Blue Jackets are looking to bounce back after a miserable season and looking at their forward depth- they lack a 2nd line imo.
Other then Jenner, Laine, Gaudreau- the offensive skill drops off. Hoping for better seasons from their young talent they could use a semi veteran presence like Boeser/ Garland
Trade Option 1:
Blue Jackets recieve:
Boeser or Garland
Canucks recieve:
Andrew Peeke
---
Trade Option 2:
Blue Jackets receive:
Boeser or Garland, Rathbone, 2025 2nd rd pick.
Canucks Receive:
Boqvist
Boqvist is an upcoming dman, not the same size as peeke but shows some promise as a younger dman. Thus the additional draft asset and prospect Rathbone
--
we dump some cap- get better on the back end with more options
-
Money can buy everything except a cup..
Petey may leave if we don't show him we have a chance- same with any superstar. May it McDavid/ Matthews.
Only reasons Sedins stuck around is because they were committed to us and it eventually bit us in the ass. Same way Crosby and Malkin are commited to the pens etc.
-
Hughes Soucey
Wolanin Hronek
Cole Myers
-
Brisebois
Rathbone
Irwin
Hirose
-
I love the addtition of Hronek
Gives us an actual top 3 or top 4 dman
Problem is that we shouldnt be pairing him with Hughes, its best for us that their talent is spread out.
Hughes. ______
______ Hronek
______ Myers
Ideally we can move Myers and save 6m for a bottom pairing dman
-
Wouldnt hurt if he accepts a 2 way contract- keep him for the AHL see how he grows
- 1
-
Beauvillier Petey Kuzmenko
Mikheyev Miller Boeser
Hoglander Suter Garland
PDK/ Joshua Blueger Podkolzin
We have one too many wingers- how are we supposed to let Podkolzin or Hoglander grow when they are stuck in the bottom 6 pending an injury.
If we utilize them we save cap too.
-
Nico and Nemec for Miller and Hughes
-
-
I like this deal for the Ducks- feel it will be a good deal in the next 2 years when hes a 80 point guy consistently.
Zegras probably gets under 9M

Predators had a 2.7 Goals for last season and have lost Scorers in Duchene and Johansen in the off season.
They lack the offensive edge going into the season and will have to rely on Defence and Goaltending.
Current top end talent other then Forsberg is ROR/ Nyquist/ Rookie Tomasino
They have 7.9M in capspace
-
Canucks send one of the following in Garland/ Boeser/ Beavullier to the predators in exchange for 2024 2nd pick (the best of their 3) and potentially a 2024 4th rd pick
This is done for capspace relief for the Canucks and gives the Preds a chance to be a wildcard team - yes I know we may be competing for their same spot

Current NHL Line up for the Canucks when healthy includes too many wingers and a 3C of Blueger, that makes me wonder is he our guy.
The Canucks have no Centre for their 2nd PP unit with Petey and Miller on our first unit.
Blueger would be great for our PK but brings no offensive edge for the team.
With Petey or Miller injured we are left vulnerable too on our Centre Depth- yes we Aman as our 4C , Dries or Studnicka
Proposal - assuming we can move cap in 2 of the following in Myers, Garland, Pearson, Boeser, Beauvillier
-
Canucks sign Jonathan Toews for the purpose of being our 3C- running our 2nd unit PP and giving us veteran depth down the middle - great mentor to Hoglander Podkolzin if given 3rd line minutes with him.
Toews had 31 points in 53 games with an average ice time over 17 minutes
-
At a reduced role over a 80 game schedule he can possibly have 30 plus points as our 3C, give us a huge boost in our faceoff percentage and also be a factor in our PK
I do understand he is an aging body but still a great asset
Proposal 1 year x 1.8 M or 2 years at 3.4M
----
Canucks line up with Toews
Mikheyev Petey Kuzmenko
Beauvillier Miller Boeser
Hoglander Toews Garland
Podkzolin Blueger Joshua
Extras: PDG, Aman, Dries, Studnicka, Pearson
-
At the end of the day cap is our biggest issue and I understand this makes Blueger an overpaid 4C

