That line up doesn't make any sense. Why the &^@# is Höglander on the fourth &^@#ing line.

And why is Chiasson on the first line with Miller and Petey??

so what exactly is the reason for him making the team then?

Go ask someone with some hockey knowledge like coach Green or JB

    25.  Burroughs wasn't waived so he is still on the NHL roster.

Höglander, Rathbone and Podkolzin are waiver free though.  They can be papered down and brought back up once the opening roster is set - they will try and maximise their LTIR relief.  Last season Höglander was not on the opening roster but brought back up immediately after it was set and played in game 1.

Motte, Keeper, Ferland and Sutter - are either going on IR or LTIR.

Hoglander too? I thought he had played too many games?

They're a lot better with Sutter.

Did he get covid and is suffering lingering effects of that?  Is that why he has no energy?  His reason for missing pre-season is mysterious

    Not mysterious.

JB was clear, he is dealing with fatigue

I still don't hate the Juolevi pick, he's just been super unlucky with injuries and hasn't panned out. The worst thing is that I think we haven't managed him well and IMO given him a decent chance whereas Rathbone slots straight in. This is more the coaching problem.

Not many other teams would develop a top 10 pick defenceman slowly, get him playing full time AHL minutes and then the season that he could break into the NHL, trade him for fodder at his lowest value.

I think JBs hand was forced by how the coaches messed up. I stand by the pick for the most part - he's what we needed at the time (remember we had just picked Virtanen so didn't need a top 6 tough guy, and were desperately thin on the blueline in terms of prospects).

I love it, you turned a topic of GM drafting into a coaching problem

Losing OJ is a heartbreaking decision, and untimely. Just as he was showing poise, confidence and injury free we trade him for finnished players. I’m not sure who pushed for this but I’m thinking Green. Virt may have been a bust no matter where he played, but Green hated him as well. Sad really.

We did not loose him :picard:

    we traded him. not heartbreaking.

what i'm starting to see is our prospect pool is starting to be pretty bare i don't care what anyone else say.. we don't have any surefire looking prospect left and i'm not high on any of the prospect we currently have.. i mean the best prospect we had left last year other than podz couldn't even crack the seattle kraken's line up lol. we have been trading away a lot of draft picks lately i'm just wondering wth do we even have left to trade when this team is ready to actually compete? gillis traded away lots of picks and prospect during his years but the team was actually competing all those years.. right now we are trading away a bunch of picks and prospect but we are not even actually competing yet.. with our prospect pool pretty much empty of anything significant.. when we do need to make a big trade for a rental or 2 for the playoff.. that means we have to throw in even more draft picks since we don't have prospects.. i wonder how this is going to setup for the next GM.

what are you talking about? right now we are trading picks?

good lord, get excited about the season opener

Good drafter who's grown into the position, but he's hampered by an incompetent coaching staff, similar to when Burke exposed Scott Walker for the ED against his better judgement.

Really, Really really we all understand you do not like the coaching staff, wait no you HATE green and company

But to use every single post to rant on and on about it is pathetic in my honest opinion

I was going to suggest giving it a rest for 10 games to see how the team is doing, but haters going to hate no matter what

If we were to retain the current roster and IF Garland was willing to try LW (he’s a right hand shot), I’d be interested to see how these lines performed together:

    Garland Pettersson Boeser

    Hoglander Miller Podkolzin

    Pearson Horvat Motte

    Petan/Sutter Dickenson Chiasson

Personally, I wouldn’t be opposed to us trading a decent draft pick for another C/LW or RHD. Don’t think Sutter will hold up and don’t trust Petan enough in that 4th line role. Could swap with Motte but I like Motte’s hustle and grind and think that could benefit Bo and Pearson.

Smallish forward corps but balanced out lines with energy and some grit on each.
    Thoughts?

start by taking out the injured guys, Sutter, Motte and maybe Boeser to start the season

Did Chiasson make the team? haven't seen a mention of contract

Everyone ready to put this rollercoaster offseason behind us and start the season?

Just to recap this strange offseason:

We managed to trade Player Name, Beagle, and Roussel in one trade

We traded our 9th overall pick

    We bought out Virtanen

Hamonic didn’t show up to camp and is still AWOL

Petey and Hughes held out until the last week of preseason

We dumped Lind, Gadjovich, and Juolevi in three different ways

Sutter, Motte, and Boeser are all out with injuries/illness

Green spent most of preseason giving tryouts to AHLers

And to cap it all off we went 2-5 in our games (surprise surprise)

    Did I miss anything?

The Fire Green Gang is in full lynching mode

He's now cost us two of our better prospects due to h is insistence on playing AHL trash instead of guys who can actually be useful.  I wouldn't let that moron coach a single game at any level for us given his obvious inability to evaluate talent.  This should have been clear after he chose to retain an unqualified moron to run our D, who will now be hindering Rathbone's development while he gets fed undeserved minutes instead of learning to play his position at the appropriate level.

You guys should hook up for a beer, I know who you would a be talking about

Could this be the start of a unilateral contract termination for failure to report?

    Sounds right

Great guy, solid player but we have an NHL team to run. Time was given, respect was given, time to move on

Feeling a bit bad for Bailey, guy is so unlucky.

Badly timed injuries and a bout with covid has really messed with that guy's career.

Shame that it came to this in order to deal with Hamonic.

Shame? I'm not following the connection to harmonic?

Bailey needs to play lots in the AHL after that shoulder injury

Green has lost a lot of fans' confidence this preseason. Aside from the bubble, Green has shown he is stubborn and unable to adapt to situations.

The fact that we are still seeing Too Many Men calls in his rosters is a joke. Something he's doing is confusing the players. There's also the poor second period where the team just takes its foot off the gas.

Yesterday when the team was down 3-0, the team was playing like it was tied. No urgency until the very end. And even then, the players were passing it around.

That's right, Lost confidence, stubborn,  can't adapt, too many men joke, foot off the gas, confusing his players.

Hahaha, tell us how you really feel about coach Green?
