  1. FOR THOSE WHO DIDN'T WATCH THE GAME THIS WAS WAY BEYOND CHIPPY, UNFORTUNATELY THE HIGHLIGHTS DON'T SHOW ALL THE CHEAP SHOTS WHICH IN THE END COST SPRINGFIELD BIG TIME. IVE BEEN A SEASON TICKET HOLDER FROM DAY 1 AND THIS SPRINGFIELD TEAM WAS PULLING OUT ALL THE CHEAP SHOTS LIKE SOMETHING OUT OF A LEAGUE BELOW THE ECHL LIKE IN SLAPSHOT. THE SCENE IN SLAPSHOT WHERE THEY FOUGHT DURING THE WARMUPS WAS FILMED HERE IN THE AUD.
  2. Im not saying anything other than the two played on the same line and were exciting to watch. LOL No hidden messages in the statement.
  3. They were a dynamic duo on the same line during the Calder Cup run. Conacher was just resigned by Lightning to a one year one way 700K. He just got AHL player of the month too.
  4. Now you're beeing a jack ass yourself. No need to toss insults over a dumb sports blog. As a season ticket holder from day 1 I think most fans realize the AHL is a farm club league and only ask for a competitive team. I think Vancouver has provided the Comets a competitive team which is a whole different animal from a perennial Calder Cup finalist. Every farm club has its ups and downs and fans just have to accept it. I just counted and there are 48 ticks available (3300 Season tickets and 3917 max capacity) for this Fridays game. The majority of empty seats you see on AHL TV are corporate season tick holders too lazy to transfer or sell their tickets and now the beer guzzling drunks who come to drink rather than watch the game are starting to dwindle out.
  5. By Ben Birnell Posted Dec 4, 2018 at 8:02 PM Updated Dec 4, 2018 at 8:28 PM UTICA – Some change has helped the Utica Comets of late, especially on the power play. With help from a strong start on the power play – Utica Comets had at least one goal on the advantage in six of their first seven regular-season games – the Comets had been hovering near the top of the American Hockey League rankings. There was a lull in November, but with nine goals in their last 31 chances, the Comets’ power play has heated up again over the last six games. “I think the biggest thing is we’re getting a little confidence on it,” said forward Tanner Kero, who has a team-leading six power-play goals this season. “I think we’re starting to score a few goals, so we’re building that confidence and that trust. ... We’ve been working on it a little bit before each game and kind of dialing in a few things. “The biggest thing is that we’re shooting the puck a lot more. We’re not trying to overdo anything and overwork it.” Utica’s power play ranks third overall at 23.4 percent heading into Wednesday’s game at Rochester. The Comets (10-12-1-1, tied for 5th in North Division) have at least two power-play goals during their recent six-game stretch, including three in Saturday’s win in Laval and two against Rochester on Nov. 23. “We put a heavy strain on our specialty teams because 5-on-5 we’re ... a good team, but we’re not a great team,” Comets coach Trent Cull said. “We haven’t been generating enough offense 5-on-5, so our specialty teams ... we’re trying to make them great every night to give ourselves a chance to win.” The Comets’ power play has been operating as high as 31.4 percent this season. Cull said the team has been helped by the return of Reid Boucher (four of 10 goals are on the power play) and Darren Archibald, who provides a strong presence in front of the net. Cull said the team will miss Michael Carcone, who had a goal and five assists on the advantage during the recent six-game stretch. He was traded to Toronto on Monday. Defenseman Olli Juolevi was leading the power play before an injury. However, Evan McEneny, who had a goal and assist on the power play Saturday, has done well in the role, said Cull. “I think we just have to stick with what we’re doing,” Kero said. “We’re not trying to overdo anything and just kind of doing simple plays and getting pucks to the net.” Getting their kicks at Utica City FC opener It is not all hockey for the Comets. Many players took the opportunity to see the home opener for the new indoor soccer team, Utica City FC. The team is managed by Mohawk Valley Garden, Inc., which oversees the Comets. Richard Bachman and Kero were impressed with their first Major Arena Soccer League experience because they considered it similar to hockey. “It was fantastic,” Bachman said. “It was fast-paced and hard-hitting. It was even more entertaining than I expected.” Both said it was nice to hang out away from hockey. “Any time you can spend with a group away from the rink, away from the hockey atmosphere, it is good,” Kero said. “Team bonding translates into how we play on the ice and in the locker room, so it is good.” The Comets are also set to take in an NFL game when they visit the Charlotte Checkers this month. With a day off in between games Sunday, Dec. 16 and Tuesday, Dec. 18, players have the opportunity to attend the Monday night game between New Orleans and Carolina through a connection with Comets General Manager Ryan Johnson. “It is going to be an unbelievable experience,” said Bachman, a Denver Broncos fan who has been to one NFL game. “Big stage. Monday night. It is going to be something a lot of guys have never done before.” Roll call Captain Carter Bancks, who missed the last three games with an upper-body injury, was a full participant Tuesday. Cull is hopeful Bancks can return Wednesday.. Cull said Vincent Arseneau, who injured his hand Nov. 9, is expected to see a specialist this week and they’ll see how he progresses. Arseneau and Wacey Hamilton, who hasn’t played this season due to a concussion, skated in red no-contact jerseys following practice. Jalen Chatfield, who still has a cast on his left foot/leg remains on crutches and is not expected back before Christmas. Later Tuesday, Vancouver again assigned Sam Gagner to the Toronto Marlies meaning no player will return the Comets after Carcone being traded.
