I'm assuming his trade value is really low at this point and I bet Florida would love to dump him just so they don't have to pay him anymore.

Would you guys want Kovalev cheap, probably pretty close to bag of pucks cheap.

He's one of the most skilled players to ever play the game, but he's old and pretty lazy from what I've seen. I wonder if he would be motivated on the Canucks. I think it's pretty unrealistic that Gillis would trade for him but he's better than some of the plugs like Ebbett and he would be good on the 2nd unit PP.

Something like Kovalev for a 5th or a low end prospect.

No. Too slow now, and yes, looks kind of lazy half the time.

He'll be on waivers within a couple days so we could add him for nothing.

Isn't Kovalev a HUGE defensive liability and coaster?

3 points in his last 12 games.

1 goal in 7 playoff games last year.

At one point I would have been stoked on this, but he's done at this point IMO.

That failed to answer my question.

A player who has basically won every championship in hockey (except a World Championship) in his career, the regular season means nothing to him.
Similarly, the regular season means nothing for this current Canucks squad. It's the post-season that matters.

Some people on this board may be too young to remember that Kovalev is a 94' Ranger.

Remember what happened the last time we added a 94' Ranger?

If all it takes is a late round pick and Florida keeps most of his cap hit I wouldn't mind bringing him in. He could be valuable come playoff time.

In my eyes drouin is overrated he can score in the qmjhl but did nothing in last two gold medal games that canada lost. Fox will be better pro than him talk to me in five yrs

Gaudreau has one NHL goal whereas all your "prized" prospects have none.

ryan kesler is going to the chicago blackhawks ...       quote me on it

You clearly have not seen him in his prime. NO heart ?! To Russian ? No racism here .....A Russian sniper might be exactly what this team needs ...not saying the aging Kovalev but a sniper is priority since we havent had one since Bure.
