So this might not be relevant at all, I know nothing about norlinder's game, but nothing makes me want to throw my remote at the tv more than players with the skating who don't have other tools to take advantage of it. Watching Grabner whiff on two breakaways a game, or seeing kapanen use his speed to turnstile the defender, gain the zone and then throw a bad angle shot on net or dump it into the corner is just soul crushing.

That's the thing - while Dubas is definitely cap crunched, and definitely has to make a deal, he also has lots of pieces that have value and will be in demand in the trade market (kapanen, kadri, johnsson). It's not like every GM in the league is banding together so that one of them can bend Toronto over a barrel. The demand for his good players may be enough he's able to make a pretty decent trade, if he's a good GM. That last part is what we'll find out though, I guess.

I think calling him a good ES scorer is more based on P/60 stats - he was 31st in ES P/60 in 2017-2018.
