:D
Might be going to the Giants game tonight, Teddy Bear Toss night. Spokane may be third in the US, but they've got a better record than the Giants so it should be a good game.

Fakename70
Good to see a WHL thread. My first hockey game ever was actually a WHL game in the early-to-mid '80's at Seattle when they were still named the Breakers. I was cruising the WHL website the other day and noticed they're also having an outdoor matchup this season: The Spokane Chiefs have announced that The Rypien Foundation has been named the official charity of the Rockstar Outdoor Hockey Classic. The Chiefs will be hosting the Kootenay Ice on Saturday, January 15th at Avista Stadium in the WHL's first ever outdoor game. "We've always had a great admiration for the Chiefs and the entire Brett Sports organization, their role in our community and assisting charities," Mark Rypien, Super Bowl XXVI MVP with the Washington Redskins and Shadle Park High School graduate, said. As a part of the event The Rypien Foundation will hold a silent auction at Avista Stadium and participate in fan entertainment surrounding the game. They will also figure prominently in a give away item that will be announced at a later date. The silent auction will include Wayne Gretzky (Edmonton) and Mario Lemieux signed jerseys, amongst other items. "It is an honor for the Rypien Foundation to be apart of history with the first outdoor hockey game in the Western Hockey League. This is a win win event; a huge win for our community, a big win for the sports fan and a great opportunity to provide HOPE for families battling childhood cancer in the Inland Northwest," Rypien said. Tickets are still available for the Rockstar Outdoor Hockey Classic by calling the Chiefs office at (509) 535-PUCK, TicketsWest at (800) 325-SEAT or by logging onto www.ticketswest.com. ABOUT THE RYPIEN FOUNDATION MISSION The Mission of the Rypien Foundation is to provide funding for local programs on the front line fighting childhood cancer. If the foundation is able to offer hope to the families, the treatments will have a greater degree of success. VISION "The Rypien Foundation is a premier provider of HOPE to families with children who suffer from cancer in the Inland Northwest." OUR STORY The Rypien Foundation was built with the heartfelt devotion of its founder, Super Bowl XXVI "MVP" Mark Rypien, who lost his three year old son, Andrew, to cancer. Mark and his family experienced firsthand what families go through when fighting this potentially deadly disease, and recognized the value that quality care can bring to both patient and family. In the wake of his difficult personal experience, the Rypien Foundation was created with a commitment to provide HOPE for local families battling childhood cancer. Each year the Rypien Foundation continues to raise and provide funding to support local programs and projects designed to help foster a healing environment second to none for child cancer patients in the Inland Northwest. Through programs like music therapy and patient advocacy; projects like building a fun and interactive open air terrace and movie theater at Sacred Heart Children's Hospital, the Rypien Foundation is helping kids to 'just be kids', bringing comfort to worrying parents, and giving hope to families where it was in short supply. It's our time
Big 6-1 win for the Blazers over the Giants, one night after we beat them 4-1. Was a great game from the Blazers and a defeated, undisciplined game from the Giants. Brendan Gallagher was throwing cheapshots all night after the whistles and then hiding behind the linesmen when our D-men went at him. He spent the rest of the night whining and complaining about everything and got himself a nice 10 min misconduct for it. That was the biggest thing I noticed tonight was how much of a whiner he was. Jordan Depape had a 2 goal night and got the first star nod in his first game back after his suspension, Randford had another 3 point effort as did Corey Fienhage. All-in-all a great win for the Blazers

vancanfan
The New Year's Eve match-up between the Spokane Chiefs and Tri-City Americans has been post-poned after one period of play due to poor ice conditions at the Toyota Centre in Kennewick. The Western Hockey League will announce the re-scheduled game early next week. GO BLADES!!
