T-BIRDS FALL TO WINTERHAWKS FOR THE SECOND STRAIGHT YEAR

The WHL best team, the Seattle Thunderbirds, who won the Memorial Cup two seasons ago, fall to the Portland Winterhawks in the third round of the WHL Playoffs for the second straight year. Seattle, almost perfect against virtually every other team, just can't seem to get past the Winterhawks in this I-5 rivalry. Clearly Portland has solved the puzzle to the dynasty the T-Birds have built having sent them home for the second striaght year.

TIGERS SENT HOME, NO MEMORIAL CUP REPEAT

Coming into this season having just won the Memorial Cup, Medicine Hat posted the 2nd best record in the WHL. However, the playoffs were not as easy as the regular season was, as it took 7 games to dispose of the 8th seeded Swift Current Broncos; six games were needed to defeat the 7th seeded Prince Albert Raiders and clearly, another 7 game series against the Saskatoon Blades just took all the energy left in the tank out and Medicine Hat fell, 3-2 in overtime of the deciding game 7.