Toronto should move Nylander for Pesce- nylander will cost too much and pesce makes that D not laughable
-
Canucks get:
Pesce
Canes get:
Karlsson @ 50% retention
Sharks get:
Boeser or Garland
Carolinas 2024 2nd rd pick - becomes their 1st rd pick if Carolina makes it to conference finals
Canucks 2024 3rd pick (if Pesce resigns)
Rathbone
Myers
- 2
-
They need to give us Tom Wilson realistically
-
I agree with the concept of age 65-70 you have to retest- lots of seniors tbh that need some work on their skills
Extra revenue generated from this should be used to reduce everyones premium

1) Canucks currently possess 2 of the top 10 centres in the NHL in PPG over the last 3 seasons
Petey and Miller
Petey's contract should be in mind with everything we do as he is our face for this franchise. We have him for 1 more year as he enter's his prime imo.
Resign Petey this off season 8 years @ 85 Million - AVG cap hit of 10.625 M
--
2) Clean up our top 9 wingers
Trade pieces include Boeser, Garland, Mikheyev, Beauvillier, Kuzmenko, Hoglander, Podkolzin
We have 7 guys for only 4 winger jobs in our top 6.
Podkolzin and Hoglander are cheaper options to play on our 3rd line and can step up as needed into top our top 6 lines. For this reason they are safe .
Kuzmenko gave Petey his best season and for that reason he is safe.
Mikheyev allows us to be a better defensive team- is a speed / pk specialist- for this reason he is safe.
-
It comes down to Boeser, Garland, Beauvillier - Boeser is the highest paid player of the 3 , Garland is some eyes not worth the 5m but he doesn't get the PP time he did in Arizona. Beauvillier is a UFA after this season- and the question becomes will anyone bite.
Our one advantage is this years off season market has no big players. We shouldn't trade either player while compromising our future and for this reason. I believe Garland and Beauvillier are out.
-
Proposal 1: CBJ had one of the worst goals for last year- Garland can add 50 pts to a team playing 2nd line minutes behind Laine and Gaudreau.
Canucks trade Garland and our 3rd pick to Columbus in exchange for Columbus 2023 2nd rd pick (top 40 pick)
We shed near 5m in cap while moving up near 30 spots.
---
Proposal 2A:
Now for our 3C - Ideally I'd love ROR , but the term and cap hit would be unrealistic
ROR at 5 m X 4 years
OR
Proposal 2B:
Barbashev would be an asset to this team- he can PK and centre our 2nd unit on our PK and step up as needed. He had a down year on a blues team but he is only 27 yo. One downside is his face off percentage
Offer Barbashev 3.5m x 4 years
-
TOP 9 consists of
Mikheyev Petey Kuzmenko
Beauvillier Miller Boeser
Hoglander ROR/ Barbashev Podkolzin
Hoglander being a RFA signs either a mid term deal of 2 m x 4 years banking on himself to stick in the NHL
TOP 9 costs us near 40 to 42M
---
Defense is a huge problem on its own
Hughes - Hronek
OEL- Myers
Burroughs - Bear
this top 6 costs us near 30M assuming Bear signs near 2-2.5m and Burroughs near 1M. The problem is we still suck and have 2 guys costing us near 13M for not that much value.
I don't support the idea of an OEL buyout due to long term ramifications of this move.
Hughes - Bear
OEL - Hronek
Rathbone- Burroughs
at this point we have to move Myers and his 6M out and any team thats a bottom cap can take him . Canucks move Myers to hawk or arizona for the most popular person 'future considerations' - it gets them to the cap floor for 1M pocket cost.
I'd love to add Schenn for 2 years x 1.5 M if he would consider but none the less moving Myers brings our top 6 down to 25M approx. He adds toughness that no one else shows other then Burroughs
If by any miracle we can find someone to take OEL, Gostisbehere would be a nice target to be our 2nd pairing LD.
-
Canucks should target a veteran goalie as a backup but with our cap issues its going to be a rotation of Martin/ Silovs/ Delia at this point. Silovs is the future but we can't have him sitting 60 games in a year and not getting play time.
TOP 9 = 42M
6dmen - 25M
Goalies- 6M
----------
73 M for 17 players.
4TH line can rotate with Nils Aman as the centre. Joshua, Dries, Studnicka, Di Guiseppe - combination of 5 = 4.5 M
Add Woo or Wolanin as a 7th dman gets us another 1.5M
We can roster a 23 team line up under 80m assuming we can move Myers and Garland.
-
If need be move Beauvillier at the deadline to target depth on D / free cap space if we are sellers ;(
Losing Myers cap space will go towards Hronek and Petey's salary come 2024/2025- hopefully by then cap jumps another 4m

