By the time the Canucks win a Cup, Miller will be what we call a grey beard; a player who has been through it all. This is Miller. He is the kind of player that that scores that goal in double overtime of Game 7. Trading him takes the win out of this team.

Over-analyzing why a star player, the best player of the team by far, should be gone, makes you a person of bad faith regardless how logical your argument may be presented as. Let Rutherford and Alvin and the team make that decision for us. No one, not you, not the media, nor the flying monkeyism from media by fans has any value. However, repeating “player be gone” ad infinitum does have the potential of major circumstances; the player may not want to re-sign here. This is a very small town and the players hear that sh!t every day. But hey; there are no correlation between fans desiring a player to stay and therefore a player re-signing, and fans arrogantly saying the player should leave and a player not re-signing.

Not sure. Rutherford is much older and much more successful as a hockey man than his predecessor. I don’t think Rutherford would get ragdolled into making decisions concerning his own position on player management.

You are discounting the value of having kids play in the playoffs for as many games as they can go. Invaluable lessons learned for the next time, toward a Cup. You don’t just park your a$$ at the golf course until the year you think you have all the pieces. You’ll get decimated due to inexperience alone. So much un calculated in this type of mentality. Still “why try if you’re not gonna get it anyways”. That’s a cubicle life right there.
