Never wanted a thread prediction wrong, so badly. Jonesin' for some Canucks PO hockey, to the 20th degree.

Hard to imagine them pulling this off, with media reports of COVID exploding in States.

In Japan Aug/Sept is a heat/humidity nightmare. Be sooo sweet to enjoy PO's & beer, with the AC on 24/7.

Deserving a highlighted question? Think it's fair, yes. A thread on HF asks how can we count on any form of 2020-21 reg season? There's 4 or 5 pages of reasonable discussion.

Yeah, it's conceivable you can play out 10% of a season & PO's in some form of bubble-mode tourney. But how in the world(with the spike of US cases) can this league go forward with next season? We project deals, contracts & rosters, but it's hard for me to see the forest, beyond our Tree!

Prob worth a thread in itself, but interested if any folks have any ideas/optimism on that?

Howza'bout 24 US franchises stuck 1 yr in a Canadian barn? I'd like to see the Bruins punted up to Gander NFLD..or maybe Churchill, Manitoba!

Victoria, Kelowna, PG, Williams Lake, Red Deer..(keep going East). Can we come up with 24 decent barns to save their butts?!

How often do 18 yo's have an immediate impact in the bigs? Perhaps 2 or 3 cases every decade?

The draft is fun, & it's understandable almost every puck fan eagerly awaits the moment.. but this is a great time to shift to a 19 yr old event.

Back in the 70’s you could to get a seasoned vet at 20. Potvin is a prime example - stepped right in and changed that team his rookie year completely.   However it’s never going to happen as a judge changed all of that because of linesman taking them to court and winning the right as a draft eligible (get sent to war) voting adult he and everyone else for that matter was deemed allowed to pursue their career rights the same as everyone else.   Taking away one year of earnings is no small thing either.   It affected everything (going from 20-18).  Potvin lost two years of NHL money - he easily could have played at 18....same with Dionne, Lafleur, and a whole lot of others.  Most times a player is sent down for a year or two of development at least, but there are also a couple players each year that come in at 18 and kill it.   WG started at 17 (of course he’s an extreme example) in the WHA and could have in the NHL too...at 18 he tied Dionne for the Ross (in less games).   Crosby ... Ekblad (won the Calder too)...yeah there aren’t too many examples more are like Patrick, Hughes, Kakko, Stamkos and Thornton then like Crosby, Hawerchuk and Barrasso...but there are definitely enough of them that can come straight in and at least manage a bottom six role.