More Pens. I sometimes wonder if we're actually hiring the best candidates or just Jim's old buddies.
now we just need crosby to come for a bit
-
we need to have a different game schedule
31 teams to match against- 7 in your division
7 division teams x 4 games = 28 games
24 non division team x 2 games = 48 games
76 game schedule - regulation wins are 3 pts, ot wins 2pts - ot loses 1pts
No more shootout- go with a 3 v 3 OT with no time limit (eventually team scores in the first 10 minutes as no way a coach can play the same guys for a long duration without a slip up and open ice)
get the playoffs started sooner- top 4 teams qualify and at the end of each division champion you have your final 4 where regular season record dictates who plays who
this way you can have an atlantic/ metro final or a pacific/ central finals

Miller, 2023 1st, Hoglander, Silovs
or we wait until hes a RFA and Miller is off the books and take him as a UFA- tavares like play
-
They need offense and Garland + Boeser both need a new look imo
Boeser's value has gone up a bit imo post deadline

The Preds shed a lot of players these past few weeks and have sneakily acquired a lot of draft capital for this upcoming June. They still have a solid core with Forsberg, Saros, Josi and Duchene. Looks like their reset will be a bit longer than ours but Poile has done a masterful job following through with those tough decisions and Trotz, as new GM, will have lots of players in their pipeline for the future.
They have for the '23 draft:
2 firsts, 2 seconds, 3 thirds, 3 fourths and 2 fifths
Plus they have for the '24 draft:
1 first, 3 seconds, 1 third, 2 fourths
Aside from the Yotes and Blackhawks, who are complete tear downs, the Preds have done a fine job getting picks for players.
Now its a matter of getting them to take on boeser or garland for some of those early picks

The way I see it- you got 3 years to make a move before Bedard is signed for 13M (assuming he is a generational talent)
Move Garland, Boeser, Myers, OEL (if possible).
Get assets back and solidify our D.
Ultimately Bedard takes over as 1C ( no offence to Petey )
Petey/ Miller can be 2c and if need be a 3c depending on our depth/ skill upfront.
-
Until our pk is resolved and our D improves it doesn't matter what Bedard does- we would be another Oilers
Elite talent upfront w/ shitty overpaid D
-
Imagine if we actually rebuit as soon as we got handicapped by Kesler.
Imagine us trading the sedins (salary retained) to a team for assets - would have 14M in cap space to get crap players for picks.
Imagine no ericksson- 6m we could have had for assets.
Imagine us trade Markstrom for assets when we knew the seattle draft was up.
Imagine us being patient w/ McCann and Grabner
Imagine no beagle, rousell - 5m cap we could have utilized.
Imagine trading edler and burrows when we knew we were done

[Rumour] Friedman: Zegras likely signed to bridge deal

Id give him a 8 x 8M deal - good value for both - contract looks amazing in 2 years time
Some say hes worth less. But hes their star forward atm and should be near 7m.
He probably feels he's worth 9 plus
