  1. Dog $hit so a 3 tops. It's not so much the OEL deal but I measure it up to how far back Jim set this franchise back. So it always has to go past one bad move, everyone has one of those over time. However Jim stumbled from one season to the next until he got canned. How many coaches did he fire? It's more than players. So a solid 3 out of 10. That might be generous.
  2. I'm sure I'm not the only one wondering who the hell is Michael Pezztta ? Before today I don't recall hearing of him. I don't watch the Canadians much. We'll see how this goes. Is he an every day player?
  3. I hope he gets a deal on wheel chairs for the over the hill players he's about to bring in.
  4. yup I think so too. This guy likes retreads. As a Canucks fan I love it.
  5. We'll see. I think his lingo would include a good kick in the ego.
  6. Based on what information? Me watching him and Willy D for a season, it was a failure. Also he was unwilling to go to the farm. In my eyes that's un coachable. Just my view.
  7. The sobering fact is Tryampkin isn't all that coachable.
  8. I think people can point out mistakes Dubas or any GM just being fired has made. They should be pretty easy to spot. What often gets missed is the moves simply not made. A GM killer is not being able to secure really good goaltending over a period of time. Not just a season. Dubas had a good run in Toronto but he failed to get a long standing goalie during his tenure. What key position is known and needed for success in the playoffs? Goaltending. Dubas had time but didn't invest the time in building a solid goaltending situation. Build or draft, neither did he do and i think it's one of the moves he didn't make that cost him.
  9. I wish Edmonton or Calgary would hire Benning although it looks like Conroy in in Calgary. Oh course Toronto and team other than the Canucks.
  10. This franchise had this coming for brining this guy back for another go. Check the last time. Ruined the franchise on and off the ice. So lets bring him back. regardless of what happened a decade ago in LA. I'm no Flames fan, far from it but it's a similar situation where the fan suffers because of white collar incompetency. As a Canucks fan i love it. This is a huge set back in Calgary. There's a lot of problems in Calgary that were there last season but the record they hard last season masked the smell of rot. I love it!
  11. Like i said we as Canucks fans can only hope they bring in Jim Benning after bard got the sack today.
  12. I see your point, and agree, how ever close is close as close as Vancouver came against Boston.(I bet Sutter couldn't use close three times in a sentence:) Both Calgary and Vancouver share the same stat during the same time period Sutter was employed by the Flames, then and recently. Zero Stanley Cups. Note: Sutter did win two Cups in LA, I'm not disputing his success in LA regardless of different circumstances. But as a Flames employee I think his over all body of work has more failures than success'. It's not all on Sutter though.
  13. Darryl Sutter's last tenure with the Flames, first coaching them the GM sunk the team for many years. so they go out and get him again.
  14. I wish this would happen wouldn't that be something. Upon thinking on your thought it disturbs me that Vancouver has actually been down this road. Damn Jim Benning was bad.
  15. Loathing Calgary almost as much as Edmonton I am over joyed at how Calgary flopped. I thought Calgary was going to be a flop last year because they were too old and Sutter was the coach. Once again I was wrong .Calgary had an awesome regular season. So with last seasons off seasons changes I thought they'd be good again. $hit, twice wrong, they were the $hits this season. That part I really like. An interesting stat from this season shows Vancouver and Calgary tied for wins at 38 each. Calgary had a whopping 17 OTL. All that attention on Vancouver over their horrible start covered up the disaster in the making in Calgary. I'd argue the picture in Vancouver is more encouraging right now, since management and coaching changes have been made over the past year and a half. Calgary has yet to experience the change. Calgary needs to be overhauled asap. I never minded Tanev and Marky heading to Calgary, I thought they were getting too old and that seems to be playing out. Canucks fans should hope that ownership in Calgary cleans house and hires Jim Benning, they seem to like hiring retreads as in Sutter. If Vancouver doesn't win the lottery it would be an emotional win if Calgary hired Jim Benning to run the show in Calgary. Wouldn't that be sweet?
  16. Well I'm sure this has been covered but i didn't read all of the posts. I'm sure Bo didn't mean to zero in on the fans but he did mention the fans in a manner that has been offensive to many fans especially after they supported him during his tenure here as a player and supported resigning him. He never mentioned Bruce the previous coach nor the previous nor present management group. Now one group that should be mentioned is the local Vancouver sports media, especially the group from 650am.
  17. Hockey hatred and loathing. For me holding first place for ever on my personal list, (might not be yours), Edmonton and a very short distance behind is Calgary. It's been a long season with not much to cheer but tonight's game holds a little more than a win. It could seriously derail Calgary's playoff hopes. Their season has been disaster playing well under expectation. I love it. Seeing this team miss the playoffs plus the added fallout is high value entertainment. When one looks at Vancouver's challenges one sees moves being made to improve the situation. When one looks at the strong possibility of Calgary missing the playoffs one sees the action packed fall out which arguably has already started. From management, coaching and personnel. Calgary has a lot of old guys. I want to see Vancouver win tonight simply for the hatred I hold for this team, for Alberta teams. Go Vancouver!
  18. I think the up coming game with Calgary would end the season on a positive note not with a simple win but with the elimination of the Flames from the playoffs. I watched the Calgary Winnipeg game last night. Neither team instilled any kind of confidence in a lengthy play off run. Especially if one has been watching other playoff teams. Seattle showed they are a solid playoff team in the other nights win over Vancouver. Calgary nor Winnipeg showed that kind of resolve or structure needed to make a deep playoff run. Calgary's year was last season not this season. They sport and old school thinking GM, a past due date coach and an older team with inconsistent goaltending. Markstrom played well last nigh but has been inconsistent. All eyes were on Vancouver's early struggles but it seems like the drama class has moved to Calgary and in some way Winnipeg. I find it easier to thi8nk I'll root Calgary or Edmonton on during these up coming playoffs. I'm a never Edmonton or Calgary person. Come on Vancouver show up with all you have for the Calgary game, use Chicago as a reset game tonight. End things on a good note. I do know this isn't Vancouver's last game but it might as well be.
