Yeah because dowel Chiasson have no upside. Doweling clears waivers those “plugs “ didn’t what’s that say about the garbage he kept.

So yeah he threw those YOUNG developing players away.
Both had size and grit guess what none of the old  turds he kept have guess what we need.
    size and grit.

lol thinking doweling Chiasson aren’t the worthless plugs.

    Chiasson : 39gp  5-4=9 and -3

    Dowling 22gp 2-2=4 and -3

not saying they are great players but it is double the production of zac and Gaj. If that is a 'worthless plug'  then the other two are worse than that.

    -Zac Mac... 44 games 1 goal 4 points -10

    -Jo Gaj....... 25 games 0 goals 2 points -7

  2. I wonder about the team's long term view of Petey.  He is playing both wing and center right now -- moved to wing but returned to center due to missing BO and Miller.

If they want him to be mostly wing I think we keep both Miller and Bo and maybe move Boes.  -- Can we afford two really expensive wingers?

If they want him to be mostly center we probably move Miller and keep Bo. -- Can we afford three really expensive centers.

This is assuming we can't keep all 4.  I would prefer we do that.

I don't disagree, but I heard Rutherford say he's hoping to hire someone within about a month.

He also had really high praise for Ryan Johnson about a minute before he started talking about his love for bringing up new guys (and had a list of a half dozen guys that he pulled up into Gm and/or AGM positions).

Made me wonder if that's how he's leaning.

Certainly a possibility, and I don't think it is a bad one.  Hiring a brand new GM is a habit of ours, but having a mentor for them sounds like a better process and if the AGMs are experienced too...  If the Twins are future executives do they take some kind of AGM of Abby if this happens?

It’s ugly having Chiasson on that line but I like that Bruce is doing that to keep the other 2 lines together which have been good

It's also a very heavy line.  Pearson at 6'1 and 201 is the smallest of the three.  Not that they are going to really bang and crash, but their down-low -cycle and board battles are going to ear down the other teams D.

  5. Considering how many injuries and players sidelined we have this is great for the team.

OEL probably came back before fully healthy due lack of available D.  We have 6 D out of the lineup -- this break should ensure we get 2-4 of them back plus practice time.

Plus Hughes gets to rest a bit after the monster minute games.   I think our energy and health will counter any loss in momentum.

  6. I know it is an outside the box take, but I could actually see them keeping Miller over Petey.

    Miller:  149 games as a Canuck:  51g - 93a = 144 pts or 0.97 pts/game and 54%+ range in faceoffs, plays center/wing/ PP/PK.  Durable and verbal leader

    Petey:  192 games as a Canuck: 69g - 97a = 166 pts or 0.86 pts/game, 41% faceoffs, plays center/PP just starting PK?  Has not been durable

The reasons to keep Petey is not that he is better, it is that he is young and we believe he will be better,  but the last two years call that into question.

Its hard to think of them trading Petey away, but I think the idea that it is obvious Miller isn't so certain as people seem to think.

The Bouds Boudreau honeymoon lasts for how long? I love his openness and willingness to talk hockey. He has been hired 3x and fired 3X before. I doubt there is much he hasn’t seen in the game. His statement that his decisions are always based on what is best for the team stays with me. Look at how he spread the TOI out last night. Pretty damn even as any team building towards contention should be. Uneven ice time tells players how maybe their efforts aren’t valued. The only player with extended ice was Hughes. The only 2 players on the team that are playing like top ranked players are Hughes and Demko.

A lot of solid performances last night. I thought Dickenson had one of his best games as a Canuck. Releasing the hounds to chase the puck to an extent worked. LA was kinda of listless so I don’t build to much into the win. Just a much better effort which has been building for 3 weeks now.

I believe he has a habit of running this top players a lot.  I like the spread out TOI among the roster, but I think that was because he was still learning their names.  (during the press report afterwards he couldn't even remember one of the goal scorers names) This first 7-10 days is an evaluation of who he has so I expect him to roll 4 lines a fair amount. Then he will start to focus the playing time more onto the players he likes and trusts.

  8. Nice idea, but the reality is that as long as Green is the coach lines don't matter.

You can have an entire practice with set lines but once a game starts he will probably blend them before all the players have actually had a shift.

  9. Some of my concerns this year:

-- PP looks like the stale old stuff.  It should be top 5-10 in the league and it isn't.  It's predictable and needs to become more dynamic -- that is on the coaches.

-- Green's line blending.  Makes you wonder why have lines in practice.  He gives them 5 minutes in a game and then throws the whole thing away if he doesn't like what he sees.

-- He loses players and shortens the bench every game.  This makes it hard for the team to push late as they have logged so many minutes, increases the chance of injuries (playing tired) and teaches lower players that at any time any mistake an their are benched.  -- Of course they will only do 'safe' things like dump and chase.

-- Petey is struggling.  He is also playing 3 minutes a game more than his career average.  Other players have an off shift (or have a fight, or score a goal) and he benches them.

-- Green does not have consistent rules or approaches to players regarding accountability.  He has two types -- 'I trust no matter what' or 'waiting for you to disappoint me so I can bench you'

-- Bo -- is he the captain or Miller?  Miller is great when things are going great and pouts when it isn't.  And he is the Alpha on the team.  If the team is not playing like a team and not working together that is either on the coaches or the captain.  I don't know (honestly don't know just wondering) if Bo's leadership can handle Miller in the locker room.

(Bo and Bess are my two favorite players for context so don't think I'm dumping on Bo.
