  1. There is nothing wrong with this pick, I like it... But man, passing on Tkachuk just seems strange. Its even tougher seeing Calgary get him. He could be a force with Monahan and Johnny. lets hope Ollie shuts them down!
  2. Politics will come into play and Grandlund will be given a spot. If it was down to him and Zalekski, Canucks would keep Grandlund. They have invested a former 1st round pick for him.
  3. The NHL is changing to a younger mans game. Unfortunately for Burrows he is past his prime. Keeping a nostalgic player for what he accomplished years ago makes little sense. That is an emotional decision which will cripple the team. It makes even less sense to have a 36 year old player making 4.5 million on the bottom six, especially if his salary doesn't match his output. Sure he might be good in the room, but you can pay less money for a more effective player that can be good in the room.
  4. No he isn't needed at all. His game has fallen off and he needs a fresh start somewhere else. His contract and production levels would scare most teams. Canucks would have to eat salary if they were to trade him. We are most likely stuck with him until his contract is over. Its all good to talk about what players used to be and what they accomplished. It's amazing and he had some great years. This team needs to leave the emotion out of it, and make some difficult moves and rid themselves of Higgins and Burrows even if they have to eat salary. That being said, I hope both players find success on another team, but it's time this team moved in a different direction.
  5. Virtanen is still really raw, junior for the rest of the year and AHL next year will really help his development. The holes in his game are concerning, but nothing that can't be fixed with a solid development path which he is going to be taking. He might be Torres/Clutterbuck NHL player when he breaks in, but has potential to be more than that. He is going to be a very interesting player to watch for sure.
  6. A really bad tournament for Jake, his hockey sense is clearly something he needs to work on. He needs a good season with the Hitmen and maybe a full year in the AHL. I'm not worried about him, but he is still very raw.
  7. Wonder if Benning will stick to his word and if Virtanen has a great camp and veteran does not, then he moves the veteran
  8. This guy could turn out to be good, but man... Benning could have traded down a few slots and still could have picked this kid AND gotten a late second round pick.....
  9. Nice to see that Gaunce had a great game after being scratched for the previous two playoff games. Good stuff!!
  10. Gaunce is once again, a scratch for Utica tonight in game four.
  11.     Gaunce is a scratch tonight for Game 3 in Utica's playoff series.
