This thread has so much memories and definitely part of the identity of this forum. I hope if there is a way, we can migrate this entire thread over to the new forum.

Is @Vintage Canuck migrating over to the new forum with us?

There are too many, I just really appreciate there is a community of dedicated Canucks fan who we can share and talk about our favourite team/sport. I made an account and migrating over to the new forum. Hopefully most of if not all of us will all be there.

Still felt horrible that he got injured in the midst of what look to be a career year and break out season.
With COVID and all he ended up not playing a professional game for more than an entire career year.

We used to joke on here about Hanson having hands of stone and well being with the twins sure helped with the 22 goal season.
Arsdeep has very good hands in close and a good shot I see him having better offensive game than our good friend.
WE considered Hansen as "hands of stone" during our contending years from 2009-2012, but then with the arrival of Megna, Chaput etc. in the Benning era, they redefined "hands of stone" because they were offensive black-holes where the play dies on their sticks.

Av's will likely be competing for the cup this year again. They already have plans to keep Landeskog out for the regular season to be magically ready to do for playoff ala Stone and Kucherov.
10 hours ago, IBatch said:That's the new model. And doubt it will change anytime soon. Stone I believe more than bud-lite boy. Although I did find his shirt company a little hilarious rubbing it in after (118 million over the cap - we don't care - etc)
This is a really stupid loophole, and I absolutely hated when teams abuse it the way they did. But on the flipside, if your team has enough depth to keep a player Kucherov, Stone or Landeskog calibre out of the line up for pretty much the majority or entire season and still be comfortably in a playoff spot, that team is already very stacked to begin with anyways. Unlike us, one injury to our top guys and we are looking at another top 10 or top 5 pick.

Nothing against Hawryluk, but I remember the off-season after losing Toffoli for nothing, Benning trying to hype him up as an important acquistion for forward...
Atleast with Stecher & Tanev, at the time I could get behind the idea of replacing them with Hamonic and Schmidt.
Markstrom was replaced by Holtby.

Ironically, that game 7 hat trick was against the Avs.

Beautiful signing, just what we needed, I really liked his game last season. Nothing fantastic but could give our 3rd line some offence if we throw guys like Beauvillier and Garland out there.
Blueger and Aman can take turns on the fourth line but having 3 solid bottom 6 centers is huge - one can just bump over to the wing.
Solid off-season acquisitions.
And none of them take up more caphit that are anywhere close to what Benning's bottom 6 were getting
-
Burrows ($1) - Miller ($3) - Bertuzzi ($3)
Hughes ($5) -Tanev ($3)
Miller ($2)
Assuming all playing at their prime as a Canuck.

Why is Beagle here D:
I think it is probably because he was brought here to be a "leader in the lockerroom" and a "veteran prescence in the bottom 6" on a caphit that is way too high even for what he is suppose to bring to the team. Within 2 years of signing his 4 year contract, he isn't even worth a league minimum contract. I don't think he should be on this list, but if he were available as a UFA after his first 2 years as a Canuck, he would at best be signed to a league minimum contract if not won't even get one but he was taking up $3 million in cap space and it is part of the reason why we couldn't retain Tanev & Toffoli in the 2020 off-season. Blame should be placed on Jim Benning.

Voted 7th but I can see them finish as high as 3rd or 4th if absolutely everything clicks for them. I can also see us finish at around 10th again for mediocrity.

Not resigning Burroughs was dumb dumb dumb dumb
Look I get he is a popular player among the fans but not someone we loose sleep over if we let him walk in Free Agency.

If your name ends in ‘lander’ you’re getting drafted by Vancouver.
Should have done the same back in 2014 and drafted the guy’s name ends in “lander” instead…

Good pick. Keep him in the organization for a few years and we can recruit his brother to join us once he is UFA. We will bring Macklin Celebrini and Connor Bedard in the 2031 off-season when the dead cap space for OEL is all gone.

Toffoli will be the second player to have played with all 3 Hughes brothers at the NHL.

He probably would choose a team that is more of a legitimate contender instead of coming to Vancouver. But I would like to see the Canucks offer him 1 year to serve as 3C. He would bring a lot of playoff experience. His stats suggest to me that he is still an effective 3C if we sign him to a reasonable cap hit for 1 year.

Vegas is such a bunch of entitle pricks that I would want the worst happen to them in any game.

Imagine having Forsling (LD) and Chatfield (RD) on the 2nd pair instead of OEL and Myers
