Some folks i'm not sure if they actually bother watching the games. Myers is like Edler was a few years ago when we really sucked. Just the best we have. Don't get the picking on his cap one bit, even with covid it's ok for a UFA 6 x 5, hasn't been injured yet like Elder was either ... or Tanev for that matter. I sound like a broken record but we need more guys like him not less. Seems like most of the CDC was around for the 2010-2013 team. Go back and look at the cap percentage we paid for that D. Myers vs Ballard....the more we get like him, the more effective the entire D will become.
Excactly iv watched a lot Canucks game he was one of our best players in playoffs last year with demko ideal d with one trade and fa signing
hughes Larsson
graves myers
rathbone hamonic

6.0 M AAV / Cap hit for a 3rd pairing guy like Myers is one of the reasons why Canucks can't sign both Pettersson and Hughes to long term contracts:
Rick Dhaliwal: Barry continue: “Canucks have cap issues, I dont think we can do long term deals for Petey and Quinn. We have started the dance, we are engaged in talks.”
6.0 M AAV /Cap Hit for Myers is a joke.
I remember very well that I posted Myers stats from his time in Winnipeg in the Myers thread. His stats were mediocre. Everything over 4.5 m for a guy like Myers is an overpayment. 6.0M is a massive overpayment. Jim maneuvered Canucks in serious cap trouble and there is no easy way out. Canucks couldn't resign Toffoli and can't do long term deals for both Pettersson and Hughes.
Lmao Myers is maybe overpaid by a million hardly reason why were in cap hell problem is you have Schmidt and Myers both number 4 d making 6 mil and Myers is physical harder play against and rhd they gotta trade Schmidt we have enough soft d in Hughes and juolevi/rathbone

One has to be traded if the Canucks wanna be successful and rhd with height are hand find I think we could aquire a good 3rd line Center in swap with Schmidt and use the money to sign/aquire other d who will all be better fits with Hughes and Myers as Schmidt does not fit with either and we can’t pay one to be 3rd pairing guys Benning should be after IMO oleskiak Zadarov Larsson mayfield graves

2022 2nd Jake virtanen Kole Lind for Robert Thomas
2021 2nd Jack rathbone for Ryan graves
2 simple trades that go along way to making us better
-
I’d much rather make pick and go after guy like Robert Thomas where price would be cheaper
-
Trades
Nate Schmidt to Rangers for Morgan Barron 2021 2nd round pick
6’4 centermen who put a point per game and is ready to step into 3rd line centre role
Kole Lind Jake virtanen 2022 2nd to St.Louis For Robert Thomas
St.Louis still in win now mode believe they can squeeze something out virtanen and I believe Thomas oozes potential
Jack Rathbone 2021 2nd to Colorado for Ryan graves
Leaves avs option for expansion as rathbone doesn’t need to be protected and has the potential
Buyouts

The best thing we can do is expose Myers and holtby and let Seattle take myers and buy out holtby free up the cap bring back hamonic on 2 year deal 3 mil he can play up
and down the line up

Doubt they would want to move Barron when he is expected to bring the grit and heaviness they are missing.
Media has been complaining all season that NYR are too soft and owner Dolan concurred. They are looking to add grit - similarly to what Tampa did when they added guys like Coleman, Goodrow, Maroon.
Don't think they would have interest in Schmidt either - would be surprising for Drury to ignore Dolan and acquire yet another skilled player while trading away a gritty one. Dolan had that quote about how they have talent but that's not enough to win. Would think that Drury is looking to add players that bring an edge and can play more of a heavy game for the post-season.
Schmidt is what they need a solid left side d and would be great with Trouba cost isn’t cheap for top 4 d and I think Barron is probably 5th or 6th on there prospect depth seems like a perfect trade for both rangers are looking to take next step and are sorely lacking top 4 with experience

Having that extra 1st would be enormous. Be more inclined to trade 9OA for a young RHD
Yes you definitely open up a ton of cap as well and very satisfied moving the 9 for a defense and easily take lambos or ceulemans who I think is gonna be a steal at 16

Wow a 6th rounder. Yeah his numbers look great. Would love that trade getting a 1st also lol
Yes kid is big and likes throw his weight around him and podz on same line would drive teams nuts with there compete

My proposal 2021 1st Morgan Barron for Schmidt 2021 3rd
Morgan Barron is 6’4 put up a point per game in ahl and is ready for show And could slide into our 3rd line for dirt cheap
3rd line ofPearson Barron Podz
you then use that cap elsewhere as to
me there is no way we can succeed with Schmidt and Myers in our top 4

i have a lot more faith and time for schmidt.
hansen thinks he’s a #4 but i think he’s probably a #2 if paired with the right guy. i’d bet it was a down year.
myers tho - yup.
Yup that’s problem Schmidt Myers can play together and either can play Hughes so it’s clear we trade one or leave Myers exposed
-

that should be hamonic with rathbone.
3rd pairing defense focused d-man who can fill temporarily in the top four.
Or you sign hamonic to play with Hughes and all honestly I think Miller could gel with him
-
Just now, Tom Sestito said:
schmidt is good on both ends but he still needs a better defense focused presence next to him so he can be at his best pushing pace up the ice
myers is only good on one end
seems obvious to me
Well that was problem people wanna pay 6 dollar defencemen to be 3rd pairing both guys played as fringe 4th defencemen more like 5th and 6th
-

that defense won’t be playing any defense
Miller looked great at world championships great third pairing d that can jump into top 4 when needed
-
This is definitely a trade Benning needs look into something I’d look at it is 9th overall Joulevi rousell 3rd for reinhart Colin Miller
Top 6
jt Miller Peterrson Boeser
hoglander horvat reinhart
Defense
schimdt Myers
Hughes free agent
Rathbone Miller

Colorado have too much talent can't protect everyone.
Did you forget they have a protection problem? Lose Gravess to Seattle for noting??
I know he is a top 4 D man he plays 20 mins a game?
Appleton - 25 - 6'2 , speed, GP 56 -- PTS 25 on 3rd line.. Another player to go after
Yes but why would they only take a 2nd they’ll get a lot better offers and there a lot they can do to make it work
-

Your not getting graves for 2nd at all too 4 defencemen are most valuable thing In hockey you have to pay up
-
I’d do 9th and kole Lind say 3rd for reinhart and colin Miller we’re gonna stand lose one of gad or Lind may as well try get some value out them

DiPietro and 9th OA Pick = 6th OA Pick and Seider or another D prospect
We get a DMAN and move up , they get a goalie they were aiming for with their 6th pick

I don’t think there any drop off from Owen power to Clarke Hughes or Edvinsson lambos

We’re really sitting in a sweet spot at 9 we’re gonna get one of the elite players and will be an easy pick for Benning it’s not worth giving him up in this kind of draft and where we sit

how does that help us ice 3 scoring lines? if he is just a larger sutter and they want him for future #4 center than fine. or if he can be a abrasive winger is okay too.
He already is playing against men at 18 years old and put 0.5 ppg that season only forwards to do that in that league have become outstanding nhlers Benning probably has his eye on him seems like his kind of guy kids already 203 pounds at 18 6’6 hes gonna play around 220 he will be a guy you can slide up and down your lineup and be great 3rd line shut down guy

For 3rd round pick it was a good shot to try to see the fit I feel his value is still high enough get something decent and use that money elsewhere like a partner for Hughes