  6. January 1 is my understanding. I'm usually plugged into the rumor mills but there's not even rumors of a deal/no deal being circulated. Simply from a fans perspective the Mohawk Valley is mostly Ranger friendly so that's the hope, but many obstacles to that have been already articulated. Utica is probably the perfect market for an ECHL team but I don't see that team getting overwhelming support after losing a second AHL team. Utica College Men's Division 3 hockey is still averaging just over 3000 tickets per game so I see a bunch of us season ticket holders going back there IMO.
  7. HOW ABOUT SOME LEVITY FROM ALL THE SERIOUS TALK? LOL

In 2015.16, he was named to the AHL All-Star game in a season where he registered nearly a point per game for Toronto's AHL affiliate, the Marlies: 48 points (17-31-48) in 51 games. The 6'2", 192-pound left wing was originally drafted by Toronto in the third round, 86th overall in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.
  9. 1-1 Gaunce. His third goal in three games since reassigned.
  10. COMETS RECALL ANSELMINI, REASSIGN GARDINER Nov 28, 2018 Utica, N.Y. – Utica Comets General Manager Ryan Johnson announced today that the club has recalled defenseman Brandon Anselmini from Kalamazoo. Additionally, the team has reassigned forward Reid Gardiner to the Wings. Anselmini, 25, has appeared in 16 games with Kalamazoo, earning seven points (0-7-7). The defenseman has three points (0-3-3) in 17 career AHL games split between Texas and Rockford. Gardiner, 22, skated in five games in his stint with the Comets. He’s also played in six games with the Kalamazoo Wings, netting five points (2-3-5).
  11. Prospect defenceman Olli Juolevi, who has 13 points (1-12) in 18 games this season with the Utica Comets, flew to Vancouver on Tuesday to have a troublesome knee examined. He injured it in an AHL game and will have an MRI (magnetic resonance image) as early as Wednesday.
  12. COMETS ANNOUNCE ROSTER MOVES Nov 27, 2018 Utica, N.Y. – Vancouver Canucks General Manger Jim Benning announced today that the club has reassigned forward Reid Boucher to the Comets. Additionally, Comets General Manager Ryan Johnson announced that the team has released Alex Kile from his PTO. Boucher, 25, leads the Comets in goals (10), points (16) and shots on goal (46). His 1.33 points per game also ranks tied for seventh in the AHL. Kile, 24, appeared in four games with the Comets. Prior to signing a PTO with Utica, Kile had nine points (7-2-9) in 10 games with the Maine Mariners of the ECHL.
  13. By Ben Birnell Posted at 1:18 PM Updated at 2:11 PM Darren Archibald is back — again. The popular forward was assigned back to the Utica Comets from the Vancouver Canucks on Monday afternoon, team General Manager Ryan Johnson confirmed. The move — which was necessary because Canucks defenseman Alex Edler was activated from injury reserve — happened after the longtime Comets player successfully cleared waivers after no other NHL teams put in a claim on him. The 29-year-old Archibald was on recall with the Canucks since Oct. 30 and had a goal and assist in nine games while filling in as a depth option for the parent team this season. Archibald’s return gives the Comets — who have won three consecutive games following Saturday’s 4-2 home victory over Belleville — a boost as they work through injuries and callups early this season. Archibald — one of the team’s top forwards who is also viewed as a leader — also provides an option on special teams. The veteran Archibald, who has appeared in a Comets-record 289 regular-season contests, has four goals and two assists in eight games. He last appeared in the Comets lineup on Oct. 20, a 4-3 win over rival Syracuse. The Comets (9-10-1-1, 20 points) gained some footing in earning all six possible points last week in wins over three North Division teams — and help from the recent returns of goaltenders Thatcher Demko and Richard Bachman. The wins helped propel them from eighth place at the start of the week to fourth place entering Monday. Utica is two points behind third-place Cleveland. Each of the Utica’s three games this week are on the road against division teams. The Comets head to Binghamton on Wednesday before playing Friday at Belleville and Saturday at Laval. It is part of a stretch in which five of the next six Comets games are on the road.
  14. COMETS RECALL JAGGER DIRK FROM KALAMAZOO, REASSIGN KULBAKOV Nov 23, 2018 Utica, N.Y.– Utica Comets General Manager Ryan Johnson announced today that the club has recalled defenseman Jagger Dirk from the Kalamazoo Wings and reassigned goalie Ivan Kulbakov to Kalamazoo. Dirk, 25, has appeared in 12 games with Kalamazoo this season, earning five points (2-3-5). He has also appeared in one game with the Comets. The Penticton, BC native has appeared in eight career AHL games since turning pro at the end of last season. Before making his debut, Dirk skated in 310 games with Kootenay in the WHL before embarking on a 114-game career at St. Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, NS. Kulbakov, 22, picked up a 5-5-1 record to go along with a 3.49 GAA and a .892% save percentage over the course of 12 starts with the Comets this season. The native of Gomel, Belarus spent one season with Youngstown in the USHL before turning pro in 2017-18, where he split the year between the Cleveland Monsters and Quad City Mallards (ECHL).
  15. CANUCKS RECALL CENTER REID BOUCHER Nov 22, 2018 Vancouver, BC – Vancouver Canucks General Manager Jim Benning announced today that the club has recalled center Reid Boucher and reassigned center Brendan Gaunce to the Utica Comets. Boucher, 25, has led the Comets in scoring this season with 16 points (10-6-16) in 12 games. He ranks fifth in the AHL for most goals (10) and tied for ninth for most power play goals (4). The Lansing, Michigan native has appeared in 132 NHL games, registering 42 points (20-22-42). The center was originally drafted by the New Jersey Devils in the fourth round, 99th overall in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.
