  1. Worthless in a trade. If they are overpaid they are worthless in a trade. If they are underpaid you have to give up an asset to assume their contract. You understand yet?
  2. Yeah sorry, a team could get Petriangelo. Hypothetical.
  3. Oilers will have trouble assembling a team that can win the cup when they spend so much on one player. Not too tough to comprehend. But off topic so no more of that.
  4. Right, we cant sign Peterangelo, and neither can we sign OEL unless someone takes our anchors in return. Coyotes give us something to take OEL's contract off their hands. I agree with that. I already said if they take Eriksson maybe we take OEL.
  5. OEL has zero trade value because of his contract. It's a cap conscious league. As was pointed out, why give up anything for OEL when we can get Peterangelo for nothing. If OEL was playing for 5 million he'd have plenty of value in a trade. For me Mcdavid is worth nothing in a trade. Overpaid. That's life when trying to live under a cap.
  6. Why give up anything for OEL. With that contract his value is zero in a trade. We have Ericksson with less than zero value in a trade but only 2 years left on his contract. Eriicksson and OJ for OEL. That's my offer. Think about being stuck with that crazy contract for 6 years. Big risk.
  7. Interesting. In order of guys I'd like to lose for nothing, I will go EP, QH, Horvat, Miller, Myers, JV. I agree Edler, Markstrom and Tanev are better players but prefer JV because of age or contract. So I have him as our 8th best player. Ahead of Boeser at this time.
  8. He is that player now imo. Just finished a 20 goal season and looked great. One of our top players no question.
  9. That's fine. We're better off keeping him. Hopefully TG will learn to use him better.
  10. Wow. I didn't know Quinn said that. I remember my hair was on fire because of the extra day off. With that in mind, my opinion is Quinn was too concerned with the fatigue on his team without enough consideration to the train wreck that was occurring on the other side.
  11. How many number 8 picks make a dent in the NHL? I'd be a bad lawyer because I don't know the answer. But I'm guessing less than half. lol here they are 2013 Rasmus Ristolainen D TPS (FIN) Buffalo Sabres 2012 Derrick Pouliot D Portland (WHL) Pittsburgh Penguins 2011 Sean Couturier C Drummondville (QMJHL) Philadelphia Flyers 2010 Alex Burmistrov C Barrie (OHL) Atlanta Thrashers 2009 Scott Glennie C Brandon (WHL) Dallas Stars 2008 Mikkel Boedker LW Kitchener (OHL) Phoenix Coyotes 2007 Zach Hamill C Everett (WHL) Boston Bruins 2006 Peter Mueller C Everett (WHL) Phoenix Coyotes 2005 Devin Setoguchi RW Saskatoon Blades (WHL) San Jose Sharks 2004 Alexandre Picard LW Lewiston MAINEiacs (QMJHL) Columbus Blue Jackets 2003 Braydon Coburn D Portland Winter Hawks (WHL) Atlanta Thrashers 2002 Pierre-Marc Bouchard C Chicoutimi Sagueneens (QMJHL) Minnesota Wild 2001 Pascal Leclaire G Halifax Mooseheads (QMJHL) Columbus Blue Jackets 2000 Nikita Alexeev LW/RW Erie Otters (OHL) Tampa Bay Lightning 1999 Taylor Pyatt LW Sudbury Wolves (OHL) New York Islanders 1998 Mark Bell C Ottawa 67's (OHL) Chicago Blackhawks 1997 Sergei Samsonov LW Detroit Vipers (IHL) Boston Bruins 1996 Johnathan Aitken D Medicine Hat Tigers (WHL) Boston Bruins 1995 Terry Ryan LW Tri-City Americans (WHL) Montreal Canadiens 1994 Jason Wiemer C Portland Winter Hawks (WHL) Tampa Bay Lightning 1993 Niklas Sundstrom RW Modo Ornskoldsvik (SEL) New York Rangers 1992 Brandon Convery C Sudbury Wolves (OHL) Toronto Maple Leafs 1991 Richard Matvichuk D Saskatoon Blades (WHL) Minnesota North Stars 1990 Derian Hatcher D North Bay Centennials (OHL) Minnesota North Stars 1989 Jason Herter D U. of North Dakota (NCAA) Vancouver Canucks 1988 Jeremy Roenick C Thayer Academy (Mass.) 12. I didn't notice. I did notice the desperation move of putting him in the top 6 when we were in danger of elimination to St louis and how we immediately started the come back. Then he was dropped down again once victory was secured. But that's what I mean. He isn't in shape coming to camp so they punish him, the team and the fans. Old school. I'd punish him in ways not involving ice time.
  13. What I see in Jake is a guy who, when given the stage on the top 6 or even top 3, is capable of meeting the challenge and then some. Stick him on the 3rd or 4th line and you're gonna get a plugger.
  14. We picked him fairly high in the first. He's finally playing like a legit first rounder (when played). I would consider a top 8 pick.
