Proposed 2012-2013 Rosters

Recommended Posts

I think we need a spot where folks can put their whole roster for discussion purposes. Imagining single trades doesn't give you a great picture of what we would end up with in the end.

Of course most of the moves will never happen, but this is what armchair GMing is all about... promoting discussion and talking about roster moves. I know that I am asking in vain... but if folks don't agree with a roster suggestion, add some actual content rather than just trolling with one-line comments.

Here is one idea, I think we need some changes but not blowing up the whole roster:

Trade away the farm for Weber, and get him in a sign and trade deal (you don't trade core guys for him if he is not signed already). I suspect the chance of Weber actually wanting to move become more remote the more success Nashville has in this playoffs. The only roster players I would say are untouchable are the Sedins and the only prospect is Jensen.

Lets say we have to overpay and send Booth, Edler, Schroeder and a pick for Weber

Then we move Luongo and Ballard to Tampa for Malone and a pick

Sign low risk veteran guys to fill some gaps and see who works out. For example Huselius is coming off a bad injury so can be had for cheaper than his current contract... if he is recovered then you would be hard pressed to find a better complement on the 2nd line. If he doesn't work out, you waive him and find another mid-season or try a prospect like Jensen to see if he is ready.

The addition of Parise bring , skill and playmaking ability to the second line and solidifies both powerplay units. The additions of Gaustad and Kassian joining him on the Third inserts toughness and size into our top nine and have both shut down capabilities and a scoring touch. The 4th line will also maintain its size and ability to play the game and not be a liability on the ice and supplying the much needed toughness when called upon. On Defence the addition of Suter which is obviously an upgrade any way you look at it and Alzner is a good young Defenceman capable of a shut down role and plays the right side. These changes give the team a new identity

Who do you want to trade for Suter's UFA RIGHTS?? Kesler and Edler? Maybe we should trade those two and when Suter doesn't sign, you will be giddy about how we won the trade and had the pleasure of talking to Suter for a couple of days. Get real man, its for rights not a straight up trade for a signed Suter.
