    The latest from Bob

As tweeted by TSN Hockey Insider Bob McKenzie on Monday, the Columbus Blue Jackets need to resolve their offseason plans with forward R.J. Umberger. He asked for a trade in May and makes $4.5 million in each of the next three seasons.

McKenzie adds that the last resort would be to buy out Umberger, but the Jackets remain hopeful there's a market for him.

McKenzie also reports that the Colorado Avalanche are shopping winger P.A. Parenteau. he has two years left on his deal at $4 million per year.

    Craig's List

Oilers GM Craig MacTavish told The Edmonton Sun's Terry Jones that he would like to add four or five players - with one or two of them via trade and two or three through unrestricted free agency.

"It would be nice to get something in place before free agency," said MacTavish, explaining that trades were the first priority.

"The managers meeting at the final really gets everybody talking a little bit more. This week will be a busy week for everybody to see what the fits are out there.

"We had our pro scouts meeting Thursday and Friday. We had some good discussions there. This year there are not so many top free agents available. The guys who would normally be secondary targets are now the primary targets. It's a good year to be a UFA."

    Richards Gone?

Larry Brooks of The New York Post writes that the Rangers have conducted their annual pre-free agency and pre-draft player evaluation meetings and adds that Brad Richards is expected to become the club's second and final amnesty buyout - perhaps as early as this week.

A buyout of Richards would clear $6.67 million of cap space for the Rangers, who would have about $24 million in space if the cap is at $70 million next season.

    No Canada?

According to Bruce Garrioch of The Ottawa Sun, the Calgary Flames have made a pitch to the Senators for Jason Spezza, but a deal is unlikely to happen.

As Garrioch writes, Spezza isn't too interested in playing in Canada as the Flames, Canucks, Oilers and Jets are on his list of 10 teams that he doesn't want to be traded to.

He adds the Flames are thought to be offering Jiri Hudler, Mikael Backlund, or Dennis Wideman and one of their several second and third round draft picks.

Spezza can bugger off we wouldnt want him anyways sutch a arogant guy

  2. The more i think of it the more i believe 2012 should of bin are year. Think about it we had a lot of the same peices from 2011 run we won presidents trophy against all odds but are offense dryd up against the kings who suprised us

I think the mistake of the year was the kassian trade. Now here me out before u dismis. I love kassian and in the long term will be better then cody hodgson but in 2012 hodgson was starting to brake out offensivly and was scoring HUGE clutch goals (remember goal 4 against boston in boston with those crazy fans??). We lost all those games to LA by one goal are offense was just not enough and i think haveing a third line danger of scoreing goals would of bin a differense maker. And LA had mutch easier competiton after us including the finals and we wouldnt of had a problem either. I think was huge error by gillis to make that trade even if is better for the future but because that was are window that was are last great shot and we shouldnt of bin trading offensive game ready assets for a future stud who was not game ready atm

  3. Some crazy stuffs going to happen come draft day. I have a gut feeling what might happen but I dont want to put it on the board. Dont want to ruin Bennings master plan lol. I hope it happens though! be so stoked.

As I leave you all in suspense Lol.

Come on u gotta tell us now u cant do that!! :) haha not fare!

I had a dream we draft ekblad but i dont think is realistic the only way it can happen is if we trade for #2 from buffalo thinking to get reinhart but florida suprises by taking him at 1

  4. I'd be more than content to stay at number 6. If Draisaitl falls to #6, Canucks take him.

If Dal Cole falls to #6, we take him.

Even if Nylander is available to us at that point, we take him.

Really, Reinhart is not the be all, end all. We don't have to give up the moon for Reinhart. Maybe Florida or Buffalo drafts him, and then considers a deal with another team. that's still very possible.

Much like almost everone on this board that believes that Kesler is probably gone by the draft. I too believe he'll be gone by that time. Benning would be smart to get prospects, picks, and a young player in return. the demand in return for Kes SHOULD be high. The other team is getting a second line centre, Selke winning centreman. But my hope is that Benning doesn't hold out like Gillis did.

Either way. The Canucks have been VERY quiet. Something must be happening behind the scenes for the franchise to be so tight lipped about things...

    not even a leak.

Yur right 6 is still top notch so how about keep 6 and than trade kesler to the ducks for etem 10 & 24 than we have 6 10 & 24 plus bo shinck etem gaunce jensen kassian fox cassels for future fwd not to mention the money from kes gone and the cap increase leaves us money for ufa's that could complement or help to lead offense and PLUS are d is set i think PLUS we go with lack cause theres a good chance we dont rock it this year so why waste money and lacks confidense by getting a expensiv vet like miller and hiller. Stay with lack and markstrome

  5.

    idea idea!!! lets trade

kesler, kassian, tanev, next years first, 2016 first, lack, edler, garrison, hammer, corrado, gaunce, jensen, schroeder, hansen, burrows, and maybe bieksa

for the top 5 picks!!! and maybe another 2 or 3 say 10 from Anaheim and 24 and maybe package that 24 with a player or two to get like somewhere in the 8-15 range?

maybe we can tweak the deal a bit but it makes sense to me!

then we can draft 1-6 and a few others

    ekblad

    reinhart

    bennett

    dal colle

    Drasaitl

    Ritchie

    Virtanen

    Fleury!

    woop woop!

look at that nhl 15 lineup baaaaaaaaaaaaaaby!!!!

I get what your saying we need to get young but we cant give up all those guys we just need to give up a portion draft well and develop the youth in to a champion ship team

  6. are you on CRACK MAN!!!!

TANEV, SMITH PELLEY AND THE 6TH FOR FIRST?????!!!!!

WTF ARE YOU ON, HOW IN THE HELL DOES BENNING NOT THINK (IF WE ARE IN THAT WONDERFUL POSITION TO HAVE 6,10,24)

    THAT

    TANEV

    SMITH PELLEY

AND SAY NYLANDER ARE NOT WORTH MORE THAN REINHART

    USE YOUR BRAIN PLEASE

can we start a thread where the people who are doing drugs stay? i am so tired of the stupidity on cdc...

it really is unbelievable, do people even THINK about what they are typing?

A little harsh dont u think i thought the proposal was reasonable and the guy said was open to tweeking it to make work

Just a sports form lightn up

  7. I think that if all the ask was Tanev and our 6th for #1 that deal would've been done already.

Tanev is good, but we dont really need. The risk of Reinhart not turning out to be a very good NHLer is much less than someone at 6.

We don't have a top C prospect, this gives us one.

If Florida wants Tanev and our 6th for 1st, you do that deal.

That would be the bold move the team needs. I just don't think Tallon will take that deal

Well maybe trade with buffalo cause i think the 1st will take eckblad. So trade 6 corrado and maybe a later pick for #2 and take reinheart

  8. This is like deja vu as the Canucks under AV were also known for horrible lapses that cost them games late. That and I am starting to think that maybe the diving phenomenon in Vancouver was part of AV's playbook......because I don't ever remember seeing the Rangers key guys dive this much before AV took over. LA are notorious divers too of course, but they have been for a long time.

LOL i think allmost every team has divers now its bin prooven by the bruins and kings it helps to win the cup

Sharks prefected it but still couldnt help them haha

  9. If that's all it's going to take to get that first pick, then I'd be content to part ways with Kassian, the 6th, and our 36th for it.

Then, trade Kesler to Anaheim for the 10th (Perlini, Kapanen, Fleury, or Ritchie) and Etem.

Theyres no point to this. Kassian is a importent part of are future theyres no way we give him PLUS our 6th overall for that.

If we are gonna give up are 6th for the #2 i say the 6th plus schroder and corrado and maybe a 2nd to
