I just got back from lifelabs had to get bloodwork done.  Amazingly during my time there, 5 different people with no mask.  When told they can't come in without masks, they ask why?  Where can I get a mask?

There are a lot of "Future Darwin Award" winners out there. Hope we have enough certificates for their posthumous awards ceremonies.

'm honestly at the point where I spend a lot of brainpower fantasizing about meeting up with an anti masker throwing a tantrum in a store and i get to make good use of my 6'2, 220lb frame and my increasingly low tolerance for these people

Same here! Me and my 5'7", 236 lb frame are right behind you!

The issue is what they can/cannot do in relation to those teachers who don't want to wear masks

Deb, I have worked at 4 private schools and about 9 public schools. The private schools had much more control of their staff than the public schools. Most have only 1 year terms, and you have to redo your employment and pay at the end of each year. One had you sign in with a time and sign out with a time every day. They usually insisted with mandatory staff at grad ceremonies with you wearing your cape from University graduation (they supplied) depending on your faculty. Saturday duty, Sunday duty, compulsory extra-curricular, and so on. So, why can they not say you MUST wear a MASK?

Does that mean the total income of all female teachers equate to 3x more than males?

Teachers pay depends on education level (BA, MA, etc) AND length of service. After 10 years (or close to that), ALL teachers get the same. Sex (or lack of it LOL!) has nothing to do with pay. If you are a department head or part of administration then you get extra pay. If you are a teacher at a private school such as Shawnigan Lake then every teacher is paid a different amount depending on extra-curricular or house duties. The teacher actually meets with the Admin to work out their salary. Still, the sex of the teacher does not come into it.

  5. Maybe instead of giving people fines for their COVID stupidity, they should have them work in an intensive care area of a hospital that has a COVID outbreak. Or as they did in one country, have them dig the graves of those who died from COVID.

Ha...as I type this a news report about a $2300 fine for a 30 person poker party...no masks, no distancing.  So they can do it when there are clear guidelines (which, right now are just about gatherings).

I'm trying to picture a table of poker players all wearing masks? You don't need to have your poker face on!!

I think, quietly, teachers are expecting an extra two weeks tacked on to the winter break.......for students, not teachers.  It makes sense to use that time for a school circuit breaker.

At Cowichan Secondary in Duncan they are on the quarter system. Two classes at a time for 10 weeks. They start their second quarter on Tues, Nov 17. To take two weeks out of that already jam-packed curriculum would be disastrous for a subject such as Math. Already in my tutoring of Math 11 and Math 12 students, I am finding that the holes in their knowledge from there previous grade (because of March to June lock down, etc) is having a real effect on their ability to do this year's work. They just missed the background stuff they should know.

Particularly towards Duncan from what I've seen.

I'm in Duncan, and it is generally face masks on in public. But that definitely is not 100%. It would be nice to know how the Island Health region is broken down. I don't think they are specific enough about where outbreaks are happening. The outbreaks in Nanaimo have been specific, so maybe there is a trend to more openness.

Oh I see. And Covid knows the difference how? Both groups of people are aware that they’re living in a pandemic right?

Of course they do. Both are being stupid. I never said a spontaneous rally was a good thing. I just said that it was not an organized thing. Whereas Biden and Trump rallies are organized and mask wearing and social distancing CAN and SHOULD be in place. They seem to be at Biden rallies.

Futures exciting with D man coming up, Juolevi, Rathbone, Rafferty and Briesbois....Rathbone will also turn heads very soon.

It seems that at one time Woo would have been included on the list you've got there. What has happened to him, why is he sort of out of the picture now?

people were constantly harping on the Drumpf rallies for being super spreader events.

Trump rallies are planned, these are not planned and are spontaneous. Why don't people understand the difference!

I jumped off during the protests, when they were banning mass gatherings but condoning protests.

This is something you'd see or hear on Fox News. "Where is the social distancing and masks at BLM rallies? Why should we have to do it at a Trump rally?" The difference is that a political rally is PLANNED by a political party. A BLM rally or people dancing in the street, was NOT organized by a political party. Every Democrat would wish that they all had masks and social distancing, but they have no control over it. Many rallies are just sheer frustration with police killings.

If your students says 30 kids in a classroom can be a metre apart from each other

Well the desks are 70cm apart (sideways), their mouths are 15 cm in from each side of their desk. So 70 + 15 + 15 = 100cm, which equals 1.00 metre. Q.E.D.

No way a BC highschool classroom can have 30 students 3 ft apart. Not possible.

Probably sideways, but not forward and backward. It was me who said 3 feet, not my student. He would have used metric!  Don't be so picky.

If government has made a mistake it's assuming everyone has common sense.

There is nothing common about "Common sense". A grade 12 student that I tutor says that in their Math 12 class there are 30 students. It's not a large room. He said the desks are moved apart where some used to be shoved together. So they are 3 feet apart. No masks used in the classroom just in the halls. Luckily Vancouver Island still has low COVID numbers. However my business trip to Surrey and the Fraser Valley has had to be cancelled.

The only thing I wonder about with the region-by-region approach is if (for example) the island opens up, will we see people from the VCH and FHA regions going there to enjoy the enhanced freedom and spreading the virus?
