He's so smart defensively, plays with incredible poise, has elite skating and vision, and a good attitude. This fan base has forgotten about the excitement of a top defensive prospect - looking forward to Olli showing everyone what he's capable of.

When I watch Olli play, I'm in awe of how cerebral he is. Decision making is exceptional, his first pass is incredible, and his skating is elite. when I was growing up, watching Lidstrom play in Detroit was a treat. Never again will there be a player like the Perfect Human, but Olli shows me shades of things that I used to love about Nick. Welcome to Vancouver, I hope you have a long successful career with the Canucks.

I feel like he can practice his shooting accuracy over the summer, like Kesler did with his shot. Being in the NHL everyday practicing with Henrik, Daniel, Bo, Dorsett, Hansen, on a daily basis, will be great for his development. Plus, watching him play, I think he'd be a welcome addition to the team...

To be fair, I feel a lot of players in the NHL don't have skating as strong as Jake's. He's naturally a very powerful, fast, and balanced skater. It's one of the things that makes him such an exciting prospect. Oh, and he's a wrecking ball too, that can just deliver monster (clean) hits. Gotta say, I'm stoked about this kid.

Acquiring this kid at the draft would be the exact kind of splash I'd like to see Benning make, and the more I read about him, the more I like. I really respect Dave Tippet as a coach, and listening to his evaluation of Sam was refreshing. "He didn't look out of place," Team Canada coach Dave Tippett said in a phone interview Friday afternoon. "He carried himself like a pro player. He picked up the things we were trying to do in the drills very well. The biggest thing you could tell, and it's probably a little bit because of his upbringing -- he wasn't intimidated by the situation at all and just jumped in there and played."

If Nylander is available at 6, I agree with this. He has high-end vision, speed, and skating, and his stick-handling is ELITE. He's a smaller player, sure, but he's tenacious and hungry on the puck. I think if he has the right attitude, and a willingness to be mentored by the Sedins, Nylander would be a fantastic addition to the canucks, with 1st line potential. It's not like there will be a shortage of size in the future top-9 Horvat/Kassian/Jensen/Gaunce/Kesler are all big bodies for the west, so having fast skilled guys like Nylander and Shinkaruk would give exciting high-end skill to a team so desperately in need of that in the pipeline.

If thornton gets any less than 10-15 games, it will be an absolute mockery, and send a message to players that premeditated assault on unsuspecting players will miss you a month's pay.

There are so many things that impress me about this kid, that it's a challenging exercise knowing where to begin. I would start by saying, he characterizes a quiet leadership and has a very serious focus. He takes pride in a 200 foot game, elevates his play when it matters, takes draws, makes his linemates better, and he gives us a great young Canadian center in the pipeline that will play for us for a long time. Also, while he doesn't have the skill or the accolades to compare him to franchise player Jonathan Toews, his demeanor and mannerisms certainly do have a stark resemblance in many ways. I for one, am excited to see this kid turn into a force for the Canucks!

I do and don't agree here... I think booth on the 4th line is capable of 10 goals with a much more simple assignment. We need that kind of depth, and a 4th line role with his big body, and ability to drive the net, will be an asset. Is he too expensive for the 4th line? Absolutely! But the coach's job is to ice the best lineup possible which gives the team a chance to win. Being able to ice 3 NHL-ready lines, and 1 Elite line that can go against any in the league and dominate, is a luxury most coaches would love to have. I do agree that I'd rather give the spot to a young guy and trade booth, but this roster is based on what we have without trades

This player scores clutch goals, plays a 200 foot game, and has great leadership qualities about him. I love this pick, and if he develops into a Bergeron/Kesler type player, with utility in all situations, that will be fantastic for us. I like many others feel we could have got more, potentially from the flyers even (Couturier + 11th), but at the end of the day, he pulled the trigger now and avoided an even more unfortunate goaltending situation.

[Game of Thrones - S3E9 Spoiler alert] An episodic triumph that commands a truly emotional reaction from the watcher. Beyond our personal attachments to the protagonist Stark family, we once again see that Westeros rewards the honorable and righteous with gifts of untimely passing. Treachery, Machiavellian pursuits of power, and complete and utter moral abandon seem to be a recipe for success in this realm. While we have continued to see those who rule with cunning fear, and money, continually rewarded in the show, in "stark" contrast, we see the Mother of Dragons amassing power in a more honorable way - through liberation. It will be great to see her story unfold in (hopefully) an epic homecoming to King's Landing, but as this season of the series has shown us, there are no promises which cannot be broken (see House Frey). Her vulnerability can't be understated, as when Daario could have killed her in her bath chamber, we see that she too is not immune to risk. While virtually every element of the show can be praised, I think the one amazing truth to why the show is brilliant, is in its inherent unpredictability. No character is safe, no line cannot be crossed, and as a reader/viewer, that is something fairly unique to television today. I'm also a big fan of Breaking Bad, but it would be impossible to imagine a scenario short of the finale, where Walter White meets an untimely demise. Few programs are as daring, while being so mesmerizing, that we can't help but be captivated by the magic. While the emotional highs and lows of the show take us on a veritable roller-coaster ride, I for one can't wait to see if we get off safely, or the bloody thing crashes in an absolute catastrophic tragedy.
