  1. Great player. Not my choice for captain.

it feels forced, like the Luongo captaincy. Like they named Quinn captain in a bid to tether him to the franchise a bit more to keep New Jersey from poaching him. My other thought is that this is a tell. That Petey is not long for Vancouver after this season.

I’ll still cheer for him and this team, but something is off about this whole thing.

  2. Rocky was old school for sure, but let’s face it, he was a sweaty tomato can.

Now, the Liver King is ancestral. I can picture him and Brock going to town on some killer workouts after a big plate of raw meat and butter.

They didn’t develop kakko and lafreniere the right way.. they dumped them on the 3 and 4th line with minimal minutes and a bunch of grinders.. they were elite scoring potential players played in a checking grinding role to develop.. they should have left them in the juniors and minors to play top line minutes to continue developing rather than dump them in a role that’s not their skill set to develop. They were put in the top 6 once in a while and gets demoted just as fast with almost 0 pp1 minutes playing with leftovers. Chytil is a 3c so he’s developing playing in the right role. Kreider exceeded expectation as I don’t think he was projected as a top 6 but at least they all started their nhl career in the right spot. Most 1st overall is given couple seasons on the top line to sink or swim. Lafreniere literally given 0 chance. Jack Hughes struggled his first 2 season but he was giving every opportunity. Lafreniere? Not even close. But that’s also gotta do with nyr is a playoff team and nj wasn’t. So they should have left him in the juniors or ahl if they were never going to give him a season or 2 on the top line

The Gilbert Brule development arc? Why does Laf remind me of that player?

Oh my god.  Are being serious right now?  You want to play a stupid game of semantics?

I have just shown you that hockey jerseys are openly promoting gambling all game long... and what's your point?  It's okay as long as they don't have them on during warm-ups???

Let's play your stupid game.  Here's Ovechkin warming up this year.  You can bet your ass this is what every warm-up will look like next year.

Could contain: Clothing, Shirt, Blonde, Hair, Person, T-Shirt, Head, Face

Oh, and here's William Karlsson warming up this year during Pride Night:

Could contain: Face, Head, Person, Photography, Portrait, Shirt, T-Shirt, Helmet, Adult, Man

That's right.  They actually removed the gambling ads in the warmup jerseys.  So instead of pride jerseys, you got those ugly gambling ads pasted right where the cup patch was supposed to be.  Happy?

How you took this discussion from my first post about being glad the special warm up jerseys were are no more to where you are now is amazing.

    More bewildered than happy.

Everything in pro sports is designed to make money.  Equipment.  Endorsements.  Merchandise.  Every aspect has been commercialized to ****.  To suggest that it's not inherently political is disingenuous.

Sports gambling is particularly destructive for fans (especially during times of inflation) and yet the league and its players have gone all-in on it.  Alcohol consumption is even worse for families, and yet there's nothing more iconic than sports and beer.  So you have two major social vices (gambling and drinking) bombarding us with product ads.  As long as it's profitable, nobody complains.  I guess the NHL no longer saw promoting social causes to be profitable anymore.  It's all about money and that is shameful.

Perhaps there will come a day when the warm up jerseys are advertising or gambling related.

You know Gen Z is up to 30 now? those millennialsare old farts now too.

    Gen X here.

Gen Z generally whinge even more than the millennials. They both like to act tough when they’re driving until you get catch up to them at a red light. Pretty sure the one kid pissed himself when I tapped on his window.
