insects, or the creep factor of a villain who literally wears another human's skin.", and called the art one of the series' highlights. Reviewing the anime, Santos said "Fans will know what to expect in each adventure: ravenous strongmen flexing their superpowers, ferocious foes being slaughtered by said strongmen, and a rich, imaginative world full of impossibly delicious foods. But the simplicity of Toriko is also its downfall: there are no clever twists in store, the characters don't develop at all, either personally or interpersonally, and even the most calculating villains are just mindless targets waiting to be knocked down one by one. The on-again, off-again animation also does a disservice to the bright colors and creative designs of the series."

It has a rating of 7/10 on IMDb based on 120 ratings.

The Legend of Korra

The Legend of Korra is a sequel to The Last Airbender, that focuses on Avatar Korra, a seventeen-year-old girl from the Southern Water Tribe. At the start of the series, she has already mastered waterbending, earthbending, and firebending, but must complete her training by learning airbending from Tenzin, the youngest child of Aang and Katara.

The premiere averaged 4.5 million viewers ranking it as basic cable’s number-one kids’ show and top animated program for the week with total viewers. The Legend of Korra also ranks as the network’s most-watched animated series premiere in three years.

Book One: Air drew an average of 4.3 million viewers per episode. This was the highest audience total for an animated series in the U.S. in 2012. Book Two: Spirits premiered with 2.6 million viewers. The reduced number of broadcast viewers was thought to have been influenced by the long period between seasons, a change in time slot (Friday evening instead of Saturday morning), the increased availability of digital download services, and generally reduced ratings for the Nickelodeon channel. It has an IMdb rating of 8.6/10 based on over 33500 votes.

666 Satan (O-Parts Hunter)

Set in the near future, it tells the story of a teenage girl named Ruby, who wants to find O-Parts: magical items hidden in ruins which grant people fantastical powers and can only be used by an O.P.T. (O-Part Tactician). She soon meets a mysterious young boy named Jio Freed who, due to having a dark, lonely past, seeks to conquer the world. Jio is hostile to her at first, but ends up traveling with Ruby as her bodyguard. When Ruby is attacked by an O.P.T., who claims to be Satan, Jio rushes to her rescue and a battle occurs. Initially they are on the losing side, but Jio releases his true power and is revealed to be not only an O.P.T., but the real Satan.

Jarred Pine of Mania.com called the series "derivative," claiming it borrows elements from several popular manga series such as Dragon Ball and One Piece, but stated that this does not make it any less enjoyable. He called the action scenes the story's highlight and praised its fast pace, giving volume one a B+ rating. A. E. Sparrow of IGN titled the header for his review of the series as "Naruto is in its blood." Referring to the fact that the creators of 666 Satan and Naruto are twin brothers. Sparrow said that one reads the series when "you feel you've outgrown Naruto and want to find something with a bit more to it." Jason Thompson declared Viz Media's changing of the series' title to "O-Parts Hunter" in North America one of "The Greatest Censorship Fails" in manga.

There is no clip because it has yet to have an anime adaptation.

Soul Eater

Set at the "Death Weapon Meister Academy", the series revolves around three teams, each consisting of a weapon meister and (at least one) human that can transform into a weapon. Trying to make the latter a "death scythe" and thus fit for use by the academy's headmaster Shinigami, the personification of death, they must collect the souls of 99 evil humans and one witch, in that order; otherwise, they will have to start all over again.

The series is acclaimed by critics for its action, though many feel the humour is often annoying and overly simplistic. The series holds an IMDb rating of 7.8/10 based on 3400 ratings.

Black Butler

The series follows Ciel Phantomhive, the twelve-year-old head of the Phantomhive noble family and the business-savvy owner of the Funtom company, a toy manufacturer. Ciel has formed a demonic contract with Sebastian Michaelis. In return, when Sebastian has helped Ciel finish all of his tasks, including avenging his parents' deaths, Sebastian will be allowed to consume Ciel's soul.

With the release of the manga's thirteenth volume, the series will have printed over ten million copies in Japan. Volumes alone have done well in weekly polls in Japan, taking several high spots. The fourth and fifth volumes ranked thirty-third and thirty-ninth of the top-selling manga in Japan during 2008, selling 529,210 copies and 468,550 copies respectively. The sixth volume ranked thirteenth of the top-selling manga in Japan during the first half of 2009, selling 619,501 copies. The series itself was ranked tenth of the top-selling manga series in Japan during 2009, selling a total of 1,603,197 estimated copies

It holds an IMDb rating of 7.7/10 based on 2200 votes.

Initial D

The story focuses on the world of illegal Japanese street racing, where all the action is concentrated in the mountain passes and rarely in cities or urban areas, and with the drift racing style emphasized in particular. Takumi Fujiwara, the main character of the series, develops his racing skills to be one of the fastest drivers in Kanto while driving an old Toyota Sprinter Trueno AE86. This is due to Takumi's job delivering tofu to Lake Akina every morning for 5 years (since 7th grade).

Some fans of Initial D reacted negatively to the Tokyopop dub towards their script and voice acting, and the removal of the original music from the anime series. Tokyopop said that it was trying to Americanize the series so it could be aired on television, while at the same time keeping the Japanese spirit of the series.

According to Funimation officials, the re-release of the anime has "done well". Reviews of the series note a marked improvement from the Tokyopop iteration. Despite this the series has been met with critical acclaim for its story and racing scenes. It holds a rating of 7.9/10 based on over 1500 votes.

This is one of my favourite animes of all-time.

YuYu Hakusho

The series tells the story of Yusuke Urameshi, a teenage delinquent who is struck and killed by a car while attempting to save a child's life. After a number of tests presented to him by Koenma, the son of the ruler of the afterlife Underworld, Yusuke is revived and appointed the title of "Underworld Detective", with which he must investigate various cases involving demons and apparitions in the human world. The series becomes more focused on martial arts battles and tournaments as it progresses.

The YuYu Hakusho television series was voted the best anime of the year in the 1994 and 1995 Animage Anime Grand Prix and the second best in 1993 after Sailor Moon. Additionally, the publication declared the series number 53 on its top 100 anime listing in 2001. In a 2006 web poll conducted in Japan by the network TV Asahi, YuYu Hakusho was voted as the 15th best anime of all time. The Japanese magazine Brutus voted it the sixth best anime of all time. The hit show garnered a large number of viewers during its run in Japan. Funimation president Gen Fukunaga remarked that YuYu Hakusho "came 'out of nowhere' to surprise people with huge ratings", which were just below those achieved by the popular series Dragon Ball Z. It holds an IMDb rating of 8.6/10 based on 3600 votes
