ilovekevinbieksa
Because it was pretty clear that he (and everyone else) didn't show up in the playoffs, he isn't up to par when he's under pressure, and he takes too much crap from a lot of fans. Pears
Didn't one report say MG turned down Schneider to Tampa for Brad Richards?
Raiun
Schneider hasn't even played a full season as a number one...

Tortorella's Rant
That would have been Dave Nonis. He actually offered Bourdon and Schneider to Tampa, though the latter sought Ryan Kesler and Alex Edler. Nonis ultimately walked away from negotiations. It says a lot when Jay Feaster declines an offer consisting of Luc Bourdon, Cory Schneider, the 2008 first-round pick (Cody Hodgson), a second round pick, and a third round pick. It also seems odd that Nonis offered that much. That seems absurd, now that we can reflect on it. http://www.tsn.ca/co...eger/?id=234470
canucklesmith
How is this mismanagement? You wanted the Canucks to trade Schneider 3 years ago when he had no value?

Canucksh
Debatable, but why did Gillis even let it get to that point after committing to Luongo?

CanuckCup1316
Because he was the best back up option for Luongo. And with Luongo having some playoff blips would you rather throw in Shcneids or Lack? But now Cory is looking like he could be as good as Quick.
CanucksFanMike
Because Schneids at the time was an elite AHL goalie (and NHL prospect) so he waited to see if he developed... i think it is fair to say MG made the right call on that

King of the ES
Lemme take you back a few years. http://m.thehockeyne...ith-Luongo.html Luongo signs with the Canucks for 12 years. I think we all thought he was here for life and Schneider was the one on his way out. So why did that never happen? Why was it that Mike Gillis kept Schneider around for as long as he has AFTER committing to Luongo? Why was Schneider never traded to improve our team after he re-signed Luongo to prevent a goalie controversy? I thought Lack was the future? At least, that is what everybody told me, so there was no room for Schneider. Is Luongo being shopped moreso because he wants out or because Gillis now thinks Schneider is his goalie? *cough* mismanagement

King of the ES
It was far too early to trade Schneider back then. He had no real trade value until recently.
Vaeneir
So if you were GM, you would trade the goalie that is developing at an exceptional rate - beyond predicted, before the realization of his true value and keep the goalie he outperforms just to avoid controversy? Or, Create a redundant thread?

King of the ES
As mentioned: value Why get a decent return when you can get a great return years later? It's not as if we needed to move him at the time anyway
CityinFlames
Corey is a all rounded better player then Loungo, Loungo didn't perform well after he signed that deal and Corey emerged as the top goal-tender simple as pie.
