I think teams like to take advantage of smaller players they play them a little harder to throw them off their game and in the playoffs where players get away with more hooking and holding small players have a hard time using their speed you need big skilled guys to create space for them.

Not that it wont happen but all three wont try to beat you as much as Ehlers his speed has him carrying the puck more and holding onto it longer players like him have a hard time getting out of the trolly tracks cause they are moving too fast.

I say if you can add a tough, dirty, skilled player with potential to be in your top 6 do it no use in trying to hit a home run with a small fast skilled player when you have a potential beast battleship who could play dirty and take care of $#it if needed.

This is what i see happening to Ehlers if not Drew than it will be Duncan or Jack.

Im not sure what you think is big but these guys are good size theyre just not heavy if they were they would be slower grab 200pnds and try to throw it around im sure you would get a bit of an idea of how hard it is for D-men to move these guys.

Helm, Maltby, Stuart, Cleary and an American Rafalski helped put them over the top if your talking about the 1 cup they won without Steve Yzerman and they had 3 small euros and the rest were 6 feet or taller.

Yes they do all of them have mostly big players except for Montreal they have 3 players in their top 10 that are under 6 feet tall the majority have mostly Canadian players in their top 10 and a lot of their small players are from NA.

Go to this site TSN NHL.ca go to teams click on the teams that are left in the playoffs click on the players names they will give you size and weight make sure to checkout the top 10 and tell me whats the common theme.

I never once said that small players suck what i am saying is we have guys who could score in the twins players who take a pounding we need players with them who can hit and create space also look at the Hawks they are a big team even their Euros are big only small guy Kane so ya.

I know i should have said there are exceptions but look at those teams everyone of them had good Canadian kids that put them over the top big 1s and small 1s D-men and forwards doing the dirty work also take a good look at your list its not a very long list.

I do like Ehlers for what he might posses in the future but with this high pick and for whats there i would rather take a chance on a Canadian we seem to want the cup more than any other Nation just my opinion thanks for taking the time to respond A C.

It says he is slow in Beach's 2008 player profile right at the bottom not a great skater. Now you see Ritchie he skates well for a big player and has agile feet. http://www.mynhldraft.com/

Nick Ritchie skates well for a big man. Kyle Beach not a great skater. Zack Kassian A player who is needing work on his speed and his skating. Reading their draft reports looks like Ritchie is not as bad as people think and in Zack's case he is faster so you can get faster with proper training and dedication we should see how many of those 5-11 1st rndrs became stars and how many failed.

Does anybody know how many players are projected to go in the first rnd from QMJHL, OHL, and WHL just want to see which league is producing more 1st rnd draft choices.

If Ehlers is so damn good why is his team gonna watch the memorial cup this yr instead of playing in it you would think that a high end player could get his team into a that tourney playing against less than top caliber opposition he should have owned the Q.

Look at the past draft history and tell us when was the last time a 6-3 230 pound power forward was projected top 10 in the draft?

Come on if Pavel Bure was 17 and played in the Q this yr he would have scored a 100 goals and got his team into the memorial cup!

At the 27 sec mark Hunter quit out and Nick realized it so he started throwing jabs i love it he made him look bad for jumping him none of the other first rounders could do this maybe Tuch but my money would be on Nick if he and Tuch ever had a go.
