  1. God knows what thread this should go in since there are so many Benning threads open, but here is today's interview with him in Philly for the draft:

    https://soundcloud.com/team-radio-interviews/jim-benning-predraft-june26th-2014

That covers most of it, but it was good to listen to it as well so check out the SoundCloud link above.

Thanks for shareing this im glad hes not saying mutch about his moves but saying a lot at the same time about desires. Pretty significint comments tho this should of bin its own thread

  2. The Bruins were horrible for years and San Jose isn't exactly full of young studs. To compete and rebuild at the same time requires amazing drafting, more importantly it requires having a deep prospect pool which we don't have atm. Another down season and good scouting/drafting and your plan may work.

Thats true and a good point. Little off topic but its why the ducks look frightening as they are a great team but also have a ton of good prospects there future looks good. Tampa too but not as domenant

  3. I don't entirely agree with this. There is some solid bottom pairing help on the blue line available as UFAs and Niskanen who they can throw $5 million at while still having Nurse Klefbom and mroe ready to move up the charts on to the roster.

Tanev might not be enough of a dangle for them to move down knowing there is still an outside chance Ekblad is still available.

But if he is picked there is a possibility they might take that deal. As someone pointed out Tanev + Fleury could be viable for them.

Although they might look at a chance at Milano/Sanheim or someone similar as well and trade way down into the teens while picking up a much better possible roster player and package.

Thats a good point i supose the do have some options. U know the way u outlined it here edmonton could have a excellent team if they got lucky with some young studs on defense and one or two key signings or trades. Cause we all know they have the offensive weapons but there weakness is on d

I hope it doesnt work out for them not only because theyre are rival but also because the majority of my cousins and family are fans of them or the flames and they keep there mouths shut about hockey the way there teams have play haha

I dont mean to sound mean or jerky haha

  4. I'll probably get yelled at for this but I think I would like to see a trade with Edmonton. Maybe the 6th and Tanev for the 3rd.

Assuming Florida and Buffalo take AE and SR we could get SB or LD.

I think Edmonton would like that deal, would Vancouver fans like it?

No way edmonton is desperate for help on d they are not in a good bargining position we dont give them are golden boy for three spots id rather with buffalo or florida

  5. I would rather have Lack than Miller, granted I think it would be healthy for him to have a vet goalie to back him up. Not sure what kind of role Miller is looking for.

Isnt that what luu did for him last year? U think is necesary to have more mentering him? I think if we are to go for rebuild that this is a experiment year where we see what are young guns can do and if things go realy well then make ajustments and if not make more changes next off season

  6. Can someone link me to the information that says tanev is part of that deal cause the only thing I saw had garrission but you all are throwing tanevs name round like it's a sure deal!

Is it just fan speculation or is there something to go through.

Garrison signed a ntc and home town deal cause he wanted to play here and rejected a deal to flordia hes not going back there id be VERY suprised

  7. Not from TSN but:

    twitter-icon-sports_bigger.pngNews1130 Sports@News1130Sports 50m

Have learned the #Canucks have called the agent for UFA Dave Bolland. General talks have taken place.

    twitter-icon-sports_bigger.pngNews1130 Sports @News1130Sports 50m

The Bolland camp won't do anything with Vancouver until they resolve the Ryan Kesler situation.

    45]

Didn't think it was worthy of it's own thread.

Yeah elvis would def report u lol

Id be ok with getting bolland last year when we could of used a 3c but if were serious about bo coming up next year as 3c where does that leave bolland? Seems to stunt are futures growth even tho i think hes a great 3c

  8. So to sum it up. This is what the last 5 pages look like

1 camp, trading Shinkaruk, Tanev AND the 6th overall is not worth moving up for yet another center. Shinkaruk has the potnetial to be a top 6 sniper in this league. Tanev can be a solid top 4 shutdown D pairing and is only getting better every single year. Nylander and Draisatl have the potnetial to be top line centers.

2nd Camp: Shinkaruk can bust, Tanev can never realize his full potential. Reinhart...now THAT is a guy who can win you a championship guaranteed based on potential. That potential...wow that potential.

