I agree, but I also thinkg we need a center who can take Henrik's spot in 3-4 years. It's abundantly clear the team needs a replacement 1C for the future. I love Kesler but I don't think he can be a 1C unless the Canucks first two lines will be like what LA has.

If by some miracle we get Mackinnon he would be the absolute perfect replacement for Henrik in 2-3 years. But staying in the realm of reality I think we could trade up and take Bo Horvat

In my eyes drouin is overrated he can score in the qmjhl but did nothing in last two gold medal games that canada lost. Fox will be better pro than him talk to me in five yrs

Gaudreau has one NHL goal whereas all your "prized" prospects have none.

I agree.

The way I see it there are really only two options for this teams future. Draft a guy who can be a 1C to take over for the Henrik in 2-3 years, or get a puck moving defensemen and try to get some more mileage out of the Sedins as first liners by getting a transition game back.

Quick question: If we get swept (or push the series to 5, 6, or even 7 and lose) and with us winning our division, would we get a pick between 15th-20th overall or would it be between 21st-26th overall?

On another thread I found a way for us to Get Mckinnon, and given our challenges lol..more likely now as we'll see changes.

1. Trade Lou, Edler and our first to Philly for their first and Coutourier. So Lou/Edler/our 1st for Coutourier and their first which I believe is number 11

2. Then trade number 11 and Jensen to Florida for number 2. Florida doesn't need McDavid, they have enough depth down the middle. We give up alot but get a potential superstar.

I think it's manageable but moving parts...

drouin-Huberdeau or Huberdeau-Mackinnon is too good to pass up for a struggling franchise

True, but you have to look at Florida's current needs. Theodore is coming off a pretty big (groin?) injury, and both Markstrom and Clemmensen were terrible this year. With Luongo's performances this series his trade value has skyrocketed and would easily solve the Panthers' goaltending situation and be an excellent mentor for Markstrom.

Huberdeau - Weiss** - Versteeg
Fleischmann - Shore - Mueller
Bjugstad - Matthias - Howden
Upshall - Goc - Kopecky

Campbell - Gudbranson
Kulikov - Jovanovski
Kuba - Petrovic

Luongo
Markstrom

Solid line up when healthy, not to mention Huberdeau will be better. I think with whatever pieces are coming to Florida with Luongo I think Talon would part with the 2nd overall pick. And honestly, I think this would be a very decent hockey trade. Florida needs an elite goalie like Luongo, and we need a game breaking prospect like Mackinnon who has been compared to Crosby multiple times.

I'd say they'll take Nate Mackinnon, he's too good to pass up and can center Huberdeau.

Hate to be that guy but he had a replacement topline centre for Henrik already drafted a few years ago, sadly he's now the top line centre in Buffalo.

The remaining order is determined by the Stanley Cup playoff results.[8] Whichever team wins the Stanley Cup is awarded the 30th and last pick, while the runner-up is given the 29th pick. The teams eliminated in the conference finals are awarded the 28th and 27th picks, with the 28th pick going to the team with the better regular season record. Remaining division winners are then sorted by points, then the rest of the field are ranked next, filling in the 26th through 15th picks. In both cases, better records result in later picks.

I searched TSN but couldn't find, is there a list of rankings for draftees? Canucks are drafting at the very least 19th over all according to Prison Bull - I'd like to see who 'might' be available then.

Given Gillis's history, he's always taken a forward in the 1st round. I'm assuming he'll do the same this summer.

@HayesTSN: The reason I keep bringing up the 03 draft is that there's a belief this years draft could be close. Won't be as good, but close would work.

Domi-Harvat is an amazing combination. Their performance at the memorial cup was outstanding, Domi's sick pass and Harvat's finish is exactly what we need. Looking at our future with them, (Hank,Dank at the end of their career).

1-3 years gone by:

Burrows-Kesler-Jensen
Horvat-Domi-Kassian
Sedin-Sedin-Gaunce
Higgins-Lain-Hansen

Hamhuis-Corrado
Andersson-Tanev
Garrison-Bieksa

Lack/Schneider
Lack/Schneider.

Trading Edler for one of the top 10 picks (draft Horvat).

Ballard,1st round pick (VAN) 2013,3rd round pick 2013 for 1st round pick (CBJ) 2013.

Could add some more things, but I could see us running for the cup again.

I'm favouring Barkov>Drouin in the the top 3. He is a big center with speed, Drouin isn`t that big.
