Shirokov was made to wear 25 until he proved that he could make the team and then be allowed to wear 52. I was surprised when they gave Horvat the number he wore in the OHL for training camp, figured that they'd give him some alteration on it like #43 or #73. If they feel that he's earned it they must have high expectations. But if Horvat does change his number, he wore #44 in Minor Midget so that's a possibility (and I know, Bertuzzi, but they let Andrew Gordon wear it so you never know).