    See how that looks?

    Too true warhippy

I think we need to come to the middle id really like reinhart but not willing to part with are untoucheables like bo shincky kass and jensen. We need are futur we cant just keep trading it for other future

That said i really want reinhart and would be willing to trade tanev

  9. Lol, people need to stop parroting the term "weak draft" as if that means there are no good players in the top 5.

They call it a weak draft because it's shallow, not because there's no elite players in the top 10. Please learn the difference.

Reinhart is on a whole other level than Horvat, Domi, and Shinakruk. Give me a break. He put up great points on a crap team and pretty much carried them.

It just boggles my mind the lack of knowledge of what an impact player this guy is. Instead of watching youtube clips and reading TSN, people should actually watch him play and read what coaches and teammates have to say about him.

Bravo excellent post i really think we need to target reinhart as is something special and Will be a #1 centre in two years hopefully for us

But i disagree at the expence of shinck. We need to keep are future for this rebuild. Teams like the panthers are in a diff situation to us cause they dont care to get young they dont want are youth theyd want are curent roster players so i think we can stay away from oferring shincky

  10. @Bure to mogilny. sorry bro but they both have the same ceiling Jensen is however more likely to reach it. god people think shinkaruk is going to be a susperstar for some reason I don't get. he has shown nothing to prove what you people think.

Shinkaruk is a natural goal scorer who we have not had in are system in a long time so im excited and hopfully jensen too dont get me wrong i was really impresed by him last year and looking forward to what he can do in a nother year.

  11. Matt Larkin of The Hockey News:

Top five unrestricted free agents who will get more money than they should:

    1. Paul Stastny

    2. Thomas Vanek

    3. Ryan Miller

    4. Matt Niskanen

    5. Ryan Callahan

Thanks for shareing this i really wonder what vaneks value is now after his joke playoffs performance. I wouldnt want him on the canucks unless for under $3.5 million and he easily will probably get double from minny or phoenix. A stupid team will overpay miller: islanders probably. Callahan and stastny are pretty good and i think will look like stastny will be over payed but i think he will really shine and become elite. Callahan not so sure i was not impressed in tampa. Hes good but i agree will be over payed. Niskanen i dont know hes pretty good and if are d was not so set id like to get. Could see florida targeting him or buffalo overpaying for him
  12. From hockey buzz

    On Markov...

It appears to be coming to a head in Montreal and I sure wouldn't call it a slam dunk that Markov is signed before the draft. Detroit and Edmonton have very serious interest.

    On Vanek...

While many still feel he will be heading to where his family wants to be in Minnesota it really doesn't appear a given that the Wild are interested in going very high for Vanek, and yet Phoenix may be. Anaheim, once very much in the mix for Vanek, is only monitoring this loosely at this point I am told.

    On Mason Raymond...

Winnipeg and Columbus look to be willing to go much higher than Toronto may be at this point...That could change though.

    On Joe Thornton...

There are those who are no implying he doesn't want to play in Detroit or Toronto...all I know is I interviewed Thornton a few years ago and he cited both teams among the teams and cities he most liked to play in and against. I would keep an eye on Anaheim here as well. Kesler and Spezza prices may lead Anaheim to this option I am told.

    On Jonas Hiller...

Basically a two team race, Minnesota and NJ, although I have definitely heard the Canucks mentioned. Hiller will be quite the find for someone this summer.

    On Ryan Miller...

This is a three team race between Vancouver, San Jose, and Pittsburgh...Anaheim appears to have decided to mainly stick with their kids...for now..

    No thanks to m/hiller

  13. So what? How else is Linden supposed to get information past the intrusive parasites that make up the majority of press in this city?

Anyone who lies to the media is fine by me, especially considering how the media likes to alter their "facts".

Linden is acting in the best interests of the team, by keeping the media at arms length. Being butthurt about Linden lying is just sad.

Bingo! This is exactly what Linden so far has done and has to do for the future. I like him as president allready! :)
