What's with a kid who if he made the team next year, would be in a bottom 6 roll and shows zero snarl. Your 6'2" 210lbs, hit something, fight someone and for god's sake don't let a guy like Jaskin from St.Louis push you around. One of the biggest problems with this team is that our two top players have zero push back and no snarl resulting in a team that when pushed physically shuts down. This is common knowledge throughout the league and this is why signing Lucic is so very important, he would bring a contagious tenacity that the team is missing and has been missing since Bertuzzi and Jovo. Size that plays with tenacity and snarl intimidates that's why LA, Anahiem, St.Louis, San Jose, Boston etc... are so hard to play against.

This is where I loose faith in JB, Kreider is amazing, super quick and agile, great hockey IQ, super good anticipation to react, JV is missing these components. If your looking for a realistic comparison then look no further then David Booth in his first few years- this is the acme for JV. not terrible but certainly not a 6th overall.

Times have changed Bud, 18 and 19 year olds are way better off to step in and contribute now then 10 years ago, in fact in many cases forwards are in their prime 21-26 years of age. So no calling a player a "bust" who was picked 6th overall, ahead of guys like, is not dopey. In my opinion Virtanen is a bust, he's not quick/agile enough and lack's instinct- he's constantly making big loops and turning away from the play which makes him almost alweays the third guy in when in fact with his size he should be first or second. He has weak handles and a slow release. Benning had at least 20 other better picks he could have made, At least he stole McCann though.
