I think you are pretty much bang on on your thinking, and like I did say, "in this exercise", because I am of several minds in what to do
IMO, we need to get heavier, for our skilled guys to survive........watching the playoffs.......it is intense, and I can not help but remember exactly how Hughes looked after our playoff run last year, after our last Vegas loss. I like Mayfield because of many factors..........Defensive, huge, and contract.........perfect match, IMO
In saying that, I think Rathbone is the real deal, and I want to see him with a good 2 way Dman........Schmidt is great for that IMO
for #5 and 6, I would like to have Graves and Savard (Myers would be fine)
Finesse and size
So, as you ask..............what are the costs?
Mayfield and a 2021- 2nd-59th(Col) for Woo and a 2023 3rd (Woo is ED protected and Guaranteed=value).............Islanders overpay for that right!
Graves for Juolevi and a conditional 2023-2nd (if Juolevi gets picked), IMO Juolevi is so questionable, there is risk
Not sure of the exact values, but something like that
Hughes - Mayfield
Rathbone - Schmidt
Graves - Myers
Hamonic?
I think people undervalue having guys on there strong side I think Schmidt would excel on left side so who ever it is Benning needs find rhd for top 4 and Dumba risto zadarov mayfield are at top of my list

If this is offered, I’d certainly hope JB would take it. I really like Lockwood, but Dumbo could be Hughes’s partner for several years. Why does Minnesota do this though?
I’m not sure of the offers they get as ppl know he’s gone and they need players that don’t need protection

Matt Dumba is a guy the Canucks absolutely have to try to target uncertain what cost would be as he certain gone to Seattle if not traded this is my offer
Canucks trade=1st round 9th Overall William Lockwood 2022 2nd round pick
Wild Trade=Matt Dumba 1st round 21 Overall
Thoughts, they will want someone they don’t have to protect. We then protect Schmidt, Juolevi, Myers, Dumba, Peterrson, Horvat, Miller, Boeser , Demko, Leaving Pearson, Holtby exposed

I do think Schmidt will be better if played on left side Benning needs another natural right shot defencemen with resigning harmonic and if we do keep him Benning has to make tough choice of trading one of juolevi or rathbone

How did Zadorov lose all his flavor?
He was quickly on taxi squad and never found his way there they were already looking to trade him and we need get harder to play against

Remember drouin is was just a 50 point player on a bad line in Montreal could be most skilled guy horvat has played with

Someone the Canucks should have there eye on and really hope Jim Benning takes in round 2 is samuel helenius a 6’6 shut down 3rd line centre already is known for his defensive play above average skating for a man his size this guy has mean streak and knows how use his size could slide right into 3rd line shut down role in 2-3 years and if he develops his offensive game can really be scary please Benning don’t miss out on this kid
