  1. right, because he spent so much time on it, makes sense now.
  2. Same with the Hodgson trade, Luongo trade, Gillis firing, Bertuzzi trade. Far too often these "insiders" find out the same time we do. For the most part they provide a tabloid service, something to spark discussion.
  3. I disagree with point 2, many of the top players on boston were drafted from 03 to 06, the didn't become the team they are until the Kessel trade in 09. So there will be a 4-6 year turnaround time from now for his picks to actually become legit players, who knows what the landscape will look like at that point. For point 1) I did read somewhere that he spends his summers in Portland OR. Also does anyone really consider Gary Valk an astute hockey guy? Really?
  4. http://bruins.nhl.com/club/page.htm?id=38866 The link shows that Benning joined the Bruins in july of 2006, essentially after the draft they picked Lucic and Marchand. No credit given for Seguin, Kessel...i guess, but Kessel was at one point expected to go number 1 that year. Hamilton i would say is it's too early, but he is definately not a bust. Other than that there is Krug, Spooner, Colborne, Caron and Subban that stand out. Credit for seeing the potential in Reilly Smith. However responsible for super bust Hamill, Couture went right after. Boston`s drafting since Benning has been pretty average, no? Is this guy really the draft guru that we were promised? Who ever was incharge of bruin`s scouting from 03-06 really cleaned up, is he available?
  5. Then why do you keep referencing that only 30% of ehelrs' points involve drouin?
  6. Because on this forum one of the main things people have to support that ehlers is a good pick at 6 are his numbers, and his hypothetical numbers playing without drouin, and how many of his points were scored with drouin being involved on the scoresheet. Numbers are only part of the equation. McDavid is doing what he is doing a year younger than Ehlers, he is bigger, he is a center who plays well in both ends of the ice. Ehlers is nowhere near the prospect Mcdavid is, Mcdavid is in the same category as Crosby. I didn't say Ehlers wasn't a first rounder, i think there are better choices at 6, none of the 3 London players were drafted higher than 9.
  7. Most would agree if crosby and malkin were on different teams they would still amoung the top scorer in the nhl, we have seen how good they are for years and also seen that they are very good still when one is hurt, there is enough evidence to suggest this. You can't say that about ehlers and drouin because drouin is much better than ehlers (unlike malkin/crosby who have talent level that is similar). I don't beleive that without drouin ehlers would be a top scorer. It appears there is general consensus on this board that ehelrs' points would be less without drouin on his team.
  8. How do i know this information is accurate?
  9. My comments were in response to other the people's comment, you're reading them out of context. Most would agree if crosby and malkin were on different teams they would still be amoung the top scorers in the league. I am not convince ehlers would be amoung the top level scorers without drouin on his team. The reason i think this is because drouin is a much better player than ehlers, unlike malkin and crosby who i think have similar levels of talent and ability to score in the regular season in the nhl. This is one of the reasons i would not draft him at 6.
  10. Never said none of the points with Drouin are valid. Find me the quote. Why do you assume he would get more points with more icetime? Sedins, also is it possible for him to get more time, he should already be getting large minutes, he is their second best offensive forward. Last point I don't understand what you are saying.
  11. but your arguement was that crosby/malkin in the nhl is the same as drouin/ehlers in the qmjhl. crosby and Malkin have put up very similar numbers in the nhl. Now you're clearly conceding that droiun at this point in time is better ehlers, considerably better as in 2 more points scored for every 3 games played. Less sarcasm more thinking required.
  12. but 93 points is less than the 104 he actually got, so doesn't that right there tell you that Drouin is a factor, even if we use your logic, Ehlers had 79 points in 46 games with Drouin in the line up, if he played 63 games with Drouin he would have 108 points.
  13. you didn't address the second part of my post, Droiun scored approx. 2 more points for every 3 games played.
  14. MacKinnon only played 44 games, his ppg was 1.70, Ehlers had 1.65 ppg, I think you knew this too, yet you still posted the above, what's wrong with you? Regardless, it's more than just stats, Look at multiple mock drafts from 2013, the experts had him ranked 1, 2 or 3. General consensus ehlers is lower than 6, there are a couple that have him higher. You cannot compare the two.
  15. Extreme example, 2 players that are top 5 in the world in offensive talent and also have similar levels of talent. Droiun and Ehlers don't have similar levels of talent according to most scouting reports. Drouin is 2.35 ppg, Ehlers is 1.65 ppg, approx. 2 more points for every 3 games played. Ehlers' ppg goes down to 1.47 in the 17 games without Drouin, but to be fair I don't think its a large enough same size
  16. On one side you agree with me that without Douin his points would decrease from 104 to 85-100, then you say Ehlers would get even more points because of the extra icetime he would get without Drouin....?
  17. LOL, our burgers are broiled, not fried,
  18. I don't think a breakdown is needed, if you have likely the best offensive player in the CHL on your team and you're the seconds best offensive player on that team, directly or indirectly, it's going to help your numbers. To me it's just common sense.
  19. I think part of the equation is if things don't work out for a young euro player, it's a easier for them to choose to go back to euro and play in the pro leagues there, their families are there, they are more comfortable with the culture and the larger rink. Anton Rodin bolted pretty quick when things got hard. Also particularly for smaller guys its easier to play top minutes there against easier competition than getting crushed here by guys like Lucic, Chara. A north american player would prefer to stay in noth america, more likely to accept a lesser role. Plus the cup means more to them. Also Elias accumulated most of his points before the lock out, the other guys are not small. If the skill was similar I would pick the larger euro over the smaller north american everytime. Ehlers just has too many strikes against him vs the other guys, skill, size, country of origins are all things teams consider. If his skill was elite I would say yes draft him, but most scouts don't think it is hence in most mock drafts he is 8 or lower.
  20. We've gone over all of this, 17 games without Drouin is not long enough to make a firm judgement, 93 points is a hypothetical number, Voracek is almost the same size as Kassian how are you going to compare him with a guy that NHL.com says is 5'10". None of the other guys with 100 plus points had a guy who put up 2.35 ppg on their team. You've said all these things before but you have not responded to my rebuttle because you know all this is BS. You are essentially trolling.
  21.     Most of the positive comments in the first article are from his teammate, slight bias no? I am impressed that in his last 43 games he put up 81 points, spot him the first 20 to get comfortable with the north american game. I don't put much stock in one scouting service having him at 3rd, in all the other ones done around the same time he was no higher than 8th. There were 5-6 total from Feb/Jan. Like I said before, by all accounts, prior to this, he does not possess the skill needed to be elite at his size in the NHL. I don't want him if he can't be elite. Is it wise to change your opinion from one favorable review? What about all the other scouting reports/opinions? Also despite all the wonderful things these articles says about him, there is nothing in here claiming that he has absolutely risen enough to be taken ahead of Virtanen, Ritchie and Perlini in the writer's view.
  22.     He doesn't say that he would draft him higher than Virtanen, Ritchie and Perlini anywhere in the above. How did he evaluate the other guys in the draft, in person or from video? Did his opinion on them change also after seeing them live? We only read his review on Ehlers
  23.     The series isn't over yet, can you remind me which of these two teams has recently won a cup and lost in the SCF?
  24.     Nothing on Netflix?
