Kack Zassian
Matt Stajan (CGY*) -– If Calgary would eat some salary he would be a nice fit (don't see Calgary doing us favors) Derek Roy (DAL*) -– Would love to get him, but I see him riding shotgun to Kesler, not being 3C Eric Belanger (EDM*) -– Realistic target. Insignificant enough Edmonton might move him to us. Would likely center line 4 (and be used in a very low o-zone deployment role) Marcel Goc (FLA*) -– My #1 choice. Really hope we could get him for a 2nd. Criminally underrated. Shawn Matthias (FLA*) -– Im not sold on Matthias. Not bad... but not very good at anything. Paul Gaustad (NSH*) –- Nashville moved a 1st for him. Would assume he would cost a 1st + Brian Boyle (NYR) -– Would be a solid option. Is a guy who can soak up d-zone starts. Max Talbot (PHI*) –- I like Talbot, still think he would require an overpayment. Boyd Gordon (PHX*) -– Could be brought in... but don't see him as a big enough upgrade on Lapierre. Michael Handzus (SJ*) -– See above. Vladimir Sobotka (STL) -– Feel like STL wouldn't make him available (as a contender). Sobotka plays a very "Jannik Hansen" game. They love him in STL Nate Thompson (TB*) –- Just re-upped in Tampa. Don't think hes moving Jay McClement (TOR) -– Just signed in TO, has looked awesome (him and Grabo have been eating up heavy minutes all season) Jay Beagle (WSH*) - See him as too lateral of a move from Lapierre. Darkstar
Goc, Matthias and Gordon are probably the Canucks' best bets at the deadline.
