  1. I was afraid about this situation. There is a rule in Czech Extraliga saying you need to have young players (not sure about the exact formulation but two young players should be there I think) in your lineup. They thought this will help young players to play more because there are lot of managers who are not willing to play young players, it is all about business and contracts and player´s development is not that important for them. He was even sent to 3rd tier league in Frydek-Mistek this year. The rule did not solve anything. They keep Jasek up and play him in games but did not give him enough ice-time. These practices are started to being critized. I just hope Jasek will remain positive and work hard as he can even though hard work is sometimes a word used in not positive manner by hockey players in here (this is slowly changing as well). I will keep fingers crossed for him to go overseas or different European league next year (he can´t do anything but being silent this year due his contract and practices in Czech hockey). Lots of talented juniors are copying the path after Pastrnak, Vrana, Zacha, Zboril were successfull when going abroad. It is really not a coincidence that there is less and less unique talent out of this league.
  2. He played less than 9 minutes in all of those games. He plays on the 4th line.
  3. PM me if there is some interestingly-looking article about Jasek in the Czech language. I will gladly translate.
  4. 83 kg + 5 kg = 88 kg = 194 lbs
  5. http://www.hcocelari.cz/clanek.asp?id=Navrat-do-Trince-je-pro-mou-budoucnost-to-nejlepsirika-Lukas-Jasek-2955 This is one year old article. The summary is: - his favourite player is Steven Stamkos - wanted to try swedish junior league to try different hockey style and the league which is known for good development - played there in Elite junior league with guys three years older than him, learned English and little Swedish and took something from swedish mentality - came back to Trinec to fulfill his goal to play with men - enjoyed Ivan Hlinka tournament where Czechs played great. Was happy with himself but regrets playing semifinal and final with injured arm so could not be 100% - about low PIMS, not afraid to hit and play hard but wants to avoid unnecessary penalties when stick is involved.
  6. Canucks Prospects ‏@NucksWatch 26m26 minutes ago Jasek also focusing on adding muscle mass. Full interview here: http://hcocelari.cz/clanek.asp?id=Letim-do-Kanadyale-prioritou-je-Trinectvrdi-Lukas-Jasek-3546 … #Canucks I am like I am going to translate the interview for you since I am Czech. Here you go: I am flying over to Canada, but Trinec is still priority This is another success for Trinec's youth hockey. Two players from Trinec were selected in this year NHL draft and they are going to experience development camp in the country of current World hockey champs in Canada. For 17-year old Lukas Jasek, this will be second experience from abroad after spending one season in swedish junior team Sodertalje. Lukas, congratulations. What was your reaction after being selected on Saturday? I was watching the draft at home with my dad. I was not even nervous and did not think that much about if or when can I be selected. And my first reaction? Happiness and excitement. This time of year, for me, that was as to receive final school result [not sure if there is one word for it as we have in CZ], result of my lifelong efforts. I received many congrats from friends and family members so that I couldn't even answer them all. I thank them all. You are flying over to Canada for prospects development camp in Vancouver. Do you know how the camp will look like? I am flying to Canada either on Wednesday or Thursday, I am waiting for my flight ticket from my agent. On the camp there will be everyone from this year's draft class and from the previous one as well. There should be some older guys invited also. We should play few model games, will hit the gym and they will watch us so everyone will try to shine. The camp should last around eight days. What do you know about the club that chose you? To be honest, I don't know a lot about Vancouver yet. What I know is that Radim Vrbata played there last season and the biggest stars are Sedin brothers from Sweden. It is a hockey city, the people loves this sport over there. Some people say that Vancouver is maybe the most beautiful city of the world. Interesting architecture, beautiful nature. Will you have time to do a little sightseeing there? I have no idea about how much time we will have for that right now. I sense there may be few moments to see the city and surroundings. I am curious about how does it look like there. I saw Vancouver only on TV when Olympics was there (smiling). Summer camp focused on physical part in Trinec just ended. How do you look back to it? I focused my training on workouts in gym, that is area I still see my weaknesses. I needed to add muscles. I weighted only 83 kg two months ago, now I gained 5 more kg. So let me know thank to Sajler brothers who prepared great conditioning workouts. I presume that you won't stay in Canada after the camp and will come back to Trinec, right? I don't think I should stay in Canada this year and play in junior league there. My priority is still Trinec where I'd like to play more for men and gained experience. I still have a valid contract here so there is nothing to think about. NHL is my big dream but the way to get there is still very long and curvy. Notes: The photo is super recent there and now Lukas weights 194 lbs. I would like to comment little bit on letting young players play in the Czech league. This is sometimes little tricky and not really easy. Elite Czech teams are run by businesses and the main goal is to succed. They sign players to contracts and for young players it is sometimes not easy to earn ice-time and is not easy to change the club if that happens. The example is Pavel Zacha who didn't have a great ice-time while playing for Liberec so he decided to terminate the contract. For this act he had to pay a lot of money to be able to come to Canada. Hockey development system in the Czech Republic suffers and is connected to corruption. On positive note, there are still great coaches and kids growing up and few Elite teams which plays their young talents (e.g. Pardubice, Viktovice). I just hope Trinec will be fair when utilizing Jasek. 27 games from last year is very promising! He must have had a very limited ice-time though. Will keep my eye on him next season.
  7. Jaromir Jagr too (even though there is no public photo of him throwing hay) Another hard worker from his birth is Pavel Zacha. Not sure if pitching hay down is somehing he did as well though.
  8. Well, if Canucks management agree that Hitmen are not the best fit for him next season, that could be pretty interesting. What can happen? A. Canucks will keep him for the season (will he be ready?) B. Canucks will try to push Hitmen to trade him (how possible is that?) Is there any other option?
