defense has been the main issue since the start of Green's tenure. Although yesterday's meltdown was likely due to player personnel or lack thereof, we would've prob still lost. or come up with another 6-5, 7-5 win. winning while allowing an average of 4-5 goals per game is not going to be sustainable. Last year we had Markstrom. who was a &^@#ing god. Obviously he's gone now and his departure has emphasized our pre-existing defensive struggles. I honestly think the coaching staff is the culprit here. Green's ok. I actually like his calm demeanor. but baumgartner has got to go. Not just because he's the defense coach, but we need someone with more experience. Perhaps someone who's been a head coach before who would embrace the role as an assistant and can really help with game management. To train players to up their defensive game and team defensive structure as a whole. I'm glad we are sucking right now during a shortened season versus a normal season. lets learn from this year. perhaps collect a high draft pick, and win when things are back to normal

agreed. once you lower expectation of him, he's not that bad of a player. no eye boggling mistakes, but nothing great either. chips in here and there. Can work on his stickhandling tho and leverage his size a bit more

Don't expect Jake to read and make plays like a 1st or 2nd liner. He just doesn't have it in him, but that's ok. As a 3rd liner he's playing not bad to be honest. For someone with zero vision on the ice and no awareness of the players around him, he's still has speed and can carry the puck quickly. that said a few practical/achievable things he can work on -stick handling. learn to stick handle the puck and beat players 1 on 1 . watch video of how horvat drives the puck towards the net. he's able to do that because he stick handles and makes a move to beat the player. that way you dont' have to always circle behind the net and look like a complete idiot after -hit and go after every player. Since you can't any plays with the puck, make yourself useful on the ice and hit. not just 2 or 3 hits per game. try 6-8 minimum.

what do you expect, its Jake. All he knows is to skate in a straight line and throw the puck towards the net aimlessly. Also, don't expect him to beat anyone 1 on 1 one with the puck
