  1. How is that fence supposed to stop a bear?
  2. I really did not want jake just cause I had the idea that Dalcolle would fall to us so set in my head. as soon as the islanders made their pick I had a complete turn around. Did not think i would be this stoked to draft him.
  3. I could not agree more. The numbering system has always bugged me.
  4. Looking at today I saw 3 possibilities involving Kesler; I)Trade him for the big return he is worth. II)Panic and trade him for a less than desirable return. III)Don't trade him and see what is available in the offseason. I will not say that option 3 was a win but it definitely is not a loss.
  5. Its funny but I am really excited to see who our 5th round pick is going to be. We are on a hot streak for finding gem defensemen with that pick; Corrado, Hutton, and Cedarholm in the last three drafts. In fact, could you imagine how bad our defense prospect pool would be without our finds in the 5th.
  6. I think the sedins in their prime could make a 35 goal scorer out of a player like alex burrows but the sedins in decline need a true stud on their line to be effective. Get them a new line mate and you will get them out of their funk.
  7. With him being an rfa at years end, what do you guys think his next contract will look like?
  8. And how many of those guys was headed for UFA status during Gillis tenure and was resigned by him?
  9. He is a hometown boy, can play center or wing, great in shootouts, can move up and down the line-up, has shown chemistry with everyone he has played with, kills penalties, blocks shots, scores goals, great forecheck,...... What are the arguments against re-signing him?
  10. I hope this has the same effect as when Samuelsson was snubbed from the 2010 Olympic roster. He took it so personally and absolutely went off after.
  11. If i remember correctly, he started off last year with a brutal +/- but really turned it on as the season progressed.
  12. I disagree, I think Gaunce is the type of player that can start on the 4th line and work his way up, slowly given more responsibility such as time on the pk. In other words the exact same path (once he was in the NHL) as burrows took. Even looking at Keslers stats from the 05-06 season, he was only averaging about 12 minutes a game for the first half of the season.
  13. I feel like people always forget that Daniel is the second best passer on the team
  14. I was wondering if someone could breakdown why it is that Horvat is rated such a better Prospect than Gaunce? From what I have read they both seem to be projected great 3rd line centers with a possible ceiling of good 2nd liner centers
  15. anyone like to guess what kind of deal will be offered to JS since he is an RFA this summer?
  16. He is second on the team for shots with 53 shots in 23 games. I don't know if that has to do with Maine having terrible forwards or Hutton being an great offensively but what also stands out is that he has the highest +/- for defensemen on the team (at -1) with only one forward having a better +/- (+1). I find that very impressive, especially because he is a freshman, and would love to see what he can do if he played on a better team. Great 5th round pick MG!
  17. I think the beauty of this pick was that Gaunce was such a sure bet to make it in the NHL which is not something that can be said for quite a few late 1st round picks. My question however is about his ceiling. Do you guys envision Gaunce as a 2nd or 3rd line center in the NHL? To me he seems to be the very defensibly responsible, smart player that coaches love for the third line role. On the other hand however, the exact same thing was said of Kesler when he got drafted and then Sundin came along and taught him how to be an offensive beast. So what do you guys think?
  18. I sort of wish Kassian had been sent down to the wolves for a while in order to get top 6 minutes and work on his offensive game. he could then be called upon in the playoffs full of confidence and eager to prove himself. Maybe that seems stupid but ifeel he has the potential to be an offensive force if he gets developed with that in mind. I love him on the fourth but worry it may be detrimental to his future. I have faith in the canucks organization and realize their knowledge of how to develop players far exceed mine but I wonder about what they see Zack as in the future. Maybe we will give some of our stars a night or two off before the playoffs and we will see zack once again getting some time in the top 6 before the playoffs start. I just really hope that if we were to play chicago again in the post season he could get some time with the sedins as I would love for him to get some quality time getting to know bolland. there are a couple of pictures of Kassian that people have been posting in which he looks so freaking feral that its easy to imagine him feasting on a rat.
  19. thanks for the explanation. so it isnt unreasonable to expect schroeder to be playing wing for the canucks as a call up next year.
  20. can anyone who has played hockey at a fairly competitive level breakdown how difficult it is for a player to change from a center to a wing. i think i get why it would be hard to go from wing to center but that i would love for someone with actual experience in the matter to explain it. especially in the case Schroeder cause i honestly wouldnt want him playing center for the canucks anytime soon since that would mean either kes, hank, or cody is not.
  21. Does anyone see burrows beating his 35 goal season? he is on pace for 33 right now but like all canucks started off slow
  22. I would literally puke if i ever saw Burrows in anything other than a Canuck sweater. When Burrow's contract is up we better resign him and as absolutely absurd as it is to say, i do not want GMMG to allow him to take another discount like he did last time. Burrows and Linden may be polar opposites in personality but in my mind, #14 has inherited the role of heart of the team. I know there will be many of you who would disagree (although most i would hope still like Burrows) because of his pest antics, but every time the canucks win a big game, its burrows who stand at the entrance of bench and high fives everyone as they get off the ice. anytime a player scores a milestone goal, whether it be a regulars 100th or some rookie call ups first, its Burrows who goes and retrieves the puck. He quite literally does everything he can possible do for the team and might just be the most unselfish player we have. Again, I would be sick to my stomach if i ever saw Burrows in another NHL clubs jersey.
