It is funny how all of us (me included) are on the Canuck rollercoaster ride. We're up when they win, down when they lose. It's sort of like taking a daisy and plucking the petals by saying, "She loves me, she loves me not...". Hint "she loves me not" will fall on the "odd" numbered petals. Since the number of petals on flowers is usually one of the Fibonacci series numbers (starting with 1, 1, 2, 3, 5 etc), and since 10 of the first 14 Fibonacci numbers are "odd" numbers, if that pattern continues, you are in for a lot of "she loves me not" results!

In 30 minutes it was sunny, then storm clouds moved in, we got, thunder, lightening, hail, wind, snow, then sheets of rain. And back to sunshine. So basically the four seasons in 30 minutes
Wow, that's shorter to listening to it by Vivaldi!

Vancouver has better health care, and less guns. We also don't have the current Republicans.

Yup "fit happens"!

My friend is saying they might shut down the season for the Canucks. Any truth to this?
My idea is to wait until both Ottawa and Vancouver are mathematically eliminated. Then play the four games against each other at the end of the season during the playoffs. That way the two teams can satisfy all bonuses etc and determine an order for lottery selection.

Bottom line.. excercise should be part of everyone's covid plan. To call it stupid is well... stupid.
Look the exercise is good, being fit is good, I think that is obvious. What Marjorie Taylor Greene is saying, "You don't need masks, you don't need vaccinations, you don't need to be 2 metres apart, go out and socialize, because if you do what I am doing, you will not get COVIC_19". I agree with all of your comments about exercising, but being fit does not mean avoid the other things.

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned, but I can't help thinking (again) how stupid Marjorie Taylor Greene (US Republican) is. Her latest video showed her working out with a caption that read "This is my anti-COVID plan". Think how many elite athletes who have contacted this virus.

So, how did Boeser and Miller NOT catch this?
It has been found that both have a duplicate 310b45 gene, that gives them super immunity powers to Coronaviruses.

I have just finished listening to a new book on the market (audible.ca but in the bookstores too) called "The Code Breaker", by Walter Isaacson. It's about Jennifer Doudna (Nobel Chemistry Prize co-winner, 2020) and gene editing. I covers the history of genetics, genes, DNA, RNA, CRSPR and mRNA and the incredible work going on over the last 8 to 10 years on a new way to vaccinate. It explains the older methods of vaccinations (that the Anti-Vaxers think are people are still doing) and how this new method works. My degree is in Mathematics, and I was onboard early (1967) with computer programming and the great rivals in silicon valley. This sounds just like that, except the new programming frontier is in Biology and Chemistry, subjects I know little about. So some of it was over my head, but it sure gives me some ammunition for my next argument with an Anti-Vaxer. Well worth the read (or the listen!).

Well, how many Canucks players are front-line workers or over the age of 55?
I think a few play like they're over 55!

Speaking of referees putting their whistles away, I can remember a World Cup rugby final that went into overtime (not sudden death). Each team had been called on a penalty that was within reach for their kickers and each kicker made their kick just before the end of game. Referees still made the calls even thought the fate of the World Cup Championship was on the line. Game ended with a winning drop-kick by Johnny Wilkinson to win the cup for England over Australia in 2003. Refs must play the rules right to the end.

Would NOT be a Canucks game if they didn't incorporate some sort of minority group in the pre game
When is the fat 73 year old grey-haired old men night? Opps, I guess we're not in a minority!!

Your reply makes no sense to the original question of why is there even a loser point or even my response to the query....a game can end with a winner either in reg, OT or skills competition and still not need a loser point....the loser point is a participation ribbon, it rewards failure.
All games should be for three points: Outright win (in regulation time) = 3 points, Win in overtime or shootout = 2 points, Lose in overtime or shootout = 1 point, outright loss (in regulation time) = 0 points.

So a relative came in to watch the game with me a few minutes into the third period. He was going on about how useless Pearson was, and when did he ever do anything. I told him that he scored one of the goals tonight. A few minutes later he was going on about Howryluk and what a waste of space, yada yada yada. I pointed out to him that he had scored the other goal. As soon as they tied it up, he had to go, but not before grumbling about the lack of goals by Miller.....

What good does it do the team if you are out 8 weeks with a broken hand from a fight which ultimately meant nothing?
Or, if Ferland's case, let's get in a fight well trying to come back from a major concussion. And now where is he?

I feel like it's starting to come together and judging based on the hectic start of this season is a bit unfair. It was chaotic and showed....no one was "settled" and adjustments have had to be made.
What I would like to see at this time, is for the defence to have one person from the taxi squad rotated in every game. I want to see Juleivi more, and if it was a regular rotate in, then the person being rotated out would not feel demoted.

As an aside - i love boxing and train 4-5 times a week.
I am happy that you have something to train for. However, I have stopped watching both boxing and MMA because these two sports have one goal in mind: give the opponent some brain damage! After being a boxing fan in the 60's and 70's I eventually woke up when I heard old boxers, like the Quarry brothers being interviewed and realized how much damage their brains had. Now I played rugby for 35 years, and you can get concussions in that (and many other sports, even figure skating!), but that is not the main goal of the sport. Whereas when you are trying to knock someone out (concussion) as the goal in the sport that is not good. Your training seems to be against a puching bag, so that is good. Keep it up!

I remember when he came out for the first basketball practice. The best "body" of any player in any of the sports I coached over 86 teams in rugby basketball and track. 6 foot 7 inches, ripped, right into his body, fluid in all movements, good shot, good low post moves, smart. However he was a Jake Virtanin. I feel the coaches pain!

I'm late to the party today so haven't read a lot of the pages. But why was Conner McDavid so open for his power play goal? This seems to be like people telling the US Capitol police that there is going to be a rumble, and then saying, uh, we were not ready. There where many on this forum saying "Put someone on McDavid" and there he was open with plenty of time. And was Hughes on the penalty kill during that goal?

Brawls meant fights and lots of them and often, the players on the bench -and the goalies- joined in.
As in "Slapshot"! I'm still waiting for someone to do a "Paul Newman" during a line brawl!!

From a friend. My apologies as I should have clarified this in more detail. This wasn’t a legitimate rumor from a credible source. It was a friend of mine who heard someone else speculating.
Sounds like something from Q-Anon!

Growing up, I used to listen to radio broadcasts of the Vancouver Baseball games (Mounties??). It wasn't until years later that I found out that their away games were recreated in a Vancouver studio, complete with play by play, sound effects and crowd noise! Now that was old fashion sports broadcasting !!
